- Ever since we moved in our apartment (4 years ago ) we've had these stains on our tub that are extremely embarrassing. Especially when we have visitors over. I was bored one night and I saw a Blog about cleaning your tub with oven cleaner, decided to try it out. I recorded my experience just in case anybody else was curious.
I like when people don't edit the failed tries. It makes me appreciate her process and effort wven more. Thanks for the video
I LOVE that you included the "failed" attempt!!! Not everyone would do that so thank you!!
Thank you for the feedback
Right !❤
Watch out people. If you leave this too long in can really mess up the finish in the tub as well as eat up the chrome in the faucet handles and tub spout.
For anyone trying this, lay some cling film over the top. It traps the oven cleaner and makes it stronger.
WOW this is amazing. I spilled red nail polish in my bathtub AND i had those awful dirty non-slip circles for 15 years since we moved here. Now we are selling the house and this video is a MIRACLE. It worked so fast!! I'm amazed thank you for this.
This worked totally. I left the oven cleaner on for a couple of hours (because I forgot about it), then used my magic eraser and ta-da! Looks great!
Wow! I used the blue stuff, let it sit for 2 hours, and those old stickers wiped away like nothing. Amazing! Thank you!
I used Easy off blue can and left it on for abut 4 - 5 hours. Came back and it was awesome. This works so very well.
I tried everything, cleaners, steel wool etc, but a cheap can of oven cleaner does the job, spray it on and let it soak a full day and it wipes clean like a new tub!!
So true! I searched for this video. I thought I was the only one that used oven cleaner
Omg. Thanks so much for this tip!! I never would have thought of oven cleaner, but now the little fish stickers are GONE!! YAY!!
yes! best feeling when it starts coming off!
THIS TOTALLY WORKS!! With the Blue one and Magic Eraser!! I’ve tested it myself!
ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES. That stuff will eat through your skin.
I,m gonna try this
You would have to sit it on your skin and not wash for days to have any severe effect. Human skin is extremely resilient and constantly self repairing. Even corrosive materials like hydrochloric acid and bleach have no ill effects, short term.
Tl;dr: Chill.
I learned that the hard way, after I got my nails done.
Thank you for this video. Worked wonders and I tried everything before finding this video
My mom soaked my tub with vinegar for 2 days when she visited. I thought it was ridiculous and wouldn't work because we had already tried all the top brands. Smelled TERRIBLE, but our tub looks brand new. So if you have patience and a nose clip, its awesome on everything.
Do you know if it works on the plastic tubs besides the ceramic tubs? Thanks
@@roku652 mine was plastic/fiberglass
@@roku652 anything but stone
Hi was it white v or just the normal brown one thanks
Mines gone a yellow colour now as I use to bleech my bath a fair bit so fingers crossed I can sort my bath out ASAP
Thank you for making this video!
I did this morning and IT WORKED!
I’m so happy and impressed 😱😱😱
Great job!! Next add new caulking at tile line and it will make a huge difference!!
I have this brush and like it so much. Thank you for this video.
I have a fiberglass tub and I feel so embarrassed because everything is clean but this bathtub get so stained and dull and gross I don't know what to do.
I'm glad I found your video I can't wait to try this 💕💕🎄🎄
You are an angel from heaven!!!! I tried everything!!!!!! This actually worked!!!!!!!!! 😍
thankyou for sharing i have been trying everything to get the bottom of my tub clean thanks
I just used the Easy Off fume free (blue bottle) and the magic eraser and it worked!! I don’t have the sticky things on my tub floor but it was dark and discolored like that and no other cleaners or any amount of scrubbing worked before!! Thanks for this video!
chlorine bleach is my problem solver ... I pour,it on straight on the,tub ... stop the tub up and and put a,little, water in and let it sit and wallah !!! Tub is, sparkling. Lean ..... both I g but bleach for my bathrooms .... and my floors ... better than Lysol!!!
It totally works! I use it on everything even my toilets, pots and pans it’s my go to heavy cleaner and I have been using it for about 30 years!!
Was your tub fiberglass??
@@lindawatson1779 mine is and I used the blue can and a magic eraser. Worked great. I let the oven spray sit for a few hours 1st.
@@lindawatson1779 Don't use on fiberglass tubs...will remove the finish and make it more porous to collected more embedded dirt.
wth didn't know I could use oven cleaner on a tub. think my prayers have been answered.
SNAP! I have to try this because I just moved into a new place, and some hardcore dirt stains have been left behind in the tub. I will film it and put it on my channel to see if it works. Thank you!
Fume free. That's right, you get the fumes for free.
