    You finally got me to do it. My buddy, *ORION* Night Hunter of the Stars, loves Weed (what the non-feline members of our family call Catnip). For years his favorite toy has been his Weed Mousie, a cat bong which one stuffs with Weed. The trouble is that the velcro enclosure hasn't worked for years, resulting in a very short-lived trip. Before, he would wrestle for a long time trying to eviscerate the mousie with his feet, lying on his back while holding it firmly with his hands. His joyous antics were shared by the whole family! But when the velcro died, the weed which I stuff into the bong quickly spilled all over the floor; too fast.
    Thanks to your gracious educational video, I grabbed the Lice Comb (left over from my kids' kindergarten days) and got to work. Results are fantastic. Super adherence. Like new!
    Susan, you are an exceptionally caring member of our species who took the time and effort to conduct a public test for the benefit of us all. Thank you.

    Thanks for your video. I also watched another video and had a great idea that really works. If you have a dog and use a Furminator for grooming, brush the velcro down with the Furminator and then lay the tape on the velcro and press. Pull up and all the lint is removed.

    Take another "Hook" side and run it through the clogged up side. There are very fine grits and stiffer grits.. I use a piece of the stiffer grit...it digs down in and It'll snag most of the lint and hair fibers. Then put your duct tape down and rub ut in with the rounded cap end of a stick pen. This presses the sticky tack in to grab loose fibers. You may need to wash, rinse...repeat to get it all. There is a tool too that I've seen called a "File Card" it is a very fine wire comb...if you will, it is used to clean clogged up material out of fine files in tool shop. This will get down into the loop fabric and start pulling fine hairs embedded in your velcro.

    I am 2 years too late to this video but at least it was helpful. I still tried the duct tape approach except I used to sticky side to scrape the velcro clean. And, it worked. :)

    I have to give you credit for showing the method tht DIDNT work. Many times I have tried different "fixes" and it doesnt work, but you were honest. I am going to try getting the "fuzz" off of the fuzzyend. Thats always where it gets clogged up for me. Thank you for your video.

    Stiff/ Boar bristle brushes work as well! My dachshund’s winter coat has Velcro fasteners which need “de-fuzzing” every few weeks from her forays into the underbrush and nettles! After re-sewing new Velcro tabs once, I realized I may need to find another way to “de-funk the gunk”, that would save on both time and money. I tried everything from duck tape, tweezers, electric lint removers (DON’T attempt! Will ruin integrity of Velcro and kill the machine!), combs (unfortunately I was too “heavy-handed”, lifting many of micro-hooks with the fuzz, which had a deleterious effect on the Velcro), and finally landing success with hard fiber brushes and gentle pressure!

    I've found that taking the "duct" (gaffer) tape and rubbing it along the Velcro in one direction is the fastest and easiest way. Same thing as the lint roller which is just this but with better adhesive. 99Better than combs, and don't get me started on wire brushes. I cleaned a piece of Velcro 25cm long × 4cm wide in about 5 minutes with duct tape. It was so thick with debris that you couldn't see the Velcro.

    I found a stiff bristle brush to loosen together with a shop vac with the nozzle gently scraping the velcro does a pretty decent job.

    Try the Duct Tape after the Comb.

  • @garivera15
    @garivera15 5 лет назад +2

    Its possible that you were pulling against the grain of the velcro. Maybe if you would have pulled from the opposite direction the duct tape would have worked. Just a thought. I saw another video where the guy used a wood-file brush and that meathod was a bell-ringing winner in my book. The lint cleaned out lickkety-split.

    Tweezers work. I've done it a hundred times. If you do it regularly it doesn't get out of hand. I do it once a month.

    Why can't you just use a flame and burn it off? Maybe once you comb it off to the surface you can use duct tape to full it off.
