watching this in 2023 and wow what a great set. I wish Dave would transition back into this type of performance before it's all said and done. That insanely squiggly trip hop type of sound. I miss the origins.
I was at this set, Shambhala 2015 was a great year. It was my first time seeing Tipper with visuals. I had only ever seen him once before at Hempfest, he did a pure audio Tip Hop scratch set. I was so glad my friend literally grabbed me and dragged me away from The Village stage to see this set lol. Tipper's set was so much better than Zed's Dead. This same year had Dirtybird Takeover at Pagoda Stage and DJ Jazzy Jeff at Fractal Forest, what a year,
I just saw a ripper show at Okechobee. Keep in mind I had never even listened to the dude.... best show of my life hands down. This guys is fucking insane.
I was at this set in the video, my friend dragged me from The Village to The Grove after they revealed the secret headliner as Zeds Dead. He said "Man fuck Zeds Dead, come check this out." I'll forever love him for exposing me to this. Been a Tipper fan ever since.
can't wait for tipper and friends this set is fire!! is this on a galaxy note ? just curious? great quality ! and i totally don't blame you for the sideways recording at the end. I always feel kinda sideways after a tipper set lol
Hi guys I know you are gonna eat me but I was on the show Tipper and friends and I didnt know what they are gonna play. I was having awesome time . I am more about psy trance and dubstep. But anyway what kind of music style it is?? Thanks for answ
Glad you're into it man! Tipper honestly has a variety of genres. His uptempo stuff (this video) is pretty glitch hop/trip hop-y. You should check out some of his other sets - downtempo, twilight, journey, ambient... They all have something pretty special to offer
Mike Reyes I shit my pants I was tripping so hard but no one noticed so I stayed and it dropped out of my jeans and someone thought I dropped a weed brownie and ate it right in front of me. True story.
Mike Reyes I feel bad for the people that came just for him and couldn't even make it in to see him. it was so packed. but that's the plus of being solo.
if somebody is that unaware that they pick up and eat poop off the dirt because it might be a brownie deserves what they got. Thats survival of the fittest at its finest
Was at this set and I still gotta say.....not down for Android Jones's performance. Like it's pretty, but way to symmetrical and gets really predictable. I danced my face off during the entire set, most fun I've ever had.
I'm sorry, but i have to ask this question: How much of Tipper's sets are his own original music? I have long been under the impression that (at least in recent years) they have been 100% original Tipper, but i was watching some clips from the NYC TipHop show and noticed he threw in a track by Luke Vibert and B.J. Cole, and one by Liquid Stranger. I know it was a special set that warranted tasty jams, but up until then i've been under the impression that every song i was unfamiliar with must just be unreleased Tipper. Is it true that some of these unfamiliar tracks are other artists??? This was actually a tough thing to digest and i even had a dream about it, so i felt i needed to get it out there and seek answers. Much love to Dave, i'm lookin forward to all the goodness this season!
+Mattchu Picchu in a tip hop set he always plays other artists tracks.. the original material is over a decade old, and the production methods and signal very different to now. if he likes a track here or there by someone else he's not afraid to throw it in his other sets - its just less of a happenstance, hence the notion he only plays his own music :)
Android Jones visuals are S o boring. Too symmetrical. Just comes off as lazy. Since the music is as bad as it is you'd they would step it up in the visual department but I guess modern electronic shows are OK with being simply mediocre...
What?! Don't know if you've ever seen a Tipper set live, but that man is very talented and at the forefront of pioneering his own style of electronic music. He's in a class of his own, some of the most entertaining electronic music in my opinion. Of course it does go right over the heads of many people, which is why he doesn't have a huge following. But I agree with that about Android Jones' live visuals, Jonathan Singer's work is much deeper, and fits his music way better.
Whatsth3ruckus I've been listening to electronic since the era of Aphex Twin's first albums. It's not that it goes over my head it's that it sounds/feels like he's going for something but never quite hitting the mark. It often feels/sounds like there's a part missing from his tracks. It just makes it hard to listen too when it sounds "unfinished". I'd love to see him as a sound producer in films, he'd be amazing at that, but composition wise he takes it to like 80 percent and seems to not know how to finish it.
I agree though about Singer's visuals being more fitting. I think the best visual setup they had was back in like 2014 (look at the fillmore vids) with android jones doing the giant projection mapped octopus stage thing and singer doing the two side screen visuals. That was fucking NUTS
Bernard Kalz while tipper's uptempo shit tends to be too far on the crazy side for me. his downtempo tracks are some of the best electronic music ever composed.

No clue dude, lot of unreleased tracks in this.

Awesome. That was my suspicion, but its good to hear it from a solid source. Thanks for taking the time to answer!
He remade Noisia's Divide & Conquer, premiered in NOLA, which was new, hope to see more of that
Is 44:00 still unreleased? Fucking madness.
Sadly yes. Such a banger
Track id at 15:00

I guess I can see where you're coming from, fair enough.
Get high and listen to his album broken soul jamboree with headphones. Or see him live.

Shitty music thats pretentious cool at best, sick animation/art.
Bernard Kalz while tipper's uptempo shit tends to be too far on the crazy side for me. his downtempo tracks are some of the best electronic music ever composed.
Don't hate what you can't understand. Sad that someone so close minded found a tipper set.. Definitely not for you.
