⚔️ DESTINY IS ALL! ⚔️ What did you think of the last season? CORRECTION: Hild and Uhtred are not lovers in the show. I was checking out the Last Kingdom wiki and apparently they are in the books, but not the show. Check out my other historical videos here: ruclips.net/p/PLY9KJ1cFVs7geVqrZ0FiXBduR2SxRSajx
Loved every minute of it, I only wish I got to see him find love once more in the future but for his story I couldn't have ended it better in my head. P.s the compilation of all he has been through all seasons in the end brought me to tears

Well, I've seen some ads for Peaky Blinders. The Last Kingdom? It's like it doesn't even exist. I wouldn't have known it was on again if I hadn't continually visited its IMDB page.
Alexander Dreymon made this show a success just in his ability to portray or capture a bittersweet feeling in his eyes. I hope to see much more of his work in the future.
I enjoyed this series so much couldn't stop watching it. Alexander Dreymon is a fabulous actor. Hope to see him in more roles soon. I am already a fan of this handsome young man...🦋
In his final book in this series Bernard Cornwell thanks Alexander Dreymon for giving Uthred life. I would love to see Bernard Cornwell's book " Harlequin" made into a TV series, another excellent book.
The Last Kingdom is so extremely rich, never a dull moment from the beginning all the way to it's finale. This is easily the best show I've seen in recent memories. It is not only entertaining to the max, but also the stories and the plot lines reflects nearly all aspects of human nature: religion, love, hate, peace, war, family, trauma, greed, honor and more. This is the most complete tv show, it has overachieved itself by miles for it's purpose. wow!
@@khristianvazquez4540 dude, the scenes with Alfred and Uhtred are phenomenal! Whoever plays Alfred was so stellar as the good guy and the bad guy. Everyone bowed at his feet and uhtred didn’t give a crap that he was the king. Seriously some of the best writing I have ever seen acted out by two brilliant actors! I really hope this bring Alex super star status. He could easily carry a massive movie franchise. I’m actually hoping they recruit him to the MCU. I don’t really care for what role. I just want actors with his ability to be in its future. Honestly, he would make for a top notch villain of some sort! I like that he can play the physical parts, serious acting parts, hilarious and his ability to master that accent was amazing!
IDK their might be a season 6??? he got his kingdom back, but will he help Edward son who is Aethelstan to eventually carry king Alfred will??? We will never know when there is a new season or not... XC bc in the history Aethelstan is the first king to united every nation until it was called England. unless i was wronged then sorry!
Me!!!!!+ I literally cried the final scene!!!! But this magnificent series does not need a season 6 or any other season or even movie. This was ending was perfect! Just like how ENDGAME culminated 10yrs of storytelling and that no other Phase would compare.
@@asian123205 i would rather that be a different series told from Aethalstan's perspective! With touches of Uhtred in it of course. But Uhtred's story is over.
“The Last Kingdom” is an excellent show and the final season is one of the greatest final seasons of all time, and it’s way better than “Game of Thrones.”
This is a correct assessment and I've been trying for years to tell people this but no one believes me because there's very little advertising on this show.
@@coachYte he can have his own opinion about a show, so can you and I. If he thinks they are comparable then they are to him. If you choose not to compare them, that's your business. Both opinions can be held but you don't have to attack someone personally for an opinion about a TV show.
100% correct. I am just disappointed there isn't another two seasons. The Last Kingdom movie is going to try and condense three books in two hours. That won't come close to do it the justice the last three books. It will likely still be a great movie, but the amount of story cut will be disappointing.
Absolutely the best show on Netflix; arguably the best show PERIOD. The relationship between Lady Aelswith and Uhtred is one of the best progressions in any show!
I've totally fell in love with this series. I've watched all 5 episodes 3 times and will probably watch again. I've also read all 13 books. It's too bad it couldn't have lasted longer. AAA+. Actually I have started over again for the fifth time ⏰. I just love everything about this show, all the cast. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
I thought it was great that since Uhtred saved his life, in the end he repaid the debt by not outing the plan. Everything in the middle where he almost killed Uhtred just makes it all the better how in the end he has honor
They wanted to extend it but i think not many watched it so they had to wrap it up. It’s the best medieval series i have ever seen better than vikings and Spartacus
@@AmazingJayB51 you mean since it had no real main character. They kept shifting between ivar herold and bjorn. I liked bjorn I wished his father would have witnessed his great achievements.
