You know I can certainly understand Vader finding looking into hyperspace calming and soothing. It tickles the brain
Bro
It was likened to drugs if I remember correctly. With a vastly different effect on non force sensitives compared to what force sensitivities experienced.
For example the chiss had their pathfinders known as the skywalkers which are force sensitive who also enjoyed staring into the void of hyperspace
A sentient being shouldn’t do this for too long however, staring into the abyss of Hyperspace causes Hyperspace Madness
@@TheNinjaSandwichGaming drugs
@@TheNinjaSandwichGaming I don't know why it never affected Vader.
There’s a Star Wars mod for Stellaris (can’t remember the name) that incorporates many major hyper lanes. Makes moving around the galaxy a lot more interesting
Ye for now the only way to move quickly though the Galaxy is through gateways in Stellaris
Gosh I love the story of the Hydian Way, especially how it’s told in the Essential Altas as a play. And at the end, it has a note from COMPNOR about how it is fine for a human to play the role of Hydia. Great world building.
One of the best Lore books, neck and neck with The Essential Guide to Warfare, though the Atlas probably wins. Even so, the small section featuring Arden Lyn discussing the first Jedi Schism & Xendor in TEGTW is one of the most intriguing anecdotes in EU/Legends lore, in my opinion.
@@Agonis100 the Guide to Warfare is lower on my list for that awful border it has on every page and the god awful art on some pages. Page 94 specifically.
@@spencersholden Well, at least the LAAT in the background is a bit of an abstract piece! 😅
I've always wondered how the hyperlanes work. I always used to think that you could just go anywhere by just entering the coordinates. But that's not the way it works. These hyperlanes work like you're driving a car and going on an access road or on a highway.
i mean as it is space, the distances of the planets are changing constantly
Sure, you could go from random spot A to random spot B in a straight line, but unless you use a proper route it'll take a ridiculously long time compared to using said routes
@@ZoeMalDoran and the size of the Star Wars Galaxy is astronomical. So getting to a planet without using hyperspace or if your hyperdrive isn't working is almost a guaranteed 0%. Even during the early days before hyperspace travel, sublight travel was still considered dangerous; especially considering that most people have to be put into stasis until they reach their destination. And there are chances that the ships would never reach their destination. Either due to accidents or malfunctioning systems or droids
@@princeofpokemon2934 You can still try to cross the galaxy using a hyperdrive without using the standard lanes, but it will take months or even years longer than normal (hence Wedge describing it as militarily impractical). If you use the proper hyperlanes, crossing the galaxy is a question of days... and if you try to cross the galaxy at sublight, well, we're talking a million years or more
I've noticed it's a lot like flying in our world. Technically it's possible to fly anywhere but you still have to follow certain rules and be prepared to act if an emergency pops up.
Imagine an Imperial Star Destroyer having ludicrous speed? The Imperial Officer in charge would be sent flying off the bridge
Went to plaid?

THANK YOU so much for covering this topic. I feel like I am a minority of the Star Wars fan base that find the astrography of Star Wars fascinating. The Corellians reminds me of the British Empire with their discovery of the Corellian Run and Corellian Trade Spine that helped many planets connect to the core and join the Republic!
Thanks for covering this Geetsly! I’m getting ready to host a campaign that begins from the death of Vader and Palpatine, and this video will help tremendously
Oooo a star wars dnd
Listening to this makes me hope you do a Video about the Star Wars Economy.
As a Star Wars fan who is also working in the financial industry, I would love to see this topic. I did my own research about republic credits and how they followed a fixed system which was backed by the vast mineral wealth of the Muuns which is why I didn’t understand why Watto didn’t accept Republic credits even though Tattooine was controlled by the Hutts. Even though the Hutts had their own currency called peggats, they did a lot of trade with Republic worlds so there shouldn’t be problem with exchange. Also the republic credits could have been redeemed for precious minerals like nova crystals from the InterGalactic Banking Clan.
@@jon6309 Watto simply didn't want traceable currency.
Thanks for keeping the EU alive. I’ll always love some good old EU lore
Speaking of the Hydian Way, how did the Mandalorians and the Sith Empire took control of the entire route during the Great Galactic War?
Legends will always be the true canon.
The 'true' canon is George's movies.
Do a video of star wars animals that were spread through out the galaxy by escaping the gladiator pits.
Do a video of the biology and history of the star wars reek, nexu, and gundart species.
I wish I could travel space like that. It would be so nice.
Let me know when we start space traveling like that. I'll be the first to volunteer.
I love hyperspace always super quick way to get away from danger
I’ve never seen any reference to how the SWGalaxy reacted to supernovas. In multiple thousands of years, surely a few SN would have destroyed neighboring planets around nearby stars. And some of those would have been inhabited. Hope you get a video otu of this.
There are some examples of this in the EU! You're right in that it'd make a good video, so I won't go into it in too much depth right now, but a big example is the Kyyr System, which went nova ~4000 BBY and severed the main hyperspace route between the Republic and Hutt Space, the Ootmian Pabol, which transformed Nar Shaddaa from a reputable port to the slum from film-era stories.
