the fir'st global k-idol and all runner talent yeah!!! i love Rain :3 thank's for this reaction, he was the first idol to perform choreography with a cane, in fact he was censored in the live shows for that reason lol For me, he is the king of kpop with a career from 2000 to 2021
When one stops for a second and thinks ... 10yrs ago ... the video cinematics and choreo is absolutely groundbreaking never mind the incredible dance moves ~ *Too COOL Too WICKED* "Rain Rules"
The crazy thing is that all these years later, Rain is exactly the same. He looks the same, he sings the same, he moves the same. He hasn't aged at all! He's amazing!
Bi /Rain (Jung JiHoon is his real name) is a legend in the industry. "Rainism," which was released in 2008, is one of his most popular and well-known songs. This was his first release after leaving JYP Entertainment. It's one of several iconic songs of his. As an example of his impact on the industry, "Rainism" is so legendary that it's one of the most covered Kpop songs and dances. Almost every group has covered this song and/or dance in one way or another. This choreography is so iconic that pretty much everyone in Korea knows the dance. Also, if you haven't yet, you really need to see him perform "Rainism" live, there are dozens of live performances to choose from. Rain debuted as a soloist in 2002, but before that he debuted in 1998 as a member of the Kpop boy group Fanclub. Fanclub broke up after 3 or 4 years, which is why Rain became a solo artist. So, yes, Rain is one of the originators of Kpop, and he is still going strong even after more than 24 years in the industry. His most recent MV comeback was in 2017 with his song "Gang", but he has released collaboration songs, singles and EPs since then as well. And when not creating music, he is starring in movies and TV shows. As I think you can tell, he is also known for paving the way as a dancer. Everyone looks up to him and tries to emulate him. Many Idols, including Idols who aren't Korean and didn't grow up in Korea, cite Bi (Rain) as the reason they wanted to become a singer and dancer. For example, BamBam from GOT7 fell in love with being a performer when he was a little boy after his mom took him to a Bi concert in Thailand, and one of BamBam's first cover dance performances when he was around 10 or younger was to one of Bi's songs and dances. And even legendary idols like SHINee's Taemin list Bi among one of the artists who made him want to become a dancer and singer. Bi pretty much taught Taemin how to dance because Taemin first started copying Rain's dances when he was in elementary school as he watched Rain perform on TV. Rain got married in 2017 and has a little girl now, but he is still one of the most popular solo artists and Idols in the industry. He is also a very famous K-drama and movie actor. He even starred in one or two U.S. movies. He has been voted one of the most handsome and sexy men in the world, as well. He is one of the godfather's of Kpop and he is only 41 years old. (Just think, he is only a year older than Leeteuk and Heechul from the Kpop boy group Super Junior, and yet he debuted about 6 years before Super Junior, so that goes to show you how long he has been in the industry.) If you really want to see why he is a soloist and why he is so highly regarded for his singing and dancing, then you have to listen to more of his music and check out more of his MVs, a well as some of his live performances. There is a reason why he has been in the industry for more than two decades and is just as popular now, if not more so, than he was when he was a teenager. His voice is beautiful. I recommend checking out some of his other songs, such as "Hip Song" and "Raining," which also have really catchy and iconic dances to go with them. After years of bouncing around from company to company, Rain started his own company in 2015, fittingly named R.A.I.N. Company, and he debuted the company's first boy group Ciipher in 2021. Before that, Rain also produced the popular Kpop boy group MBLAQ after the group was formed as part of a trainee survival show in which Rain was a judge/mentor on.
After his debut in 2002, his dramas and songs became mega hits in many Asian countries, and he was called a world star for the first time in Korea. He made his film debut after being cast by a famous Korean director whose performance was impressive, and was cast in the Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin. He is a pioneer of the early Hallyu and is still so hot.
Rain started me on my Kpop journey years ago. "It's Raining" was my first song by him. I've even got a poster of him in his It's Raining outfit up in my bedroom. He is still performing, acting, dancing.
In America he is more famous as Ninja Assassin's actor than a singer. Although in Asia in his heyday Rain was King of Kpop. I knew him at 1st from Korean drama though, the ever lasting great K Drama : Full House :D
THE ICON! Rain - love him. He has great new music out too and i loved his episode on Take1. Also fun fact for you Roscoe if you wanna watch a fun movie on a Saturday night - watch 2009's Ninja Assassin - Rain plays the main character Raizo.
@@ThisRoscoe Fair warning if you watch it though. The work he put in to get ripped is r.i.d.I.c.u.l.o.u.s. It’ll spin your head around. The good news: for inspiration, you can watch background/behind the scenes stuff on how he did it. 😎 FUNNY BONUS: he turned up on Stephen Colbert’s show The Colbert Report back then too. How it unfolded: 1. Colbert once had been in the #1 spot, but in 2007 Rain kicked him to #2 as Time Magazine’s Most Influential Person In The World. 2. Colbert then declared Rain to be his arch nemesis. 3. He made a satirical music video of Rain’s popular single, “How To Avoid The Sun,” with, “He’s Singing In Korean.” (Yes. Colbert sings in Korean.) 4. Korean news media outlets caught wind of it, and the rivalry kept going. 5. Rain made a short vlog telling Colbert to keep his day job. 6. Stephen challenged Rain to a dance-off. 7. Rain showed up. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 To hear the audio of the song, look for "He's Singing In Korean" on the Nathan9W channel. And to watch the dance-off, look for “Rain Dance Battle” on the Rainrunway629 channel.
I only knew RAIN as an actor in k-dramas. He introduced me to all things Korean. I only found out he was a huge Kpop singer until I saw BTS dancing to Rainism. 😂
The water bit reminds me of Remember the Time by MJ _ the full length version. So we got Bad, Smooth Criminal & Remember the Time references in this video.
I was already living in Korea and well ensconced in K-pop by the time Rain debuted. However, when I think of Rain, I think of his performance in my all-time favorite animation that later inspired a Wachowski siblings' film, Speed Racer. Susan Sarandon had praised Rain for his impressive work ethic on set as he applied his intense K-pop training regimen in singing and performing to his acting! I was disappointed in the film version when it was first in theaters, but after a re-watch years later, I thought it was epic! I also thought there should have been a sequal with Rain's character involved.
Wow, remember when we watched this! Good times! I’d like to see JK do this cover again now that he is an adult. I’ve always wanted to see Hobi’s version, he talks in the Bangtan Bomb about having danced it when in school.
I had to search for this one after I saw BTS's version. That MV was epic for the time period . And yeah, sexy as hell! Long live the #DirtyOldladyCrew 😉
This is so classic. And i think you'd enjoy other Rain songs/videos especially given an era of music that it would take you back to! I also think you'd really like the vibe (and his presence) in this song from a couple years ago that also features Jackson Wang: ruclips.net/video/-qBOIr1f8q4/видео.html enjoy!

10 years? I'm pretty sure "Rainism" was released in 2008, which would mean that it was 15 years ago.
@@milindawilson9175 Sure thing - even more impressive at 15yrs , never said I was good at maths lol
@@thepenelopejones LOL. No worries. Exactly, if it was groundbreaking for 10 years ago, imagine how ahead of its time it really was 15 years ago. ;P