I have heard it said that Last Kingdom is one of the best series of all time and I concur. Everything about it is outstanding and painstakingly authentic. Of course the story is not precisely historically correct but the acting, the writing, the production and the directing are so spot on. Each season became better then the previous one. BRAVO!!!! WELL DONE!!!
That was the greatest ending for a great show.. everything answered everything put into place wonderfully... i cried with uthred in the end when I thought the hell he had to endure to finally get his home... the stupid writers of GOT should watch this last season to learn how to finish a beautiful story without destroying it forever... they completely deleted the story from the minds of the people... WE LOVE YOU UTHRED finally OF BEBANBURGH
Imagine if at the end uthred says when he finally gets bebanburgh I never wanted it and says to Edward your my king and then kisses him on the lips and it's revealed that their uncle and nephew and at the very end uthred stabs Edward and uthred is banished into Scotland And they elected some random crippled kid as the new king because he claims that he can see into the future and past even though that no one ever seen him do it and makes absolutely no sense for the nobles to elect him oh also Wessex became the holy Roman empire

That last part were uhtred was crying and remembering all he went through must be a great feeling , he loved the role and must be hard see it coming to an end , can’t wait for the movie and how it concludes .
By far the best show I have ever watched based on history. Truly my favourite show. I have watched it twice. I can't wait for the next season.❤❤ love it.
i just don't know how you fit 3 books into a movie...i love this series and i just don't want this to take a GoT type of swing from being fantastic up until the last season and in this case movie and kinda having a disappointing ending for the franchise i love.
@@Evlmonkey22 They are putting in books 11 and 12 into the film. Will be very interested to see how they get around telling those books, seeing they have so much in them.
When he cried after the war was over, that was the first time of the serie I cried too, so much he did and everything he been through actually was really insane. This show is probably my 2 best of all time.
Best show I've ever seen on Netflix. It leaves Game of Thrones in the dust. They kept to the original books as much as possible. Superb dialogue and no suffering wooden actors with at most 3 expressions. The acting is excellent throughout.
@@mastopakya To be fair most people were much shorter back then so the show was still accurate depicting uthred’s character, they just had to make every other character shorter lol.
@@daniellac.7588 If you liked the series, then you will love the books. There are 13 of them, so it's a long read, but well worth it. There is so much more depth of character in book that you never get in a movie.
Hild and Uthred were the most loyal of friends. They were never lovers. Hild devoted her life to God and Uthred always teased her saying "You will always be too good a woman for God alone." 😊❤ I love their friendship! ❤ I have a friend of my own who I share a similar loyalty and devotion with. Love comes in many forms. It's rare, but men and women can have a beautiful, lasting, and intimate friendship without being lovers.
My sentiments exactly! I can say this is by far the only show that I watched through and through and did not skip anything, no boring characters, no boring story lines. I was ready for more because I mistakenly thought it was 6 seasons.
Ignored TLK it for years whenever it showed up on my Netflix home page. Then discovering Season 5 was the finale, gave it a shot at long last. Was immediately hooked and quickly invested in many of the characters - not least Uhtred, the excellent Alexander Dreymon, showing off his acting chops from action man to grieving friend/husband etc. Not often I come to the end of a series and wish it hadn't ended.
Hild and Uhtred were not lovers. She raised his last son Osbert and he knew about this son. It was not a surprise. The mother was his wife who died during childbirth.
I've watched the last Kingdom since season 1 I think each and every season is phenomenal the fifth season was way past phenomenal it was a wonderful wonderful wonderful season I enjoyed watching it and I cannot wait to start reading all the books and watching the movie The seven Kings must die it's going to wrap it up all in a nice bow and I just can't wait to see when it what happens
The ending 🥺 this show will stay with me forever. I hope everyone involved in this show goes really far in their careers and brings more great storytelling to the world!!
When Brida died it broke my heart. I totally sympathized with her. I felt like she always got the short end of the stick. I wanted Uhtred and Brida to end up together so bad lol… this was a great show!
Brida is like the wife/MIL who just marries into a family yet acts like her blood is their bloodline. Brida is no dane and could never be a dane but just another Anglo Saxon who is so full of hate especially hatred for the wrong people in her life because she could never see truth
It's interesting how Aethelstan defeats Uthred in a practice match at the end of the series (@10:12) and how he helps Uthred stand after Uthred was in his knees. May be a symbol of what's to come in the movie?
