This is especially comical considering her roots are likely tied to the Spanish colonization of the Americas.

Whenever I get a chance I like to remind people that the illegal immigrants the US gets from the southern border are just a continuation of Spanish colonialism. I had a blond haired blue eyed friend in college who clamed to be 25% native American. I chuckled and reminded her that I know both her very Swedish blond blue-eyed parents. She insisted that they were each 1/8th native (even though they were both born in Sweden and had funny accents to prove it). I asked her why she was paying for college? Didn't she know that being 25% native American would qualify her for free school? She stormed off in a huff and never mentioned it again ;) Every now and then, someone in our group of friends would refer to her as "little blond feather". I guess everyone wants a better slice of the victim pie.

Being biologically native vs tribal native is a debate I would love to see. I'm yaqui born on the rez but never grew up with yaqui teaching or in the rez. My father is 1/2 I'm 1/4, my wife is half but also didn't grow up on the rez. Trials don't see us as native.

Of all the Natives I know from Alaskan to the other regions I've never heard one try and keep a cadence. You can see facial features and even a little in voice, but not this.
This is a weird dichotomy to me. You are either Hispanic or Native. The reason Hispanics are brown isn't because of the European heritage. My grandparents would claim to be Mexican/Tejano. My family has existed on the land way before Texas was founded. It trips me out because I took a DNA test that said I am 65% Native American from the people that existed in the Rio Grande Valley. That's a higher percentage than some of my friends that I served in the military with. They were collecting checks from the govt because they had ties to people on reservations. They are considered "true" Natives but not my family that were range Vaqeuros into the 1960s.
Eh, the climate of southern Spain(plus the Arabs and Berbers) might also contribute to some Hispanics having brown/darker skin.
But that being said a lot of Hispanics just look like any other “white” people... hell my grandfather who was about 100% Spanish(family came to East Texas in the 1600s) was paler then my dad... who is half German.

Many Mexicans are darker skinned because the Spanish bred with the natives that lived in what would later become Mexico.

My point is the reason you can't really tell the difference between north American and Central American Hispanics from natives is because we are natives. Assimilation and intermarriage stripped us from our native heritage. For example my great grandmother was obviously 100% native but she would claim Mexican. That's because her and my great grandfather's families had been ranch hands as far back as Spanish colonization. Their grandparents gave up the tribal life for economic benefit.
