Being a born and raised musician from Caldas da Rainha it's really heartwarming to see people coming from abroad and paying such great homage to the area and for my great surprise i even made it in the video, hahaha, i'm the guitar player and singer in The Silver Surfers. How cool? Thank you for this, great stuff. Cheers.
Thank you Nelson! Would love to get together and talk about the area and the music scene there. It was quite magical. It was great to hear you and the band play. Obrigado
Thank you so much! Keeping our eyes open for a place big enough to put our studio in. Pizarista is very worth it! Just ate there last night. Love that place. Thanks again!
Hello Michael, I saw one of your comments on FB. So I clicked on your name and wanted to see what you have up to and it lead me here. It’s pretty amazing that you and your family moved to Portugal. I lived in North Hollywood for 13 years and have been living in Orange County for almost 6 years now. Irvine and now Lake Forest. Would be great to catch up. I friend requested you on FB a long time ago but you never accepted. Good to see you are doing well. God Bless!
Great video! I'm even in it for a second 😅. Love everything that you found. Alcobaça is definitely an area we can further explore, lots of ceramic artists in that area, too. Don't miss the red sangria at Caravela in Foz do Arelho. São Martinho do Porto is a short train ride from Caldas da Rainha. Really enjoyed my time with you both and your little AC/DC girl! ;)
Thank you! We loved the whole area, so much to see and do, and we only got a snippet of it all. Loved getting to meet you and talk about the area. We’ll see you soon.
Nice roadtrip. Very interesting your perspective from the outside - to see and share the cultural scene in Portugal. Never knew Alcobaça like you have shown. One of the most awesome festivals (not considering the public ones) here in Porto is the Serralves em Festa - a mix of contemporary arts non-stop for 50h. But there other festivals, small art installations around the year that are also interesting to see. There are apps were can guide through the cultural agenda. And welcome to Porto.
Thank you Elder, we appreciate the kind words. So much more for us to discover here in Porto as well as the rest of Portugal concerning artists and the arts. I would love any information on the festivals as well as the apps you mentioned. Thanks again!
In the winter never ever let you daughter do this at 8:41 lots of ppl like to walk in the beach but is very danger. Portugal have lots of drownings because the ocean is very strong and dangerous in the winter. A few years ago 6 college students die in Meco beach because a wave take them out, only one manage to save himself. The triangular cities Leiria, Tomar and Caldas Rainha. Very affordable, less cold in winter and less hot in summer, very good life quality even for kids. Caldas have great schools, they are kid oriented small cities. Great place even for nature in one great mountains there "Serra d'Aire and Candeeiros", for everything, biking, hiking and great nature vibe. Great place for cultural things, go visit "Bacalhoa Buddha Eden" what a park.
Thank you for the great suggestions. Love that area, a little bit of everything right there. And yes, we heard about the waves in winter. Sounds like a great time to visit the mountains and the parks.😁
🌲hi guys! How did you find your accommodation in Porto? Did you use a specific site? And what area did you choose, is it safe? Thanks! Love the videos 😀👍🏼
Hey, thanks for the questions! We needed a six-month lease for our visa through the DC embassy. We signed up for a two-month lease that we got through a host at AirBnB, and 4 months from Flatio. After our visa was approved we were able to cancel our Flatio lease. You can cancel up to 30 days before your stay. We also looked at Idealista.pt for our new, longer lease, but ended up finding a place through a Porto Facebook group. We knew we wanted to be in the Bonfim neighborhood, which is very artsy and colorful, and still close to the city center. Portugal in general is very safe, and we feel very safe where we are. Hope this helped, feel free to ask any other questions you might have.
Just discovered your channel ... very nice. I am very interested to hear about your container shipping experience ... we have to do the same thing in few months.
Hey Alex, thanks for the comment! We haven't shipped our gear yet. It's all crated and in storage in the U.S., ready to go. We will be doing shipping it soon, and we'll definitely post about our experience.
We love that area for sure! I think Porto still has our hearts though. Things can change and may very well, the people are so friendly, and I truly believe it would be easier to find your community of people and friends. But honestly, that’s Portugal. Beautiful landscapes wherever you go with friendly people.
You must try frango na pucara, in Alcobaça. It’s their regional dish.
Look forward to trying it. Finding some amazing food here in Portugal.

Great playing! Hard to go wrong with a Steve Wonder classic. Hopefully we can see the Silver Surfers play someday.
I am looking to move from Alaska to Portugal. This area is of high interest, so I appreciate you posting it. Keep on Rockin in the Free World!
Thank you Marty! You’ll love it there, but you’ll love anywhere you move to in Portugal.
Love the background music 😻 sounds like a video game I use to play back in the day! So energetic 😁
Our 10 year old daughter at the time made that song in Garage Band and gave it to me for a gift. I thought it was perfect for these videos.
@@musicianslife360 your daughter is definitely gifted!!!! I would happily use a similar track like this for my intros
Hope you find the perfect place to live here. Thanks for sharing about Pizarista and Rodrigo. ❤