I absolutely loved the Last Kingdom and couldn’t stop watching, I hadn’t heard of it till the last season came out but once I started watching. Literally watched 5 seasons in less than a week, it was so powerful I felt all the pain and all the joy Uhtred experienced and was so elated when he finally got what had been stolen from him as a boy. Sad it’s over but what a ride if you haven’t seen it do yourself a favor and put it on your schedule you’ll be glad you did 💯
If you think the show is great, the books are so much better. I had read them a couple of years before the show came out & when it did I was like, “that’s uhtred!” & I loved the tv shows, they did the books true justice, but you get so much more detail in the books, they last longer too. Bernard Cornwell did an amazing job of them. Highly recommend 👍🏻 if you’ve loved the show reading them.
@@ryderwilson7955 My fave part was when Aelswith said, she killed someone with her bare hands and it was not exaggerated, because she wasn't wearing gloves.
@TheHonestDutch/Irish/Italian guy I was laughing my ass off at the end of Season 5 when she talked about how healthy the sea air was at Bebbanburg and that she'd require a room with a sea view - the look on Uhtred's face 😂
I don't think I am mistaken . Wasn't utreds father a king. That first season when the Danes are discussing the 3 king s and only Utreds father was the warrior almost them
This series was one of the BEST. My husband and fell in and out of love with the characters! It’s a shame there isn’t more. Uhtred still has many years of his life that fans would love to follow. KUDOS to the cast and crew!!!!!

I was so happy when uhthred said to the king that Bebbanburg isn’t bowing down to him any time soon, he didn't suffer all this time just to serve under King Edward’s reign😁
The ONLY thing I didn't like about the show is how they failed to 'age' the characters. For example, in season 1 Edward was still a baby, in season 5 Edward's SON is now fully grown up, yet Uhtred still looks the same lol
Indeed! Aelswith, Alfred's widow, is a grandmother by about season 3 or 4 yet all they did to age her was put some grey into her hair. Incidently, Eliza Butterworth who does a great job portraying her is only 28!
Loved one of the last scenes with Uhtred and Aethelstan. It seems that some time has passed and Untred is older and Aethelstan helps him up. Very touching. I wish though we had been able to see how the relationship between Eidith and Uhtred turned out, just to know that maybe Uhtred had found some personal contentment. Pins and needles waiting for 7 Kings.
It breaks my heart that his family didn’t see him get his home back. His parents are dead along with his siblings and his wife and Brida is dead - I understand why she is gone but it would have been a beautiful moment for him to have her see him get his home back and have someone from his childhood there with him.
What an amazing show! One of the most surprising things for me this season was Lady Aelswiths development, for once I actually enjoyed seeing her on screen
Love TLK & plan to watch the entire series again. The acting is fabulous, the story is epic & all that went into making the series is great. I love Uhtred’s steadfastness in the face of all of the problems he faced. He was used by many but he made the best of it. He was courageous, brave & a great warrior. Alexander Dreymon is a superb actor & I loved watching him & the entire wonderful cast.

I don't know why, but I randomly watched this show one day a few years ago and it ended up being one of the best shows I've seen. It was done very well and didn't suffer from all the shortcomings of GOT towards the end. It feels like it could've gone on one more season, but maybe this is the right way to do it. I hadn't normally watched shows like this in the past, but I'm glad a took a chance on this one, it paid off. Highly recommended to anyone.
This was the best series to watch for me, in a long time. It never fell short, anywhere for me. A well deserved ending. 👏 I cannot wait to see the movie, if it's anything like the series.
Low key one of the best book television adaptations of all time. Sad to see it come to an end but the finale was great. Hope more people see it and it becomes a cult classic
The honour, the courage, the kindred spirit, the patriotism, the pain, the history- all woven tightly together in what is a magnificent show. It's grandiose but intimate. The characters have a great fellowship between them. We all long for connections that transcend the banal, the petty and frivolous. These guys have what we crave in abundance. Amazing, just amazing. Thank you
I liked this show better than Vikings, as Vikings went full GoT in the last seasons. Would have loved more connection to the sons and grandsons of Ragnar Lothbrok, but that's just the fanboy in me. Uhtred as a character is sincerely stupid sometimes (especially the first seasons) but at least they're consistent with his temper and foolhardiness.
I hated the kings the most countless decisions to screw utred after he constantly saved them over and over again but that is probably what they were going for
@@jackfett1407 Yeah, but I'd expect them to be dicks. It takes a certain kind of asshole to be a medieval king. Uhtred got screwed over, but he really didn't help himself when he threatens, shouts and willynilly punch and kill people...