Do a video of history and different types of electro staffs, electro pikes, and vibro blades.
Hey, im making a series about star wars. was wondering a couple of questions. can ships see eacother in hyperspace? Can one ship tow another in hyperspace? can ships attack, or fire non-energy projectiles in hyperspace? how to force a ship out of hyperspace? appreciate the respons :D
Interdictor class Star destroyers used gravity wells to rip ships out of light speed. So that is at least one way.
Only via scanners.
Yes, I think.
No.
With interdictor technology
While doing some ‘archaeology work’ in Berlin, I found what looked like a Sith Holocron from _Star Wars_ . However, it contained _Mein Kampf_ , thus I had the Vatican lock it up in the ‘forbidden archive’ section of their great library, a section that only the Pope, or whoever he deems worthy, has access to (I was only allowed to go in deep enough to turn in such a cursed item, but no further due to the corrupting nature of the other objects inside, including those that I’ve turned in before as a hired gun for the United Nations’ Security Council)…
Hey, I love cold war stuff. Find anything interesting from then?
Plenty, @@julkarcerum7618. But its from the 2nd World War, not the Cold War. And I’ve found a LOT of stuff, mostly unintentional, but its good to know enough of the past because I find it extremely useful in various extenuating circumstances. Think of it as a down to earth version of the _Star Wars_ bounty hunter who finds themselves in unwitting _Indiana Jones_ / _Tomb Raider_ situations and/or scenarios. Some of them are even unintentional bombs that can rival the nuclear bombs, but only because its an explosive version of aged wine (imagine how wine would taste if it was aged at least a hundred years, even 12,000 years, or even more). A good reference in the importance of remembering the past is best found in _Desert Punk_ …
I’m surprised That the heating way did not exist at the time of the Jedi Civil War. Considering Revan had to cross the galaxy in order to find all five star maps.
Absolute cracker full of detailed upload.!! As per usual..channel always finds interesting things to make videos about
Very interesting! It makes me wonder what exactly they’re “calculating” when they go into hyperspace, if hyperspace has been explored for tens of thousands of years. Perhaps routes that don’t intersect with other ships?
Planetary orbital drift. One mistake could easily throw your ship straight into a physical body. Han explains it to Luke briefly in A New Hope.
It's like the space version of Oregon Trail 😂
Probably with the same death count.
when the tie fighters said heeeeeyohohohwhwhwhwhwwaawawawwaahhhhhahahahahhwhwhwhwhwhw i really felt that too
Very integral to the galaxy.
Hyperspace routes are less fascinating than the Senate.
The one time I don't mind learning about astrography. LOL.
Eh, portals and teleportation are still peak space travel methods. Hope the galaxy will rediscover the Gree/Kwa method of the former, while finding effective means to harness the latter.
If possible, they might even be able to explore beyond their minute galaxy... or their singular universe, for that matter.
Edit: This aside though, love the tale of Freia Kallea and Banu Hydia. If only the latter lived though... they would have made a good couple, while this sure demonizes the Neimoidians more.
Yeah, Portals and Teleportation are very superior, but not without their risks, since they too must be stable if not the portal can't form properly or the teleportation can fail and have unintended side effects, not to mention I'm sure just like with Hyperspace there can be natural things that interfere with travel, or artificial ones like with the gravity wells the Intidictors can make.
@@zexalbrony4799 Then live with the risks and adapt to them. Hyperspace was the same when it was mostly unexplorable, and it really beats the other scrappy option we call hypersleep.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Oh yeah, there 100% better then Hypersleep.
Just when you think you know everything something comes along and tells you that you really know nothing.
That still doesn't change the fact that there are 49million kangaroos in Australia and 3.5million people in Uruguay which means if the kangaroos were to invade Uruguay, each person will have to fight 14 kangaroos 😤
There’s that many kangaroos?! A person can barely take 1, let alone 14 each
Let there be war then
What, no emu mentions? Am pretty sure they're playing the magnificent manipulative bastard route, those sly birds.
They should make a show on that girl.
Fact: the only true SW holiday is on the 25th
Op shouldn’t have married someone that his friends/wife doesn’t get along. Once you get married you become a package deal with your spouse in nearly all events. There are a couple male/female events that would be alright for only that specific group to attend an event together as long as it is appropriate for a spouse to attend the event without their spouse.
It's forbidden to say "do you want to ride my hyperspace route" in the Star Wars galaxy.
I dont get how the hyperspace route can work when planets orbit a star
Shhhhh...
... well-travelled routes were updated all the time, so the current coordinates of planets would be public information. Less travelled routes needed to have dedicated teams deliberately making sure trade was not harmed, but its possible that one would exit hyperspace at the edge of the system to pin-point the planet of choice, then micro-jump closer if tech-permitting.
@@dhaburuk6494 An entire Spacer's guild would be required.

Why!? Why did Kathleen Kennedy and Disney ruin OUR Star Wars!? Like you said the world building, the characters, the stories, the in-depth world that brings all of it to life. Now.... Now it's Dead! It died with the three sequel films and it's been a corpse ever since. Kathleen Kennedy and Disney are just necrophiliacs now!! It saddens and enrages me all at once!!!
