  • Glasses - I’m using Oakley Sutro. I use to never use glasses but I had a branch hit right below my eye…It literally knocked me off my bike!
-Trail focus - Always look where you want to go not where you may crash. If you look there you will ride right to it.
-BMX, Aggressive downhills, or big drops. If you come up on them on the trail just know if you haven’t practice jumps or downhills to that level chance are things may get sketchy….
-Never judge - I’ve seen large, small, old, young, ripping the trails. Never judge anyone.
-Trail head - I know most are squeezing so much everyday. There is such a great energy at the trail head. Next time try to take a minute to enjoy it.
-MTB trail splits - question… short but difficult to longer and easier…
-Trail roots - Trails that get ridden on when wet get broke down and expose roots… The things about roots when they get wet they become way slippery! Your front wheel slide big time!
-Riding Smart - As I have gotten older I have to ride smarter. When younger I could power/muscle through big or steep climbs. Now I use shifting to my advantage.

Winter and a few feet of snow as well change the trail for branches. The ones that were not trimmed are at eye level now and can be sharp. One surprise I get last winter was going and ducking under a leaning tree branch with leaves and so there was a one inch round branch that went straight into the hole on the top of my helmet. The angle was so that it stopped my head and the rest of me kept going, but I wasn't going fast, so I stopped.
It bent a little, so it worked out but if I was going fast, I was going to be pulled off the bike

      A) Thanks for sharing.
      B) That could been bad!
      I’m glad you’re okay.
The branch that hit me literally took me off my bike….
Keep an eye open for low branches.
RIDEFAT and have a nice evening