I really enjoyed this show from start to finish. I think back to all the times Uthred had to choose between the Danes and Saxon’s, his family or who he fought for, the women he truly loved and all whom he lost! But I still wish him and Eadith would be together in the end… they really appreciate each other…. And every arc satisfied… but Sithric, Finan and Uthred just awesome brotherly love
I didn’t want to watch this series, particularly but my husband did and I got so hooked we watched all over again back to back! I’m really happy to hear there’s a movie. Not so happy to hear Hild described as Uhtred's lover. They were never lovers. He saved her whilst she was being raped by the Danes in Winchester and he held the greatest respect for her during the whole of their friendship. Early on, he was watching her bathe and when she saw him she said she didn’t wish for him to look upon her and he stopped. He never behaved improperly towards her - she was a nun!
My wife & I just finished watching season 5. I loved every moment of this series. Good job, great directing, outstanding creative weighting & special affects.
This was the best series on TV . The ensemble of characters were rich , complex and incredibly believable. Superb acting by all. You were drawn in and fully invested if something untoward occurs your tearing up as if a family member was involved than 5 minutes later, you laugh at the jabs they through at one another. This season was great but the special effects not a good as previous seasons . I am so excited for them, the film is going to be incredible . Please hurry we're waiting .
I noticed there is more CGI in this series, which actually detracts. We are so used to those muddy, smelly towns (although they are all the same one shot from different angles, we ignore that) that the CGI was like a backward step.
Apart from the convenient killing off of a main figure in what appeared to be each episode of the final season, at least the story came full circle back to Uhtred's family home and was completed quite well. This is in stark contrast to Game of Thrones which made no sense - when a Queen talks so long about saving her people, then proceeds to kill them all. WTF???
To be fair, that wasn't the worst part of GoT. Denaerys was slowly turning 'crazy' throughout the show. It's just that they didn't pace it well. The worst part of GoT was that many characters were brushed off and their stories left incomplete
GOT was just done poorly in the end. Danaerys was always written to be the hero that turns villain. She was the wheel, when she stated that she would break the wheel, she was the wheel that needed to be broken. She was "the conqueror, not the queen". She would take with "Fire and Blood". Her storyline was that of Cleopatra while one of Jon Snow's storylines was Marc Anthony and one of Tyrion's storylines was that of Octavian. Over and over it was stated that Targaryans descend into madness at the flip of a coin. What was "written" correctly by GRR Martin, was poorly portrayed in film by the showrunners as they kept her the "hero", instead of making her descent into villain more gradual in seasons 5,6,7. Her cruelty towards the "masters" was overlooked by the viewer because the "masters" were the villain. The deaths of the Tarly's were intended to show her inner cruelty and her dragons burning the Lanaster armies "her people" should have made it obvious to the viewer that she did not care about "her people" but about her power. The Essos story was the fall of the last Greek (Dany) and the fall of the Roman Republic and the birth of the Roman Empire. The Westeros story was the Wars of the Roses and the end of the medieval and beginning of the Modern Era. The "wall" was Lord of the Rings, the end of the age of magic and the beginning of the age of man. Seasons 7 and 8 are where the showrunners left the storylines to end the show quicker which destroyed GOT.
