Overtaking in Macau is something else! IMHO, he and Lewis are by far the best thing to happen to F1 in a generation. Talking of overtaking on street circuits, you might want to look at Billy Monger's win in Pau. In the wet. From the back of the grid. Without legs.
Mercedes fan here. This year's season is a banger I hope max gets the win he earned it. Love watching Lewis struggle also bought time some competition entered the field
Regardless of if he gets the championship this year, he has given us one of the best seasons to watch. Him and lewis battling it out has been fantastic
Max reminds me of Schumacher he has the same mental focus and moves on from a setback immediately I really believe he's heading towards real greatness 🙌
3rd in his first proper championship in open wheel racing despite 8 retirements, one DNS, and Ocon and Blomqvist (67 and 9 points ahead respectively) only having 3 retirements each. Kind of insane.
I have seen a lot of the current drivers race the F3 round at Spa and from them all (Leclerc, Norris, Stroll, …) was Max the one that really stuck. I also saw him do some karting back in the day (at Genk) and he was one of a kind. You see talent like that just once every few decades. Fan or not, you got to respect his talent.
Max has been fighting for and mostly won championships from the moment he stepped into a kart. That's all he knows. That's why he doesn't feel any additional pressure fighting Lewis this year. He's just doing what he's always done.
Whenever I saw Lewis or max drive in the years before, I have always thought these guys were something special. These 2 vids you made on them confirms this. Both have been abnormally talented in their junior careers and truly deserve to be labelled as 'superdrivers' even amongst the F1 grid. And the next ones to follow are Leclerc and Russel, similarly winning everything in their junior careers (if I'm not wrong lol). We are really witnessing something legendary for the sport this year but the best showing for the future imo has been Leclerc and verstappen battling on silverstone in '19. Brace yourselves guys, if the machinery is equal between the three big teams next year, prepare to see some mad action on track.
It's a remarkable story. Verstappen was just very fast in any car he drove. Right off the bat, he was competitive in F3. No wonder Toro Rosso signed him. Now he's the best driver in F1, even if he doesn't win the title, he showed more than Hamilton so far.
People want to diminish him because he doesn't say what you want to hear. He is who he is, not what your image of him is. He isn't going to bow down to other drivers just because they have been there longer or have a longer list of accolades, he is going to drive to the best of his abilities and let the chips fall as they may. When he says winning the F1 WDC won't change his life, people lost their minds, but I believe him. He is confident in who he is and doesn't need validation like people demand he should.
Even *if* Max’s junior career wasn’t great the fact that he was a full time F1 driver a good 2-3 years before most other young talents are should really speak for itself

Also we had another Dutch driver, which could have been a big one (going far in his carreer) and that was Paul Meijer , dominated the Formula Renault here (dominated Renger Van der Zande, Giedovan der Garde and Yelmer Buurman for example j , shame he didnt had any budget to go further.. , made a comeback for a fer races in Super League formula in 2009, and was instantly quick )
Thanks for being a voice of reason Josh, another fantastic and balanced video. I really wish the negativity and hatred expressed by some "fans" against their driver's rival, be that Lewis or Max, could be more objective and respectful. Two phenomenal drivers at the top of their game, we're genuinely experiencing history for our sport, but it's being drowned out by a tirade of ill informed abuse from the partizan supporters of both sides.
Martin Brundle once said about Senna, who was his teammate.. 'when you race him, his driving let's you decide if you will let the accident, that is about to happen, happen..' Max does the same. Only the greatest drive with that charisma, everybody knows.. It's never been said about any other driver. It's not about age, comparing races, cars, achievements, eras, teams.. It's about being unique in your craft, breathing it, not learning it. Senna had it, Max has it.

F1 badly needs more people who just cut through all the BS and speak their mind. He's not immature. He's not the impudent child people think he is. He's a very talented racing driver, and we really should appreciate that more. Drivers such as Ronnie Peterson or Ayrton Senna remind us of how sometimes we don't know what we've got until it's gone. I'm not saying Verstappen is going to get killed, but please people! Just enjoy this talent while you can, he is a special driver and to hate on him is missing the point of being an F1 fan entirely.
