    Thank you for the introduction to Hydrangea ‘Vanille Fraise’, definitely one for the shopping list. I enjoy looking at your plant selections with the accompanying pictures. They certainly provide food for thought. So glad Cosmo is developing his supervisory skills. Where would we be without the kitty imput; inspecting holes, checking out the watering and so many more tasks too numerous to mention 😻

      Glad you like the look of Vanilla Fraise too - it's such a pretty hydrangea. Cosmo is such fun - still a kitten and loving life in the great big outdoors! 😻

    Fun times out in the garden today Annette! Please do not apologize for the weeds, its an absolute reality and your garden still looks glorious! I inherited a massive Grandiflora hydrangea and it has provided so much joy and character in my garden. Best of luck with yours.

      Thanks AJ. I'm so happy to hear you like the Grandiflora - I really hope I can train mine into a nice wide shape like a low tree - fingers crossed my rudimentary skills are up to the task 🤣😬

    Please don’t worry about the weeds, I personally find it refreshing to see a true garden 🪴 that’s is managed by a husband and wife and doesn’t have a team that manages the garden off camera.
    PS: cosmo is absolutely adorable!
    As always, great content and information.

    You have such a lovely property (and disposition) 🤩 A walled garden is so dreamy! Our gardens are truly an added value, aren't they? Although the slugs and snails are big spoilers this spring (it has been very wet in Belgium). I used every method under the sun, including the Nematodes and still have to catch them by hand 😬But in the dark, with a headlight on, I discover the smallest seedlings and I am happy again! 💚

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  6 месяцев назад

      Gosh, thank you so much, that is such a wonderful thing to hear. Yes, I often go out in the evenings after a rainy day to catch the them, but I really do find that the nematodes work pretty well on the slugs. I get quite a lot of satisfaction from disposing of the those pests! 🤣

    You have alot of color already in your garden, and I am a sucker for hydrangeas, some of mine broke off this winter from all the heavy snow so I had to cut them back quite a bit but they will come back, part of the joys of gardening. If I didnt live so far away, across the pond as we say I would definitely help you with the weeding Annette. Everything looks wonderful and love those flowering shrubs. I am just sitting here waiting for the eclipse so I can go back outside later.

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  6 месяцев назад

      Oh, no Jane. That's such a shame but they should recover, I've always found that hydrangeas are pretty tolerant. The recent storm broke 2 branches off my tree peony and I'm devastated. Such a shame.
      How was the eclipse? We didn't;t see anything here...
      I wish we could all get together and have a weeding party in each others gardens - it would be so much fun to chat and weed. Bliss 💚

    I was watching your beautiful video during siesta time and fell asleep so I am going to re watch it. We do sleep in the afternoon in Greece just after lunch. I always cook my meals with pure olive oil which is not sold in the supermarket.

    Great video.I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a weedy front garden. I like my front garden as it is south facing with no overhanging trees from the
    eighbours. Ooh, some exciting news, - my neighbour is allowing us to cut down the 40 feet Gledista that shades our patio and back of our house every afternoon/evening. We are hoping that will make the evenings on the decking more warm and pleasant. We usually have to use the decking half way down the garden to enjoy the last of the sun's rays in the evening. It can be quite chilly on the decking in the evenings. So happy 🙂. I think it will also allow my Prunus Amangowa more light and it will be healthier. my predecessor planted it, I think when the Gledista was much smaller. In the last 14 years the tree has grown and the poor cherry is gradually being shaded out, Love the plants you've put in today, especially the Spirea. Last year, for Valentine, my hubster bought me a lovely Paniculata Hydrangea called Bloody Marie. So pretty. I love it. I was getting worried as no shoots were appearing. I hadn't realised they are much later starting into growth than the Macrophyllas Fortunately I did know the varieties have differing pruning regimes. Happy gardening 🙂 x

      @@cottoverdi Thank you Annette. I am sad to take down trees, it seems murderous, but why oh why do people insist on planting 'little' 6ft trees in theur gardens without checking their mature spread and height? Surely it was easy enough at the nursery/garden centre to check it out. Is it just lack of knowledge or a couldn't care less attitude that they will be moving on in 10 years time so the tree won't be a problem for them? Who knows but there are so many small garden trees to choose from, that's it's a shame some choose not to do any research before rushing out and buying the first tree they like the look of. Mini moan over, so sorry. Hope your front gardening is going well. I think we're in for some nice weather over the weekend so hopefully get a few jobs done. The storm blew over my plant tray racking- lots of plants all in a heap on the ground. Many brassica seedlings, quite indistinguishable from each other, so I will be taking pot luck when i plant them. Interesting!🤣Happy gardening

    Thank you for the inspiration, Annette! I'm looking out the window at my 8 foot tall Pee Gee hydrangea that I've neglected the past two Springs. Today's the day to get after it. Let's hope I don't get distracted by the huge pile of compost just next to it that needs spreading, or last year's tattered leaves on the hellebores, or ..... ;)

      Haha, it seems that we gardeners are all the same - getting distracted by tasks and projects - it's so hard to decide which one needs to be done first. At least my video spurred Richard on and I found him weeding the front garden - he made a start - there's so much more to do!!!