@@mikeburke7053 Thank you for your thorough explanation. It is greatly appreciated but also leaves me a little concerned as to how much you have invested into GOT. ;)
@@cotteeskid I did become overly "concerned". But not for the reasons most people were. I concluded that seasons 1-4 were the best literature to film ever done. Not for the reasons other people did. A Song of Ice and Fire (the books) were a complete retelling of Western Civilization through the eyes of the losers and villains. My favorite character in literature is now Arya Stark. As I watched the show, then read the books, I began to see history and literature retold. I believe I can see the forest while most critics only see the trees. I see Moby Dick, Lord of the Flies, Frankenstein, Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh, Little Red Riding Hood, Midsummer Nights Dream all being retold. I see Spartacus, Athens falling into tyranny, etc. etc in the "Essos" or Antiquity story. I see the Borjias, Knight Templar, Papal Elections, etc. etc. in the Medieval. I can tell you how every Stark is a York (except Arya, which bugged the hell out of me), how the great houses matched England's, etc. But what took the cake for me was when I figured out the "Hound" it lead me to figuring out Arya. The Hound is the great Irish mythological hero, Cuchulain, The Hound of Ulster. When Arya is with the Hound, she is The Morrigan, The Irish Goddess of Death. When Jaqen (In the books, the Kindly Old Man) blinds Arya, it is the retelling of Odysseus vs. the Cyclops. And then I started to see Arya!!!! Arya = Cain, Waif = Abel Arya = Big Bad Wolf, Red woman (in books woods witch) is little red riding hood. Arya = Atreus, Lord Frey = Thyestes Lady Crain Affair = Puk from Midsummer Nights Dream etc. In This "Song" of Ice and Fire, Arya is the aria. A strong solo in an opera outside of the main story line. While Sansa is the "key" the song is sung in and the stanza (Sansa is a name combination of Stanza and Sancha of Aragon). Sansa is Sancha when dealing with the Lancasters as Borjias, but Sansa is Elizabeth of York in the main story line. Arya is a compellation of mankind's greatest villains being retold as the hero through the eyes of an endearing young girl. Arya's end in the books is to steal the Ring of Power (Bran), because Arya/NoOne ends as the Gollum/Sméagol. Arya will sail away with Bran at the end of the books. Arya is the last Stark to become her wolf, Nymeria. She will also bring the last of her people, the surviving Others, like in Lord of the Rings where the last of the magic has to sail away. How do I know the Others (White Walkers) are Starks? Because KRASTer is a STARK and they are his 100 sons.
Most underrated show!! Every character was fantastic! I though when Alfred died it was struggle but the show just went from strength to strength. And characters like Haesten were fantastic as well not to mention how brilliant Utred was. I only wish Brida had survived but was still an excellent scene. Cant wait for the feature film!
There will not ever be a series like this. The acting was spectacular and the story and scenes of war are spectacular. I’m addicted. I’ve see it five times and will spit five more times
Totally enjoyed the series. Very consistent high standard. Great cast from start tot finish. Loved the ending but sad it’s finished. Congratulations to all involved in this production.
I was just scrolling thru netflix looking for something to watch and i came upon this show watched a couple and got hooked on this show quick i loved this show it was awesome.
Been so excited when it was released and finish it! LOVE IT! Still remember his son quote in season 4 ep 3 and the best reason why Uhtred try hard to keep fighting "because you believed in a cause...not for God, or the gods...or for Saxons, or for Danes. But to keep safe the people that you love." Best line and best scene ever in the every season!

Whoaw I actually cried duringt this ending and I never cry for a tv-show, a movie perhaps but not a show. I must also say after all this time I've always thought that Wessex was the "last kingdom" now I know it was Northumbria. Such a powerful endning and story and now it finally ends. What an adventure it was everyone! Vikings believed that you are responsible for your own destiny. While christians believe that you put everything into god’s hand and he will deliver. This is what seperates the two faiths, and its quite interesting because I believe in both ways.
I loved this show. It was an incredible follow-up in quality for living in the shadow of the show Vikings. IMO Utred isn't as interesting as Ragnar, but still a great character. I'd rather watch TLK over The Witcher lol
@@Bmega81 I liked Vikings because it wasn't historically accurate, they basically took all the A-Lister famous Vikings (which most were alive hundreds of years apart) and threw them into an avengers style Viking epic. I do enjoy and usually prefer historically accurate cinema, but at the same time.. all I really want is to be entertained. But yeah, I agree with you. Did get ridiculous with the magic, supernatural shenanigans & whatnot lol
@@michaelkean5969 yeah maybe you're right... but maybe it comes down to the actors portraying them. I didn't find the utreds acting as compelling, even if on paper he was a more interesting character. Guess really it just comes down to opinion 🤙
Edward really nailed having the mannerisms as his father Alfred, especially his unpredictable nature and ability to do something brilliant or foolish just as easily.
@@wh5027 That's exactly what I see, and I fear not everyone thinks the same when reading the comments about the show (until now). Normally, people praise Alfred as being a super genius and Edward as a complete fool, but I think otherwise. I see much more similarities than differences between them. As you put, they are unpredictable characters, capable of making brilliant choices or blatant mistakes, but always with some reason (well, perhaps with the exception being that atrocious illogical charge attack Edward does in season 4, against the walls of winchester).
The absolute best show I had the pleasure of watching, from start to finish. Uhtred's journey had everything, and it couldn't have concluded more beautifully with him finally getting recognized as Lord of Bebbanburg. And at the end when he was looking back on all the hardships he endured and all the companions that had been with him along the way, I couldn't help but tear up especially at the part where he was at his lowest in Season 2. He lost much and gave much but there was no possible ending to this other than restoring his birthright, and it was glorious.
