A prime example of pop record engineering, and particularly known for its off centre ‘warped piano’ effect, this track (by a group that had originally formed in Australia, but were based in the U.K. from 1969 to 1973) became a major international hit in 1971.
The single, produced by Maurice Gibb of the ‘Bee Gees’, was issued in Australia many months after debuting in other record markets, including Canada, New Zealand and the U.K.
On 17 July 1971, it was firmly ensconced at the #10 spot on the Go-Set pop newspaper’s top 60 singles chart (at the time, the only listing the compiled on an Australia wide basis).
However, a later analysis of record retail sales confirmed the disc had actually peaked nationally at #8 during a healthy chart run of 25 weeks.
    Australia release: Mid 1971.
Highest local chart position: #3 (Melbourne)

Sounds like the flubbed bass entrance at 0:25 has been covered up. Good work.

Well picked up on the error. All in all, given the quality of the original recording, it proved to be reasonably difficult to enhance certain sections on this track. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.

    Toast and marmalade for tea
    Sailing ships upon the sea
    Aren't lovelier that you
Or the games I see you play
You more lovely than the day
When the sun is in your eyes
    I see through your disguise
All the games I see you play
