At the start of the show, it mentioned about the linking of genotoxic carcinogens to biscuits. Unsurprisingly, this whole show turned out to be focusing on sugar content instead (which was already talked about numerous times in past episodes). It would be more interesting and meaningful if this show digs deeper into the scientific connection between biscuits and genotoxic carcinogens during the manufacturing process. This is the controversial part where most people don't know and should know more about it. Maybe I expected too much from CNA.
More often than not, the truth is inconvenient to pursue further. It implicates too many parties of the supply chain. The dark side of food manufacturers.
it was mentioned at the very beginning right? There's no evidence that the two genotoxic carcinogens can cause harm in humans as long as the biscuits are consumed in moderate amounts
any amount of hydrogenation basically tampers with and "screws" up the oil. The worst part of this program is that we are unfortunately still thinking starches are fine but sugar is not, when they are basically EXACTLY the same when they go into our bodies. Sugar causes immediate blood sugar rise (bad), starches causes higher glycemic loading, which causes extended blood sugar rise if one thinks it is find because it is "lower GI".
7:29 ... Kids dont regualte self control when eating sugar filled foods ... CORRECT ! BUT - Kids do not go grocery shopping - kids only choose to eat from - what YOU choose to bring home ... NOT the kids' fault they eat sugar ; it is YOUR fault as a parent - that SUGAR filled snacks is the only choice in the house for the kids to choose from .

To simplify reading of the nutrition tables, I often just go to using the per 100 ml or 100g column, then look at what I think are sugars and add them up. Sometimes the sugars you know seem low in that table, if so, look at the total carbohydrate line and assume all carbohydrates are sugars instead. A secondary check is reading the list of ingredients which they have to list in descending order of weight age - if the top three look like sugars, we'll you get the point
7:34 .. ."kids buying sugar filled biscuits " ... How many "kids" do you know of - that can afford $7 for a 4 pack of cookies ... versus ... getting FREE cookies at home. ( kids getting fat - needs to be looked at a bit closer - as it is not the kids' fault - you choose to bring home sugar filled foods )
7:38 .. how is it "targeted at children ? ...when the adults have the money ? ... If a kid picks up a sugar filled biscuit - why can't the ADULT just put it back !?
7:34 ... " cookies marketed for kids 4 - 6 " ... HOW many kids at age 6 - have enough money to buy these cookies ? ... or are the kids eating sugar filled cookies the fault of the parents for ( decisions an ADULT made - by bringing sugar filled foods home from the store )
Actually it is an interesting question. There are two types of ice cream in the supermarket, one called ‘ice confection’ which is made up of palm oil and milk powder and the other is the true ice cream that is made from milk and cream. The prior one is understandably cheaper and way more unhealthy as compared to the latter one. If you find 1L of ice cream under 6 dollars, they are almost always the prior one.
What about homemade cookies only consist of salted butter, flour and sugar? I usually reduce 50% sugar. Save to have this cookies with kopi o kosong everyday? 😊
in the US .. " Digestives " name is against the law to use - FALSE ADVERTISING. It falsley portrays that a certain biscuit helps with digestion - which is FALSE as a digestive does not help more than any other grain based biscuit.
As Biscuits lovers, this documentary makes me wanna bang my head harder! Yeah..I have to admit that it was midly infuriating! But hey! At least, I should thanked you for helping me to taking care of my health Yeah I know, eating them too much can be damages my wellbeing I used to eating Biscuits twice a week I'm having them with my coffee and tea Well..I think, I should be able to avoid them And eat them moderately Thank you for helping us, Talking Point!
Lol... what a hilarious atttack on big bad bikkies! A bit too serious... but interesting! A story about poor people starving would be better - and how to stop it.
I agree with you. The moment I started to attempt to make homemade cakes and biscuits, oh my it was an eye opening experience on the crazy amount of sugars , butters etc.
why don't u mention butter or vegetable plants used? fat is also?a?killer. for cookies and biscuits to be crunchy, they need to put a lot of oil and fat. regardless of adding flaxseed chiaseed👎
"Adults CAN exercise self-control"
Not so sure about that 🤣
I can eat a whole pack of digestives in one day easily. I can and I will...
Look at you having self control. I munch a whole pack in one sitting knowing DM well I'll get acid reflux.

It’s so cute how the lil girl snitched on her mom. Lol. Don’t lie around kids!
A treat is 1-2 times a week, and 2-3 pieces each time...
Definitely very realistic!
That man who said sugary biscuit is very nourishing should get full real education about nutrition.
nourishing for the soul
Next: "What's in my canned food?" please!

Put it the simple way, we can eat whatever we like, but moderately. It's the self control that many people fail to accomplish, not a easy task.
Thanks for d information. The problem is with the false label...and The lesser the ingredients (sugar..etc.) but it cost much.

More like once or twice every minute.
Tea biscuits ❤❤❤
The part about wheat flour having bran and germ removed, leaving only the endosperm behind, is confusing.
the reduced sugar Oreo biscuits and the originals had virtually the same amount of total carbs, 20.2 g v. 20.3 g. what a scam.

Another great presentation!
HOW ABOUT PROHIBIT TO SELL
Adults can't exercise self-control.
Lol, sugar alone can increase the risk of cancer.
Great video on nutrition. Most "biscuits" are full of sugar... Make them from scratch and you'll know what goes in it. Same goes with cakes.