The last kingdom was a phenomenal show. It had me in tears all the way to the end. It was well written and brought to life. Sad that it has ended. Great actors and actresses. Well played. Based on some names of historical significance. Utred son of utred. Destiny is all!
This is what you get when the author of a beloved character like Uthred is involved in all aspects of bringing his books to screen. Bernard Cornwall also was on set for the Sharp series too and it shows. He’s a genius!! Uthred is one of the best fictional characters in historical novels including Br. Cadfael!!!
The Last kingdom is the reason why I still keep my Netflix sub. I have watch the entire seasons 1-4 up to 6 times and I am glad that I just finished season 5. Best tv show ever
I've seen maybe 3 dramatic tv shows where I felt like they were giving me everything I wanted to see, I think it's this show, Rome, Spartacus, it's a great show, I'm not a big fan of this season but they damn sure stuck the landing, Vikings got a little shaking towards the end but nailed the landing as well
@@purplespark8 Rome is on HBO but if you don't have it there's also a show on Netflix called Roman Empire that I recommend, it's a docu-drama that covers 3 different eras
Last Kingdom has been incredible!! I've watched it multiple times and would rate it in line with Game of Thrones as one of the best shows I've ever seen. Considering the much smaller budget it's in a league of it's own honestly! Sad to see it end, And I felt this season rushed things a little, But I understand they had alot to finish. This was one of the best series I have watched in a very long time!! I cried when I heard it was the last season, but I am happy to know there is a movie coming. I have not read the books, but I love the true history told with a fictional character. This series had my heart from season 1, episode 1.
Uhtred had 3 children. 2 boys and 1 girl. His wife was died on the birth of their 3rd kid. It’s a boy. He was alive, and had been taking care by sister Hild. It’s in season 3 or 4.
This finale brought me to tears!!!! The first TV series in HISTORY to not have ONE thing to complain about whatsoever. I LOVED the finale. Everything was wrapped up so nicely, all the characters, the entire storyline from beginning to end was done beautifully and so in sync. The last episode was AMAZING. Whoever produced/directed this series, should do a spinoff on King Aethlstan and unity of England. I was in tears knowing it was the last episode of the series.
Man i just finished season 5 and the entire *EPIC!!* The final scene with Uhtred looking out of Bebbanberg had him look back on his life and the journey it took to get there. All the people he lost namely his wife Gisela, Lady Aethelfled, Brida & Father Beocca. I became so emotional- am a man and i bawled like a baby for 10 minutes. For i see mself in Uhtred.
As recent series finals can go.. this one was actually pretty good! For each of the main characters the ending made sense with no crazy surprises, even for characters that died…I guess it’s easier to do when the overall storylines is based in historical facts. Looking forward to the movie!
Last Kingdom is simply a Great series. The fact that it evokes both love and hatred in the characters is because it is so well written, acted and produced. Richard Dawson's portrayal of King Alfred in S3 E8 & 9 was . . . . . . BRILLIANT! Cheers to all involved!!! Destiny is All ! 🗡🗡🗡
Very well made. You covered all topics including the son Utrid never knew he had. Thanks for the video. A truly satisfying finaly after a long time any major show has had. So good to see Utrid claiming his fort. I only realize the importance of cousin's killing after watching your video. If he hadn't done so his title would have been contested.
This show gradually went up my list of best shows Or even movies 🍿 I’ve experienced in my life. This is the most complete tv show, it has overachieved itself by miles for it's purpose. wow!
Heck season 3 the dialogue between king Alfred and Uhtred is such a great scene and superb acting that is academy award level
100% correct. I am just disappointed there isn't another two seasons. The Last Kingdom movie is going to try and condense three books in two hours. That won't come close to do it the justice the last three books. It will likely still be a great movie, but the amount of story cut will be disappointing.

Yes! I'm glad someone said it!
I think his haircut is how they attempt to show aging
What a stupid idea
Indeed! Aelswith, Alfred's widow, is a grandmother by about season 3 or 4 yet all they did to age her was put some grey into her hair. Incidently, Eliza Butterworth who does a great job portraying her is only 28!
He's probably in early 40s. They had kids early in those days

The honour, the courage, the kindred spirit, the patriotism, the pain, the history- all woven tightly together in what is a magnificent show. It's grandiose but intimate.

They were in the books.