Well said, I'm not a F1 fan myself but I always knew and got the impression that F1 fans are fan of every driver and support them all with of course favoring one of them.
(And I've heard there were some a-holes.. but everyone thought the same about them too haha)
@@VocalNL Thanks mate. I think you're right, proper F1 fans appreciate all good drivers, while perhaps cheering for one or two. Personally I think if you hate on any driver you simply aren't a proper F1 fan.
His junior career was awesome and Max has been in amazing form this year. If Max wins the title, it could be a changing of the guard.
Lewis, Kimi, Seb, Fernando… now we have Max, Charles, Lando and George. The new blood are here
I don't think max will be able to replicate what Michael and Lewis have achieved .. the talent pool is to good ..and tbh no one wants to watch anyone win that many championships in a row again ..shit gets old ..new champ most years would be a welcome site
@@hunterbailey3071 i think max could get 3 or 4 championships
@@hunterbailey3071 yeah i agree, Max, Charles, Lando and George are to good to not let one another dominate the sport, also nowadays F1 are pushing to the make the car more raceable so there is hard to see another schumi-lewis domination like in the upcoming years
@@hunterbailey3071 thats what people said after michael...
Fun fact: Max Verstappen has as many feeder series titles as Nicholas Latifi; zero.
and Latifi raced more years in F2 than Max raced in Formula series that are not F1
Bro he won everything in karting and kinda jumped from kart into f1. 😆
I was gonna say. How can Josh make a vid about his youth Career when he hasn't won a feeder series. I DO NOT WANT TO SEND HATE TO JOSH OR MAX. OK 😉
@@NDakovic He had a season on F3 and didn't win the title.
@@_qwe_fk_1700 I know; it was a joke. It reigns true, but like those calculations that people have about Mazepin being better than Lewis Hamilton, I pulled the same bullshít typing that comment. I wasn't being serious.
His first race at Spa was when I first saw him. I told my husband that I'd just seen a future F1 champion.
He had a lot of breakdowns in that season, and he shrugged them off. A very mature attitude. Overtaking in Macau is something else! IMHO, he and Lewis are by far the best thing to happen to F1 in a generation.
Talking of overtaking on street circuits, you might want to look at Billy Monger's win in Pau. In the wet. From the back of the grid. Without legs.
Plus he started pretty weak that season and them BAM he won in fantastic style
Mercedes fan here. This year's season is a banger I hope max gets the win he earned it. Love watching Lewis struggle also bought time some competition entered the field
Regardless of if he gets the championship this year, he has given us one of the best seasons to watch. Him and lewis battling it out has been fantastic
The Sean Galael part will never get old 😭
Max reminds me of Schumacher he has the same mental focus and moves on from a setback immediately I really believe he's heading towards real greatness 🙌
Guy’s F3 career was really like: pole, car breaks down, pole, win, pole, win, car breaks down, podium, pole, win. What a legend.
There's a crash in the middle i think, but yes
I love how you've done the 'origin stories' for both Max and Lewis now - really upping the tension for the title fight this year!
Yeah, Leclerc is something magic. That F2 drive in Bahrain is still one of the most nutty things i've seen.
It's a remarkable story. Verstappen was just very fast in any car he drove. Right off the bat, he was competitive in F3. No wonder Toro Rosso signed him. Now he's the best driver in F1, even if he doesn't win the title, he showed more than Hamilton so far.
Finally a Max video! 🙌
Max the best current driver by a mile...and this comes from a Ferrari fan
Your sleeping on your boy. I personally think Charles is even better. And I'm not even a Ferrari fan XD
Leclerc is very close to the raw speed of Max. Although Max is more complete than him.
lol how did you come to this conclusion
@@GamerFlair not what I'd say. Just no
I love when I get home from work and I see that Josh has uploaded another video :D Thanks Mr Revell!
