    Thank you so much for posting this. You sold me. I must have one! Seriously gonna buy one tomorrow. I would have liked it if you talked about the wifi and such, but you never suggested this was a review. Thank you!

      Well I'm happy to elaborate!
      The wifi has never given me an issue. With a connection, you get a few additional features besides being able to use it from your phone.
      you get:
      - to see the temperature the unit is reading.
      - to set a weekly schedule as opposed to the basic timer.
      - energy usage reporting.
      I've had this unit for 2 years now and I'm yet to have an issue. However, it's worth noting that they've updated this since I got this one. It is now approximately 10 lb lighter because of a new (and much smaller) compressor.

    You said it was improperly installed, but i was thinking you installed it like this becasue your HOA does not allow them to be installed out the window. Its that way for myfriend, and she did not want a portable so i butted the back of the condenser to the window screen, made a stand so it would keep the unit in place. Only issue withe it being installed like this, is you are sucking the air from your room that is being cooled just like a single hose portable ac does. If you had a bigger window you could make side ducts out of duct board snd make it to where it draws outside air into the side louvers and not air from room its cooling. Due to this unit being so efficient you could probably duct one side, and just block the louvers on the other side. Great unit, and video.

    • @Smurdle450
      @Smurdle450  Год назад

      That makes two people who have commented and said they've done the exact same thing. I'm honestly impressed that people are bold enough to do something this stupid.
      I mean, it works, and it still works better than a portable, but yeah.
      The reason for the installation is similar, except I don't have an HOA. I have a grandparent who doesn't want stuff hanging out of their window. Fair enough, I guess, guess I'll do it this way lol
      I still love this unit!

    Hey Jerry, I saw your video of the LG DUAL Inverter Window Air Conditioner. Was it an issue having the unit mostly inside the window instead of sticking out of the window? I ask because I'm 16 stories up, and I feel it would be safer to do the same thing, as I don't want it falling out of the window. I'm curious if it still functioned properly and/or if you made adjustments with guiding airflow from the vents on the side. Thanks man!

    • @Smurdle450
      @Smurdle450  2 месяца назад

      Sorry for the very late response. 2 years after this video, the unit continues to run like a champ in these circumstances. I do not recommend doing this unless you absolutely have to though, as it does reduce the efficiency of the unit. No modifications were made to the venting, the unit was simply pushed into place.

      They do BUT they said there’s no need to take it out , it’s the rubber drain to be used only when being put away during the off season. Otherwise the water stays 1/2 inch and the fan picks up the water and splashes back to the pipes. That’s how the water is drained. Weird lol Here’s what it says. Do not drill a hole in the bottom pan.
      The product is designed to operate with approximately 1/2" of water in the bottom pan.
      There is no need to add water if the pan is dry.
      • Under normal circumstances, this drain cap should not be removed. The drain cap allows water removal if the air conditioner is being stored for the season or if a technician needs remove the water.

    I just replaced my Dreo 8000 btu inverter air conditioner with the LG 9400 btu dual inverter air conditioner. The Dreo made noises like yours did at startup, my LG is silent. The Dreo also vibrated a lot more because single inverters arent as harmonically balanced as dual inverters. The thing I hated about the Dreo the most was the design, the front compartment wasn't draining as it should essentially due to poor design, causing the standing water inside to become stagnant and stink. Over time, mold, literal mold, formed on the fan blade due to the excessive moisture/humidity inside caused by the stagnant standing water. The unit was level and slightly tilted back as stated in the manual. Even after placing a shim under one side the water still did not drain out as it should. Awful design! I bought it for the automatic louver which ended up being the one and only good thing avout it...

      Glad you like your LG! The dual inverter compressor runs really smooth since it's got 2 "cylinders" rather than one, hence the name of DUAL Inverter.
      And yeah, this LG would be a lot quieter if I had it properly installed, but since I'm not allowed to do that in this house, I've gotta just live with this config.
      Oh well, And if you're wondering why I didn't try a portable, I did at first.

      @@bikebudha01 Even then, this video does a very poor job of accurately the representing the noise level. Even on the outside it is considerably quieter than a traditional window unit when it's not running on max. The camera makes the high pitch whine sound especially bad

    Oh my gosh, that is so installed wrong. Why would you install it like that in the first place? You are losing so much efficiency. You're sucking the air you just cool down from inside the room and blowing it outside through the outside condenser. I'm not trying to be rude. Maybe it's because I don't understand your circumstances. Anyway have a blessed day.
    PS. I am assuming your HMO may not allow you to have an air conditioner sticking out a window. If you have a larger window you could possibly build a air duct system that would allow it to suck the air in through the louvers from the outside. Anyway as before have a blessed day.

      Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure I broke every single rule in the installation manual with this abomination. In essence this works like a portable air conditioner in this case, because single hose portables do the same thing where they suck the cool air out of the room.
      That's correct, I'm not allowed to hang things out of my window, and that's why this total abomination exists.
      So why didn't I go with a portable? I did some tests with a portable and determined that this performed better and was more energy efficient, despite the egregious flaws.
      I will probably rig up a method to pull in outside air instead of doing what I'm doing now, But It's not a top priority because this still works way better than a portable.
      Have a blessed day to you as well!

      @Smurdle450 in that case, I feel what you've done is totally justified. I would have probably done something similar in the same situation. Again, have a blessed day.