In the books they were actually lovers, maybe that’s why
In the book Uhtred says they were lovers but not in move. They clearly loved and looked out for one another.
In love
@@mikeburke7053 Very well put.
Arya = Cain, Waif = Abel
Arya = Big Bad Wolf, Red woman (in books woods witch) is little red riding hood.
Arya = Atreus, Lord Frey = Thyestes
Lady Crain Affair = Puk from Midsummer Nights Dream
etc.
Thank you for loving my

How long have you been a
great fan and which series is your favorite?
this show is like my meditation. The backdrop, colors, characters and dialogue are so relaxing
Totally enjoyed the series. Very consistent high standard. Great cast from start tot finish. Loved the ending but sad it’s finished. Congratulations to all involved in this production.
Love from germany. This is absolutely the best explanation about the Story. Die beste Serie !!!!
I had to come here to see what others thought of the show. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought it was incredible.
I was just scrolling thru netflix looking for something to watch and i came upon this show watched a couple and got hooked on this show quick i loved this show it was awesome.

How long have you been a
great fan and which of the series is your favorite
This show is criminally underrated. It did a terrific job giving so many of these characters great story arcs.
I felt like crying too...Destiny is all!
This was absolutely my favorite series of the year! Uhtred is the quintessential warrior and friend!
I hope in the movie he is able to find love!❤️
Thanks for the love and supports you showered on me, it's been a wonderful year having fans like solidly behind me, this is my way of saying thank you to the people who brought me this far. I hope you never stop watching my movies
thanks 🌹

Grèetings, and it's your favorite series as a fan of mine?
Whoaw I actually cried duringt this ending and I never cry for a tv-show, a movie perhaps but not a show. I must also say after all this time I've always thought that Wessex was the "last kingdom" now I know it was Northumbria. Such a powerful endning and story and now it finally ends. What an adventure it was everyone! Vikings believed that you are responsible for your own destiny. While christians believe that you put everything into god’s hand and he will deliver. This is what seperates the two faiths, and its quite interesting because I believe in both ways.
Great show. Uthred the best actor I have seen in a long time. I hope to see him in more shows. He deserves an Oscar.
Thank you for loving my
aspirations❤️………..

I loved this show. It was an incredible follow-up in quality for living in the shadow of the show Vikings. IMO Utred isn't as interesting as Ragnar, but still a great character. I'd rather watch TLK over The Witcher lol
I'd take tlk over Vikings easily. Both of them. Lol Vikings can be ridiculous at points. Historically and otherwise. Lol
Did get ridiculous with the magic, supernatural shenanigans & whatnot lol
personally i think it's the other way round for me. Uhtred is far more interesting than Ragnar.
@@michaelkean5969 yeah maybe you're right... but maybe it comes down to the actors portraying them. I didn't find the utreds acting as compelling, even if on paper he was a more interesting character. Guess really it just comes down to opinion 🤙
@@DARTHNEWS I liked Ragnar's acting much better than Uhtred's.
I'm still not over Beocca's sacrifice.
It was good & fast paced but I was most impressed by Edward's character growth, Brida & Uhtred fight scene 💔😭
Edward really nailed having the mannerisms as his father Alfred, especially his unpredictable nature and ability to do something brilliant or foolish just as easily.
That fight scene got me too. I only ever cried twice - then and when Halig died.
The very end with Utred
Needs no explanation
Those feelings can't come from acting
Will miss everything he misses
Such a great series. I binged all 5 seasons over 4 days. Stayed up way later than I should have. Got very little sleep but so worth it.
Uthred's reminiscence gives goosebumps & flashback of memories which synced with the ending perfectly. More seasons should be made.
Yeah there should be 1 more season, not a movie but what can we do
It's the best Viking show I've ever watched and of course Utred is beautiful to watch
The last kingdom was a phenomenal show. It had me in tears all the way to the end. It was well written and brought to life. Sad that it has ended. Great actors and actresses. Well played. Based on some names of historical significance. Utred son of utred. Destiny is all!
Brilliant programme, brilliant actors.❤️🇬🇧
This is what you get when the author of a beloved character like Uthred is involved in all aspects of bringing his books to screen. Bernard Cornwall also was on set for the Sharp series too and it shows. He’s a genius!! Uthred is one of the best fictional characters in historical novels including Br. Cadfael!!!
Grèetings, and it's your favorite series as a fan of mine?
