    Cool seeing how knives have changed and stayed the same in the last 10 or so years. Fun video

  • @whatwehidebehind

    I've just developed this collective sickness myself. I had a bunch of kershaw chinese stuff for a while then I really wanted a quartermaster qtr3...Last 2 knives bought were a para2 and a benchmade prisidio so my taste is getting more expensive. Thanks for the little tour of some knives that could possibly end up as a high end blade for my collection

    • @pyaoliang
      @pyaoliang  10 лет назад

      Honestly that's really why I make these videos so people can see what's out there. That's why I watch other people's vids too. The Para2 is a great knife. Don't think that one will ever leave my collection.

    In impressive, well organized collection... I'm gonna take a stab at its value... in that case alone.. its an easy 13-15K ... probably closer to 16-17K .... jaw dropping...

    Sheesh I thought my Gibson Guitar Collection was something to look at but man your knife collection I think is one of a kind. I am getting addicted but I don't see these style of knives you have. The vast collection you have has the same style as opposed to the Kershaw or other affordable usa knives. I had know regret in spending about 40 minutes watching your entire video thanks for shareing.

    • @pyaoliang
      @pyaoliang  10 лет назад

      Thanks. There's more variation in the custom world. I discovered that later in my collecting. Production stuff is great, but typically redundant. Although some customs can be redundant too I guess.

  • @wadepage7809
    @wadepage7809 10 лет назад +1

    Very nice collection. I like videos like this one. Knives, knives and more knives. You started out modest and moved up, up and up to the Boedegas. Cool execution. Gotta love a large Pelican stuffed full of knives! Thanks for taking the time for those of us less fortunates who must live vicariously. ;)

    • @pyaoliang
      @pyaoliang  10 лет назад +1

      Thanks a lot for the comment! Really it's about seeing what's out there so that you can pick and choose what kind of knife you'd want to get in the future. A lot of guys before me helped me to get to where I am now. Although I probably need to sell a bunch of these off. :P

    • @wadepage7809
      @wadepage7809 10 лет назад +1

      I think anyone would be proud to have your collection. I'll have to be happy with budget knives for now, and live vicariously through you and others with similar tastes and collections. Keep up the good work. I'll just sit here and flick my new CRKT Crawford Kasper (satin blade). :)

    Thanks for taking the time to show us your "whole shebang" P! Some might think it long, but for us with the "affliction" it was just right. It also helps us to know who you are when seeing your posts on USN/Jersey D/BF etc.
    Nicely done!

    If it's the Umnumzaan you're talking about, it's a bit confusing. There's a lower end company CRKT which stands for Columbia River Knife & Tool. They make budget knives. Not terrible, but nothing great. CRK stands for Chris Reeve Knives. Chris Reeve is a high end knife maker who has one quality manufacturing awards for 13 of the last 14 years. His Sebenza and Umnumzaan are industry standards. Keep watching the videos and you'll learn a lot about the knife industry! Thanks for watching!

    I'm definitely not a wealthy man. Not by any stretch of the imagination. I try to manage what I can, and hope that I can make back what I've put into these knives. Especially the customs. The best thing about many of these knives is that they hold their value pretty well. And yes, the collection is well over 10K. Thanks for watching.

    Great collection I'm serious, I really like fix blades since I'm a fix blade guy, but I like full handles on my knives even on my neck knife carry, like my John Bradley World's Finest Camp Knife, my Skookum Bush Tool, my Anneversary Mean Street LE, my Swamp Rat Rodent Solution, I have more, but don't get me wrong, I do have smaller handle knives that I use top like my Bark River Woodland Special and my Top's Mini Scandi and other's, and I do have some folder's too my favorite are my vintage Al-Mar's I have a beautiful set with the Eagle being the largest, my Cold Steel Talwar and my Black Sable both in San Mai and titanium handles, also my Rajah 1 and Black Rhino, and my vintage S.O.G. TomCat what a beauty, and a bunch of pocket knives U.S. A Schrades, Westerns, Ka-Bar's, and other's, Thanx for reminding me of some of my knives and Thanx for sharing your, very nice and a great review Thanx.

    CTS-204P is known as being more like M390, FWIW. S90V has a little more than double the vanadium that 204P has but 204P has more chromium as well as some silicon and tungsten. They are both amazing though. Nice collection.

    How does titanium perform as a blade?

    • @pyaoliang
      @pyaoliang  10 лет назад +1

      Typically titanium is softer than heat treated steel so it won't hold an edge better than steel. The way to counteract the softness is to put a tungsten carbide edge on the edge of the titanium which then puts a harder edge on the Ti blade. The Ti will still wear faster than steel, but I've heard that it in some senses, self sharpens as the Ti wears down and the carbide edge remains. It typically is a little "toothier" than a polish sharpened steel as well. The benefits though is that it's entirely corrosion free. Which is why I plan to always keep my WT.

    What is the purpose of the Z on your keys?

    • @pyaoliang
      @pyaoliang  10 лет назад

      That's called a Z-dangler. It's a small alternative (less bulky) to say a carabiner so you can clip it to you belt loop. I now have Munroe mini-dangler that my friend gave me which has an even small footprint so I use that now. Both are made from titanium which I'm a sucker for.

Btw..some of these knifes you can actually throw open, with a flick of the wrist.; wonder if you ever try that.
