Okay, this is the first ever video that needed a trigger warning. Feminist artists were fighting against a lot of sexism and gender bias and they pulled every tool out the toolbox to fight the patriarchy and by tool I mean...well never mean what I mean. Just be aware this video has a LOT of nudity and sexual content. You've been warned and please don't tell my mom. In between me blushing we talk about the foundation of feminist art, including Womanhouse under the CalArts program and take it all the way to the fracturing of 2nd Wave Feminism with Hannah Wilke and Ana Mendieta. Enjoy.

Thank you so much for your lectures! I returned to school after a gap of 50 years to finish my sculpture degree. Your lectures supplemented my class expanding my knowledge and understanding of art in a most interesting way and with humor!

I have been binging all these videos. BFA grad from RMCAD in graphic design, but I don’t feel like my art history went past pop art and I feel like I don’t know a lot about current artists or contemporary movements besides street art, and went through a refresher from the beginning of your modern art history courses. I really enjoy all your lectures and commentary. Would be cool if there were more reference pics but I really enjoy all the side story and extra goodies you throw in about the artists or relative points. Thank you for posting these to you tube for free, and for all the dad jokes! 😄🙏☮

Hey Travis! I wanted to comment this on the Graffiti And Street Art lecture, but the comments were turned off. So, I chose this one before I start it. Have you ever heard of the graffiti artist “REVS?" He was super active in the 80s and 90s before he got arrested for vandalism. He sprayed huge diary entries on walls in various abandoned/underground locations in NYC. Literal diary entries. They are so fascinating. There isn’t much extensive cataloguing of his entries, about 15 are online. I find them deeply fascinating and oddly nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even alive for.

Males are now being discriminated against and harmed. Your bleeding heart over generalizes. Women have great power now to dominate environments. The issues are how to be individual and separate with some small comprise without degrading the other side.
