I really enjoy your relaxed chit - chat style of review and all the other stuff you do. Please don't go changing! I agree that for the price this is a great deal and those quality issues are what you have to live with when you buy a Uke at that price I suppose. Please keep up the good work - I look forward to your vids! I'm in the UK, so I just watch your giveaways from a distance. Good luck to whoever wins this one - It's a fantastic prize!
Thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️ While I won’t be giving the ukulele away internationally there WILL also be a prize for international subscribers. So stay tuned! 😀
I have recently purchased one of these! The machine heads are really good ones, its a lovely instrument. The back is not one piece, there is a very fine join. Like the top, the two halves cut from the same piece of wood for the identical grain on each side. My bridge is ebony. I think it is wonderful for the price. I also have one of their banjoleles, and no complaints except from the dog, which is why I got this wooden uke.
The two different colors on the top, is Called runout. It happens when a top is bookmatched but not perfectly quartersawn. Runout is present at least in some degree on most spruce top instruments except for extremely high end ones. The back of that uke is definitely two book-matched pieces, you can tell by how the grain meets at a diagonal angle. You cant see the seem because it is a dark seem on a dark part of those pieces of wood. The joint at the headstock is a scarf joint and its present on 95% of ukuleles and guitars.
Pretty and great price . ⭐️. Love your ukulele strap . I haven’t played in the-dark before, but I do often close my eyes. Going to share with my ukulele group that meets on Friday .
i have a kmise, thin body, tenor. i put baritone strings on it. i LOVE it. had to have the frets worked on. and i plan to change the tuners. i LOVE it.
Loved this video - I was thinking about getting a Donner for my first doner funded purchase. I think I'll get a Kimise instead. I am going to share this with Derby City Ukulele Strummers.
I shared the unboxing video and this one with my siblings. I own a Kmise, and I’m really happy so far. I mentioned to them that if I won this instrument, I would take it to work to play for the elder memory care clients. Two days later, two identical ukuleles showed up on my porch from Amazon, with a note from my brother. They are exactly like the one in this video. Thank you for the review (I still hope I win...lol)
Hard to believe that this ukulele receives such a positive review and still is priced at such a great value price. Honestly if I didn’t already own a Kmise banjo ukulele and know what a great quality it is, I probably would discount the good review. Don’t know how they do it. A solid spruce top and such a beautiful Rosewood laminate? Wow. I’d love to share that uke with some of my grandchildren. As far as the slightly different colors of the two sides of the Sprucetop is concerned, I own an Ohana tenor solid Sprucetop, which I paid over $500 for and the two sides are a very slightly different hues. I consider that part of the uniqueness of a solid instrument. Guess I’m saying that with spruce and cedar I’m not too surprised that the match is slightly different. The darker woods (I think) are easier to match with stain. Excellent review. Never worry about the time. Demonstrates your thoroughness. No one is forced to listen. Good job! (Shared on my Twitter feed @MarkHPierce)
Thank you, Mark. I don’t know how they do it either! I have heard so many positive comments about the banjolele. The different colors on the top don’t really bother me. I feel like I remember seeing the same thing on some more expensive solid spruce ukes. Thanks again for your kind words. Everyone is so supportive here. 😊
i just received my Kmise Tiger Flame Bari well built and trimmed out but finish was dull even for a "Matte" finish. GOT my bottle of boiled linseed oil and gave it a good wipe down and Holy Cop the finish popped. it is trimmed in maybe Mahogany. I like the starfish and whale position markers :-P My 2ng Kmise. a Guitalele i bought a while back. unbelievable buy for $79.95.
Looks fantastic Jodi x so many Ukes out there, and beautiful woods to, my baby uke to, she a Kala, soprano body but! A concert body, just love it,got her 2018 in our capital London, famous Denmark Street, she never seems to go out of tune either? 😃✌that's you tube and chas choons, this beautiful solid spruce top looks fantastic, thanx Jodi x
Thank you so much! Because of your review, I'd just bought this ukulele model for $37 through your link. With many accessories, Really great deal. The ukulele has very good quality.
Great review! Don’t worry about people complaining about the length of your videos - you be you. They can skip ahead or click away. I shared this with one of my uke-playing friends via text message.
Hi, Just bought this uke for my wife as a result of watching your video review. It sounds great and is beautiful. So far we have not been able to find any defects like you found. Yippee! Now we both have Ukuleles!
Beautiful ukulele, very nice demo ! The few blemishes are not a big deal, it sounds great and would probably never be noticed from your audience. I even like their whimsical inlay and the slotted headstock is Top Drawer ! Big thanks Jodi, I shared you on FB !