Even *if* Max’s junior career wasn’t great the fact that he was a full time F1 driver a good 2-3 years before most other young talents are should really speak for itself
Looking at Max's junior career makes me wonder if you can make a video about a driver which is very good on junior level but never made it into F1.
There'd be a long list of those.
Robin Frijns ;)
they had wrong parents or no money
Like I know people going to slam this but there is no way Max goes F1 after that F3 season if hes dad isnt who he is and had connections.
Yes he was good others have been better, but they dint have the connections and the right opertunity dint open so they never got a shot.
How abou Scott Dixon ? Could have made it in F1 , also Loeb was very close in 2009
Raycon are the rich energy of headphones
Thanks for being a voice of reason Josh, another fantastic and balanced video. I really wish the negativity and hatred expressed by some "fans" against their driver's rival, be that Lewis or Max, could be more objective and respectful. Two phenomenal drivers at the top of their game, we're genuinely experiencing history for our sport, but it's being drowned out by a tirade of ill informed abuse from the partizan supporters of both sides.
Martin Brundle once said about Senna, who was his teammate.. 'when you race him, his driving let's you decide if you will let the accident, that is about to happen, happen..'
Max does the same.
Only the greatest drive with that charisma, everybody knows..
It's never been said about any other driver.
It's not about age, comparing races, cars, achievements, eras, teams..
It's about being unique in your craft, breathing it, not learning it.
Senna had it, Max has it.
6 A.M. here in NJ been up all night because I put down one of my dogs yesterday. Josh, gotta say your F1 videos are top tier bruhhh, as a Hamilton fan this year has been fuqing epic. Best I've seen since 2012 or 07.
4:14 Latifi ahead of Verstappen. GOAT
"Max looking like Jackie Kennedy"! Hilarious; I'll never be able to unsee it!
It's amazing to see Max and Lewis fight for the championship.
Will you do a video about Sebs or Schumis junior carreer?
Or Kimi or Alonso
Not just Max's racing talent, part of what Marko saw was Max's level of maturity when they chatted. Of course anyone can be hot-headed, but in the end of the day knowing what's right and wrong, and knowing the reality of the sport is important
"this video is an educational and fun meme documentary"

Love that last shot, nice touch 👌
3:00 So you are telling me that Mini Max is a multiple times Minimax champion?
your vids are one of those you thought was gonna be longer because its all so interesting, but always leaves me yearning for more
he just won his first championship today
him winning the "Minimax" championship as a kid is hilarious
"Italian Jesus" gets me every time 🤣🤣
Thanks for today sponsor, RAYCON SHADOW LEGENDS!!!!
Well, his junior years by most standards included racing in F1 proper...so I guess the guy was good
Great video Josh!
you know what would be really fun. after the last F1 race put all F1 drivers in equal karts and let them race against each other.
That would be fun for the drivers as well, I'm sure.
he'd win 3 more MegaMax championships before the year is over
Its now 2023 after the Hungarian gp
-7 wins in a row.and still going
-Redbull broke the Mclaren consecutive win record from 1988(Senna and Prost) and still going.
-110 points in front of his team mate
-Leading the constructors championship all on his own
Hes looking invincible.
8 in a row
10 in a row. The man is beast
I know it's Josh y'all but don'"t buy raycon, cheers.
that was the best transtion into an ad that I've ever heard
I fell in love with redbull cus of him. I pray he wins 🏆 lets go super max max!!
Lol, this 11 minute video is a better/ more realistic portray of Verstappen than all seasons of Drive to Survive combined.
Smart from Red Bull.. Ferrari and Mercedes were also offering reserve and test drives for Max.. but Red Bull having Toro Rosso on the grid they offered him an actual Grand Prix seat. And a way more trust worthy future
Your videos are keeping me alive
I'm a very new f1 fan but Max's discipline on trach is commendable like spotless racing at times, combined with no trash class by rb like merc did so many times. They deserve it
It was just simply simply lovely
If there really is something people can point their fingers at, it's that because he was very young entering F1, he was a bit immature. Namely crashing everywhere without thinking about the consequences. But as of 2019 and later, Max is a much more mature driver and is a completely different driver from his old self.