The Last kingdom is the reason why I still keep my Netflix sub. I have watch the entire seasons 1-4 up to 6 times and I am glad that I just finished season 5. Best tv show ever
Wow. 6 times!
I've seen maybe 3 dramatic tv shows where I felt like they were giving me everything I wanted to see, I think it's this show, Rome, Spartacus, it's a great show, I'm not a big fan of this season but they damn sure stuck the landing, Vikings got a little shaking towards the end but nailed the landing as well
@@wheelmanstan Yeah. Haven't watched Rome, but Spartacus was great throughout as well
@@purplespark8 Rome is on HBO but if you don't have it there's also a show on Netflix called Roman Empire that I recommend, it's a docu-drama that covers 3 different eras
I wish they'd extended the season a few extra episodes at least.
Thanks for the love and supports you showered on me, it's been a wonderful year having fans like solidly behind me, this is my way of saying thank you to the people who brought me this far. I hope you never stop watching my movies

Never one for series, but this got me hooked. Great story of all the beauty of humanity -loyalty, forgiveness, perseverance and undying love. Now waiting for “ the 7 kings must die”
I legit felt Athelhelm's pain when his daughter died. I found myself uttering the exact same noises even though he was clearly the bad guy here. Great writing. Great acting!
SPOILER ALERT
If you pay attention, he never shed a tear for her daughter, ever.
I wish it was finan that had killed him though. I’m so upset over Osferths death I think they could have just left him to be badly injured but not killed and him not join the last battle.
@@MonkStarling the video is one big spoiler.
@@MonkStarling he literally kills himself in shame what do you mean? Lol He was gonna kill himself earlier in the season when he found out. His reaction to the news was pretty on brand and definitely messed him up and he really wasnt the same after, just my opinion 🤷🏾♂️
@@hez859 100% agree he was never the same after the news but seriously no tears shed
He killed himself in shame of his grandson knowing, not in shame of having orchestrated his daughter's murder
This became my favorite show of all time. Truly enjoyed it all!
This was one of the best series I have watched in a very long time!! I cried when I heard it was the last season, but I am happy to know there is a movie coming. I have not read the books, but I love the true history told with a fictional character. This series had my heart from season 1, episode 1.
One of the best shows I've watched, solid storylines, solid characters and an ending that made sense. Sooooo satisfying.
Thank you for the correction about Hild and Uhtred.
This show was not only inspired by history, It also made history as one of the if not, the Greatest Show ever!
Uhtred had 3 children. 2 boys and 1 girl. His wife was died on the birth of their 3rd kid. It’s a boy. He was alive, and had been taking care by sister Hild. It’s in season 3 or 4.
Thats what i was looking for
He also had a boy by his first wife the one that died when they helped the kings son from being sick ..so really 4 children 3 boys and 1 girl
In one of the last scenes that’s who Hilde is bringing across the sands.
A boy born to Mildred his first wife. He died as a baby, Uthred was crushed
Excellent Summary - Last Kingdom has been one of my MOST favourite Series to binge over the last...Well couple of years I suppose!
Hild isn't Uhtred former lover. They love each other but they never made love that I can remember.
Well said. Solid from start to end. So rare. Well done to those involved with last kingdom. Classic.
I really loved this ,bring it back
I'm just mad it's over. I go through 10 episodes like it was nothing. Can't wait for the movie.
Man i just finished season 5 and the entire *EPIC!!*
The final scene with Uhtred looking out of Bebbanberg had him look back on his life and the journey it took to get there. All the people he lost namely his wife Gisela, Lady Aethelfled, Brida & Father Beocca. I became so emotional- am a man and i bawled like a baby for 10 minutes. For i see mself in Uhtred.
I love this series. looking forward to the movie to wrap things up.
I hope it wraps it up nicely and not rushed because this series is such a masterpiece
I loved how Haesten's arc ended. I just wish he had a weapon in his hand so he could enter Valhalla.
Uthred said because he died protecting the plan and didn’t sell them out it was an honourable death and he’ll be welcomed in Valhalla.
Dayumn I felt sad 😢 cuz he wanted to save her but he became a sacrifice
I have watched this series since 2017, and more than once.
This show gradually went up my list of best shows Or even movies 🍿 I’ve experienced in my life. It only gets better each season and TBUS last season was just so damn satisfying and last ep was a 9.8/10. I hope the movies are like part one Thru three like the books if that works at all 😂 amazing story and development of characters
I couldn't stop watching the series. I hadn't been that attached to a series in a long time. I'm going to watch it again.