Really good & thorough review. Mine is much more basic and the frets are kinda sharp on the edges, but no flaws at all. I’m pleased my wife picked it and the brand. Several folks at my church have this brand also (that’s how we found out about them)
You can take the uke into any music store (guitar center etc) or luthier and have the frets filed in about 10-15 minutes. I recently did that with my Bruce Wei and it is SO much more pleasing to play. Try it ! ❤️😊❤️
Actually, a conscise, critical (in a good way 😁) review. According to a Kmise company video ... it is pronounced kmeyes. I always thought it it was “k miss ay.” As you pointed out the brand is variable in its quality control. A month ago I would have defended it as a “best buy” but I had problems with the mahogany laminate concert size I bought from the U.S. distributor, Friendstore on eBay. They want me to ship it back to China for my refund. Too complicated. I’ll keep it and write it off as a mistake. I’ll probably spend the extra dollars and buy from Amazon. I haven’t given up hope yet. Rich Davis praises the Tiger Flame Kmise concert ukulele so I’ve ordered one to give to my granddaughter. Here’s hoping for the best of luck. You mentioned that these are not expensive ukes and in general they have been a good value. I have four and only one has been a disappointment. Sorry 😐 for having gone on so long but I really enjoy your reviews. MikeinMinnesota
Thanks for your comment. It’s always helpful to hear other people’s experiences with the same brand. I hope you’ll let me k ow how the tiger flame turns out. Also, what was wrong with the laminate mahogany one?
I always love your reviews because of your obvious enthusiasm for what you do, and for that omnipresent smile! For the price, it sure is hard to beat that Kmise! I can see the two different shades on the top, but for the cost, one could not complain. The back and sides are very pretty! Good point on the straps....I am a BIG fan of straps. It just makes it easier to play with no chance of the instrument shifting while playing or worse yet, dropping it! I actually do not mind the fret markers, but I do like quirky looks! Some minor issues as you pointed out, but for the price, what can you expect? She sounds great! Great video, Jodi! Thank you for all the time you put in on these.
I am getting this ukulele on Thursday, the fret markers were actually a selling point for me, hahaa eveyone has their own preferences :) Thanks for good detailed look and description, it's the closest I can get untill Thursday :)
Hello! Interesting rewiew! I would like to ask you if you now the diferreence in sound between elektric-acoustic and classical ukulele. Is there a difference i chords also, like in guitars? I really liked this kmise model but it would be nice to have a electrik support of the sound when neended.
An electric acoustic doesn’t have its own sound. The pickup just ‘picks up’ the sound of the instrument. So a classical or acoustic ukulele will sound the same as the exact same model that happens to have a pickup. When unplugged. Now, when plugged in, there are other factors that can change the sound including settings in the amp. Am I helping at all?
First of all, your make up looks beautiful. Second don't be self conscious bc someone said you talk too much...the main reason I am your subscriber is bc you are very detailed oriented and really take your time going through the aspects of the instruments and sharing them in a very "honest friend" kinda of talk! I shared this video on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram bc I want to win this uku but i also want your channel to grow!
I agree with you. The fret markers are wrong for this one. I’ve been looking at different decals and Bernadette from Bernadette teaches music (here on RUclips) has a video showing decals she placed on one of her ukes.
I’m so with you on the strap/strap button thing! I’m probably gonna have one installed on my uke just cause holding it up can be a real pain. Side note- I like long reviews! I appreciate all the detailed information.
Thank you for the review. I have a Kmise solid Spruce top baritone uke I paid $69 for. It has great sound, no complaints about the finish or extras that came with it. I shared the video with family... my granddaughter is obsessed with the uke! Please keep being yourself. Anyone watching always has the option to stop at any time. Some people have to be haters, it seems.
Thank you for your honest and thorough opinion. There’s an explosion of ukes coming out of factories in China, so to see a review on any of the brands is nice. Except that Kmise has so few reviews, all I have seen thus far have been favorable. I have shared this video with my friend to whom I’ve lent one of my soprano ukuleles. We are both looking into concert or maybe even tenor instruments. ♥️♥️🌺🌺
😂😂😂🤪🤪Somebody may have been “QCPass” over the design and build, but who approved that packaging for shipping?!? Thanks, again, for the review! ♥️🌺♥️That baby is certainly louder and punchier than the Fender given to me for Christmas. Did you arrive at how to pronounce the brand name?
I shared this video in an email to a friend who also plays. I dont really use most social media. I love the look of the uke. The slotted headstock and spruce look amazing, it does look like a much more expensive instrument.
I shared it on my Google plus account for friends. I have actually been looking at this brand now because of your videos. I may get a tenor to take camping.
I'm a little late, but I just wanted to comment on the shipping thing. I don't live in America so I don't know about that, but I got the same model ukulele in a different wood through my local amazon website and it did also come from China. Also came in JUST the ukulele box, fortunately it was inside the gig bag, but still not very well protected.
Hello, I got an electric one but the sound is very flat in the speakers. I need some help. Any suggestion on how to improve it? What kind of strings would you suggest?