Kyle, your videos are simply fantastic! Thank you bro
Hé won almost every kart championsships And in f3 hé was right on the pace in his 1st year
People tend to forget that he immediately starting winning races and podiums, even when his car was no where near the best, and that he is in the title fight of the century, people ten to forget that he is doing all of that and went straight from f3 to f1.
WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!
Again both Lewis and Max had amazing junior careers! Which what makes the 2021 title fight so amazing seeing how much level of skill they both have and being Youth Dutchman with an army behind him vs the Experience 7 time world champ... May the best man win!
He lost the 2013 World Karting Championship to a Postman
True Story... look it up.
By the way, the 2013 KZ World Championship (KZ is the gearbox category) was more of an achievement than given credit here. He was up against seasoned professionals. He wasn't really racing peers other than LeClerc who to be fair finished 2nd.
spot on... absolutly love this season and boy can max and lewis drive. they are always 40 sec ahead of the rest...pure natuel
So you want to tell me that Max skipped Formula Ford, Formula Renault etc., Formula 4 and Formula 2?? That's crazy!!
Class vid as always Josh
2 once in a Generation Talent against eachother Neck and Neck ! What a year of F1 we are having
hate to be that guy buck, lewis has literally been in the bets car/team very year expect 2104 when merc where focused on the 2015 rule changes... Great driver but honestly nothing Kimmi, Mika, Michael, Max , seb or fernando couldnt have done. 100% guarantee switch Lewis for any of those names listed and put them in the car lewis had and they would have achieved equal if not better.
@@karlash3769 i would suggest you to read your and my comment one more time.
Nowhere I say others are below Lewis. You shouldn't forget 2007-08 when comparing Lewis. He is a once in generation or few in a generation talent, there is no doubt in that. Max too is one such talent . Michael too was, Sebastian too is. Alonso is talented but made really bad choices with his timing of team shifting
@@daksh2953 the fact you think that farrari was a better car in 2018 shows your lack of knowledge.... And if Vettel was so bad or weak as a driver was was his team mate as far away from Lewis as Vettel was? Since the hybrid ear, It's been Merc as the top then everyone else. This is honestly the first season a car can actually compete with Merc and even then it's only because Merc are make tons of mistakes.
You want to blame Vettel for being a shit driver, oh and you want to talk about Aston Martin? It's a shit car is far worse than the car last year and if I'm not mistaken is Vettel not beating Strol?
Youre the best channel Ive seen with under a million subs, youll be up there soon!
124 points difference is still better then perez current 209 points with still like 5 races to go 😂
This is the equivalent of starting out as an Austrian goat farmer to THE TERMINATOR!
Only driver to have formula 1 as his junior career
1:49 Oh my god that transition was so smooth…
Why is max so good? Simple, his dad beats him evey time he gets overtaken
From what I remember about Max's junior career there were two potential outcomes to his races, either he was going to win or crash trying to do it.
Max has had one helluva career so far.
I believe that he will be one of the greatest drivers of the 2020’s.
without a doubt. Although it remains to be seen how he stacks up against George and Lando in somewhat equal machinery (we saw him vs Charles in a few races in 2019). Some amazing years to come. The future of F1 is in good hands. It wasn't looking that good 5 or so years ago if we're being honest.
@@ia303 Better way to say it is, it remains to be seen how George and Lando stack up against Max and Leclerc.
nah he won be one of the greatest drivers of 2020s, he is by far the greatest. And he is one of the greatest of all time already
4:27 that's me checking F. Abarth gearbox in Florida😅 miss those days
Putting all my hopes for Hamilton winning the title aside, Verstappen has shown incredible talent when he was a kid.
Verstappen shunting Latifi in F3 and then Latifi crashing in F1 helping Max to a world title is an insane thing to have happened 😂
