    I can tell that pkg unit had some sentimental value to you. Thanks for the video.

    Nice content. You're very optimistic on the longevity of the new York equipment. However if the basic maintenance is done then they should be good for awhile.

    27 years old and still running? I would let the unit run and self destruct PDQ. Then go to my local HVAC wholesaler, buy a new unit and be done with all the anxiety

      We have a 25-30 year (not sure exactly) year old Carrier that is still running strong. We've lived here for 23 years and never had an issue *knock on wood and every other thing*

      My American standard 5 ton R22 has only had one major problem a slow leak which my cousin found last Wednesday. Added 10 pounds of R22 spent 7 hours my unit, with the magic aire 2.5 ton in the basement. Which needed a new blower motor. Cousin charged me $500. Both machines are running like brand new. My cousin said they should be hopefully good for another 20 years. Because I've had almost no problems in 20 years. I put both units in the house 20 years ago.

      @@MrBjorn6 - 10 pounds of R22 alone from any other would cost you around $1,000.00.

      @@MrBjorn6 - to diagnose and replace a simple run capacitor is another $250.00. It’s simply not economical feasible to keep such a system if free parts and services are not available to the average person.

      @@BartSimpson-nr1dy I bought 30 pounds of R22 for $924 by using Google. So 10 pounds of R22 cost me $308 for Freon. My cousin who works on Industrial HVAC system. Did maintenance on both my R22 units that are 20 years old. We needed a Motor for the Magic aire 2.5 ton in the basement. That's cost $159 on Amazon. So in 20 years of having my 2 units. I've spent maybe a total of $2000 in 20 years on both Units and they have given no major problems. You are telling me to get rid of them for what reason. My cousin who only works on Industrial HVAC systems tells me my Unit should be good for another 20 years..I also saw experts on HVAC on RUclips servicing an R22 air conditioning Unit from 1980 still running strong in 2023, because it was installed well and well maintained and isn't costing the owner a fortune to maintain.
      Can you please explain to me why I should ripped out my air conditioning that I've had for 20 years that's giving me very few problems that was installed very well.. When it's working fine? I'm waiting for your reasoning on this topic 🤔

    Before I finish your video, I will take a wild guess that the bypass in the compressor is open.

    I would keep parts out of the old compressor to use for something else such as the blades.

    Great video, you sure do know you stuff. I have a question, you should that both the low and high side were about 150 psi, I assume that 27 year old system was R22, so what should the pressures have been for a working 2.5 ton R22 compressor? Thanks

    • @TaddyDigest
      @TaddyDigest  Год назад

      On a ninety five degree day
      Low side would be around seventy p s I g
      High side would be around two hundred to two twenty five ps I g.

    Their new stuff is terrible. I had American Standard installed new and it only lasted 5 years. It was a lemon from the start and started to need repairs 3 years in. New a/c equipment is trash and made to fail.