Just received mine yesterday. For a $50 Uke made in China it is pretty nice. The tuners could be better, but for the price it is great. Definitely not my Oscar Schmidt, but hey it plays well.
Dont worry about talking to much! I actually like that you dont just show the Ukulele, tell us the strings and play it for a minute like others do in their reviews. I just saw the banjolele compare Video and i liked how long and thorough it was and that you played them so much and in different styles in the Video :)
Nice review. Just took delivery of one. I found a minor problem in hat the uke has a shorter scale length (by about 3mm) than needed. If I fret at the 12th fret the notes are sharp. As I mainly play at 'tother end it it is not too much of a problem, but! The box is 'boomey' compared with my other ukes (aria 250 concert, cordoba 22tce tenor) which seems common at this price point but it 'looked' better than this. Changing the strings to Aquila 'sugars' helped the tone (to my ears). It will do until the aria has its bridge glued back on, as a concert is easier to jam into my backpack than a tenor. Good value, with minor 'faults'. Worth the money.
Seems like there are really 3 solid wood topped under $60-70 that with buying as a beginner- Kmise solid spruce, Aklot solid mahogany and maybe Barking solid mahogany/spruce. Nice to hear this one plays well enough for the price bracket.
Thanks for such a detailed review! Very helpful. I agree with your husband, it does look expensive! 😊 I shared this by email and I’m from the United States.
Amazing & detailed review😊😊😊 I like ukes with slotted headstock. By the way, it’s totally fine to talk a lot ( because I do the same lol!!!) I also play guitar and i love my guitar with a Solid Spruce top & mahogany back&sides🤗🤗🤗🔈🎶🎙✌🏻❤️
Nice review! I shared this in a text to my wife. I have been telling her about your channel. 😊 The joint in the neck is called a Scarf Joint and it is a common joint near the headstock of Ukuleles. Also, if you look very close, I do believe the light spots at the tip and right corner of the headstock are actually caused by sanding through the veneer used to face the headstock. Lastly I really like the top. The two halves do appear to change color as they reflected light differently. Sometimes they looked the same and sometimes one or the other would get lighter or darker depending on how the light was hitting them in the video. Keep up the great work.
Cool. I didn’t know there was a name for that kind of joint. Thank you. I can use that term next time I see one and sound smart. 😆 Maybe it is from too much sanding. I didn’t think so because it is so smooth when you run your finger across it. But then again, that’s what’s sanding does, right?
@@girlmeetsuke2980 Yes modern veneers are paper thin and all it takes is the tiniest slip of the sanding device or the piece to burn through the edge of the veneer while smoothing and prepping the wood for finishing.
This ukulele has about the same appointments and quality as the ones you and I received from Vasko. Right down to the same package of accessories! I've shared this on Facebook with friends who are thinking of taking up playing the ukulele. Don't forget to play your ukulele today ..... In the dark!
I really appreciate your spirit. I really wish you would mention how much the intonation goes off as you go up the neck. After all it's probably the biggest problem cheap stringed instruments have. How it looks is far down the list of importance. Keep posting!
Surprised to see overall positive reviews for some inexpensive ukes. That's a very good thing! For the headstock blemish you could try a very light furniture touch up marker....but go lighter than you think you will need and darken if desired.
For $65 I like it a lot! I like the slotted headstock, and like you said, it has that classical guitar look, and I like that. But the fret markers... How you mentioned playing in the dark, in school I was taught to listen to music with my eyes closed for that reason. I can hear better! And whoever said you talk too much, I like your videos and listening to you talk. But would it make you self-conscious if I said I focus on your fingerpicking?
That sounds like a great deal for people who want a respectable ukulele without spending a ton of money. I shared this video on twitter, so my 219 followers now know. :)?
My Kalas with slotted headstock are like that. Compensated saddle is really cool probably something better than Plastic like Tusq or Newbone. The longer the video the better for your channel let us all give you as much watch time as possible, we can always turn off the video.
@@girlmeetsuke2980 thanks!!! I got and KMISE LOL but for some reason it is really good it stays in tune the sound is really good.... Not to brag but mine is only better than yours bc of the price if u bought it for a little more you would not be disappointed.. My mom is a music teacher and she told me this uk is really good so yah
GirlMeetsUke ...Yes, hard to put down, so sweet. I tell folks to leave it out, as it is crying to be played, and you can't hear it when its zipped into its case.
Thanks for the crickets. 🦗 I do think it helps anytime someone interacts with my video albeit commenting, liking it or sharing it. It tells the RUclips robots that people like my content. Or something like that. 😂

Thanks for the review. It looks really nice and sounds good. It is unfortunate about the minor quality control issues.
Something interesting is that the same listing now claims the back and sides are made from ebony, but the product looks identical to yours. Suspicious

I like the contrast front from the back. Shared to Pintrest. What is the reason for a slotted headstock? Just looks??
