First penned by Charles Wesley, who died in 1788, this version moves me so much. There is nothing like Guy Penrod's harmonies, I don't know how these people are staying in their seats. This version by Kelly and Guy is amazing.
One of the reasons why I love this song, is because it expresses the feelings from way down deep in my heart. My one tongue, is not sufficient to express the joy that I feel when I am worshipping the Lord. It would take a thousand tongues to fully utter the words, and feelings that come from way down deep in my soul, to express the appreciation and love I feel for my Savior. He lifted me up when I could not lift up myself. He showed me how much He loved me, when I hated myself, and saw what a wretch I truly am. When I was frustrated at life, and became cynical about this world, and blamed my problems on others, the Lord gave me a spiritual hug, and showed me that He loved me, even in the judgmental state I was in. It was at that time, that I realized I had to take responsibility for my life, my problems, and my past. I realized I needed to forgive those who I felt had done me wrong, or caused some of the problems in my life. I couldn't forgive them on my own, but He gave me the strength to forgive them, as I realized He forgave me, even when I was ugly in my spirit towards others. Now...I cannot express how beautiful I feel life is. Yes, there is plenty ugliness in our world, but there is also much beauty. I will find in this world, what I am looking for, whether ugliness, or beauty. I get to choose which I will look for, and dwell upon. None of this has been accomplished on my own strength, but by the grace of the Lord, bestowed upon this unworthy person.
My momma used to sing this song at church. God brought her home to Heaven 6 years ago and now she gets to sing this right at His throne. 😭 It blesses me to know she is in His eternal presence worshipping Him with her beautiful voice. ❤
PTL ❤ This song has become one of my favorites ... the first time I heard it was 2 days after they passed.😢 I did not know them or their wondrous music before then. Hallelujah, as heartbroken 💔 as we all having lost them, their music will continue ministering for Our LORD. We will have them in our hearts 💞 Thank You Heavenly Father for giving us The Nelons.
Rest High On That Mountain, Kelly. You will be greatly, greatly missed. I first heard this version of O, For A Thousand Tongues by The Nelons on the radio then in person a few years later.
Search the tragedy to the world. I've been a fan since day one. She was the one face. I always looked for at every Gaither event concert clip. As a fan, I will miss her. Thank you dear lord for your promises
I know. She has the sweetest face and looked so kind. Something about her reminded me of my mother and she seemed like someone you wanted for your best friend. Just a beautiful family.❤
Whether or not it is Wesley's 'original', it is a beautiful song and prayer, and it is beautifully done here. Although I grew up Methodist, this is the first version of the song I ever heard. It was introduced to me by my Nazerene father-in-law, who grew up in a Freewill Baptist family and loved the Gaithers !!!
Lyrics “O for a Thousand Tongues” VERSE 1 Glory to the Lamb Whose throne forever reigns. God in the highest Worthy to merit our praise. CHORUS Oh for a thousand tongues to sing Praises unto Thee. Oh for a thousand hands to raise In honor to the King. VERSE 2 We crown You with singing. Our lips shall utter Your praise. In humble adoration, In endless refrain. REPEAT CHORUS TAG Oh for a thousand hands to raise In honor to the King. Oh for a thousand hands to raise In honor to the King. In honor to the King![i]
Charles Wesley wrote this song while going through a battle with pleurisy. Unable to lift his arms or sing. He eventually prayed to the Lord and thi can'ts great song was written
JW Binion Kind of weird how songs can have the same name, just like people. At least the name is easy to remember for those like me who loved it from the start. I tried singing the "original" hymn over this and it blended somewhat! Who knew?
Obviously, but song titles can be identical, just like people's names can be the same. It helps one remember the name, like I did to play it at church. Now we sing it. I love it, but the title is slightly "misleading" with all due respect to its writers.

I AGREE
I thought the same thing! I would have been up worshipping Jesus. But we all worship differently, I know❤
Now Kelly is gone...

Praise ye the Lord
They are home now singing in God's choir. Such a tragedy to the gospel music world

I'm sorry for the loss of this beautiful singer, but now they're rejoicing with the Lord. May the Lord bring peace and comfort to their family

Nothing to be upset about!

This is not the the tune nor the lyrics of Charles Wesley's O For a Thousand Tongues.
That's OK buddy, you can enjoy it anyway.