Some say it helps with intonation. Others say it’s just for looks. Not sure myself... 😉

Thank you so much for the feedback!
Nice to hear this one plays well enough for the price bracket.
just got a flame Bari..no build complaints..if so..so what it' my new Beater as my old beater goes to my Buddy Bobby.
Thanks for such a detailed review! Very helpful. I agree with your husband, it does look expensive! 😊 I shared this by email and I’m from the United States.
In one year your subscribers have almost quadrupled!
Really? That’s pretty cool! I hope the trend continues. 😁
I share it to my friends by the way interesting review!😊
Thanks so much ❤️
Amazing & detailed review😊😊😊 I like ukes with slotted headstock. By the way, it’s totally fine to talk a lot ( because I do the same lol!!!) I also play guitar and i love my guitar with a Solid Spruce top & mahogany back&sides🤗🤗🤗🔈🎶🎙✌🏻❤️
I shared this vid in a private message to my group of friends. They know I really am interested in uke. Hope to inspire them to get a uke too
Nice review!
I shared this in a text to my wife. I have been telling her about your channel. 😊
The joint in the neck is called a Scarf Joint and it is a common joint near the headstock of Ukuleles.
Maybe it is from too much sanding.
Thanks Henry. 😊 Have you tried it?
GirlMeetsUke
Not this one but another model and their banjolele
haha, I meant playing in the dark.
GirlMeetsUke
Ha! Oh yes and in many different situations.
I know. I’ve seen your driving while playing video. 😳😂
I really appreciate your spirit. I really wish you would mention how much the intonation goes off as you go up the neck. After all it's probably the biggest problem cheap stringed instruments have. How it looks is far down the list of importance.
Keep posting!
With mine the 12th fret maintains the open chord. It may be a little sharp or flat with my tuner, but still GCEA.
Shared via twitter for you..... Hello from Liverpool, UK :)
I shared your link on Rich Davis' youtube channel (on his recent "why can't I tune my ukulele" video). :)
Thank you, Holly. ❤️
Nice review, and thanku for the chance
I bought this ukulele
Thanks I’m 12 and buying a ukulele for myself I play guitar and this is the uke I want to buy the video helped me out
So glad I could help!
Maybe... 😉
@@girlmeetsuke2980 you do such a good job playing with your fingertips, and i don't!
Thank you. 😊
Thanks for the review!

Done sharing it on my face book from the Philippines 🙂
This solid spruce top concert ukulele sounds really good at $68.
Update 2 years later. I finally got one of these. I got it from my friend Rich Davis and like it very much indeed. MikeinMinnesota

When u said, " hope u play ukulele today" butttt i didn't. Hv a lot of work today. Maybe tomorrow.
Here’s hoping you find some time tomorrow. 😊
Shared on Facebook 👏👍🏻
That sounds like a great deal for people who want a respectable ukulele without spending a ton of money.
I shared this video on twitter, so my 219 followers now know. :)?
My grandma bought this for me!
That’s awesome! I hope you love it!!
I got it in the mail today! I'm not sure what the red thing with the metal pieces are, though.
I shared this with my Facebook friends.
My Kalas with slotted headstock are like that. Compensated saddle is really cool probably something better than Plastic like Tusq or Newbone. The longer the video the better for your channel let us all give you as much watch time as possible, we can always turn off the video.
Good point!
Like from Brazil.
Just finished the whole 20min video and i have exams tomorrow 😂 its 1:00 am and shared it on facebook 😆
Thank you!! Good luck on your exams. Where do you live? Certainly not the USA if it’s 1am. 😊
GirlMeetsUke Wow thanks! Just finished my exams. Im from Philippines :))
Matthew Policarpio, you’ll be happy to know that I am also going to have a prize for my international subscribers.
GirlMeetsUke I am! Can’t wait for that 😀

My mom is a music teacher and she told me this uk is really good so yah
haane martins that’s awesome! Have fun with it. ❤️ I know I’ve had a hard time putting this one down since I got it. 😂
GirlMeetsUke ...Yes, hard to put down, so sweet. I tell folks to leave it out, as it is crying to be played, and you can't hear it when its zipped into its case.
Are you the sister of Joe Bonamassa ?
Hope u pick me its a preery gift for my daughter
Shared on Twitter but I don't have many followers, it's pretty much just cricket sounds on my Twitter account.
Thanks for the crickets. 🦗 I do think it helps anytime someone interacts with my video albeit commenting, liking it or sharing it. It tells the RUclips robots that people like my content. Or something like that. 😂
I bought this ukulele and it’s ass
What was wrong with it? Was the action too high? Lots of blemishes? Didn’t like the sound? It’s helpful to hear other people’s experiences.
The sea stars and whale are cool!!!!