Newknowledge. I love you I am a biologician telling peoples about the harmful effects for their lungs and skin of products like this especially arround children. They never listen so according to you they will get the fumes for free !!!
🤣😭
It may not kill you today, but it will catch up with you, believe me..... ☠️
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Wow! Thanks for posting!
I use easy off in the blue can myself. Spray it on let it sit for 15 minutes then go back with a Mr Clean magic sponge to scrub it off. Works like a charm for me. Happy cleaning : )
Cascade Dishwasher Liquid Stuff will get it out.
It works Like a Charm
And it don't Smell bad. :)
Thanks for Sharing.
I swear I was waiting for you to show me the tub.... then I realized that"s the tube!!! So excited!!!!
I tried this after watching several videos & it really worked well. I was amazed after trying so many other options without half the success of using oven cleaner. I just used the Heavy Duty version of Easy-Off. Some videos suggest using the one that turns blue. What I used was perfect. I waited 45min & used a regular old bathroom scrub brush with hardly any effort. I am amazed! I'm also amazed by the lack of safety in these videos. I can not stress enough the importance of having good ventilation. Open a window AND have a fan going. In every video I watched, not a single person was wearing a mask, gloves or eye protection. Yikes!
Wow! Thank you. I'll try it
I tried this last night, worked great. I used the yellow can of Easy Off, let it sit for 5 mins, and it worked wonders.
It removed a layer of hardened, brown stuff that I probably pressed onto the tub, over a long time,
by standing in the shower.
Came out white as Jesus' robe during the Transfiguration.
This is now my go to cleaner for the tub.
Thank you!! Life saver!
thanks for vid-- finally I know what will work on my tub!!
I have the same bottom on my tub. I always use ez off the blue one.
Next time leave it on for a whole day. The same thing for the stove and it’s parts.
Next day it will come off with ease. Back in the day I would spray the whole thing
up with ez off. The next day I would take the stove outside and hose it down.
Look like new. This was when I was an apartment manger of 84 units.👍🏻😎
Yup, I clean houses and all my clients love me. My trick is oven cleaner but I’ll never tell. 🤣🤣
@@2jcward I change my mind. Not using ez off blue
Using ez off yellow mainly.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so so much for making this video!!!!!!!!!!!
I had grung from my shower mat too. Cleaned with sodium peroxide in a paste. Now I rinse and hang up my shower mat after every shower. Problem solved.
You have to leave it on for at least 45 min. I used the heavy duty one and it worked like a charm. Need to scrub with with magic eraser.
The yellow kind doesn't work because it requires heat. The cold oven cleaner is where the magic's at. :)
Thanks. I was wondering.
thanks
that makes alot of sense.
@@MessySurrender that's not correct at all.. i use yellow on cast iron for removing the season or does amazing. And really fast. The blue I tried for 3 days and 3 soaking and it didnr do anything. As for on here. I know that defenitly is not the answer
@@AverageReviewsYT I tried this out after I googled solutions, I had lived in the apartment for a while and had tried all kinds of chemicals and nothing worked. I found a website where the writer mentioned using easy off only I didn't use the blue can the first time like they specified in the article. I tried both but the yellow one did nothing I have no idea why that is. I've never tried it on my cast iron skillet but now I know if I ever have to.
THX A LOT ! Works perfectly :)
Thank you. I will try it ! 😊
THank you! Bless you I am going to try this if my baking soda and vinegar paste does not work.
yes, it does really work. use the blue can
Thank you!❤
Thank you so much for this video! My tubs have been driving me crazy and I could never get the stains off the anti slip surface no matter what I tried! It is definitely a combination of the oven cleaner and the magic eraser because I tried it first with the scrub brush and had no luck. I think my tubs are fiberglass and it did not damage them at all...just Finally removed those stains! OMG! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :)
Meghan Monroe hhhhjjj
Meghan Monroe Fiberglass like the plastic type? I have a tub/shower insert & the people that rented my house put one of those rubber mats on the bottom of the tub. Somehow it got all stained under there & all the gloss came off. I don't know how to clean it. Nothing has worked so far.
Thanks for video! The only thing that worked for me was Lysol toilet bowl cleaner and a ton of elbow grease 😊.
I've lightly scrubbed the non-skid part with SOS pad. Avoid the acrylic area. I looks like it's removing the non-skid, but it's not. When the non-skid is clean, you can barely see it. It still grips and gets dirty again.
Your video is the only one that worked for me.
I used the blue can Easy Off, rinsed with real hot water, and just scrubbed.
I can't thank you enough
Thank you , you made my day!
Thank YOu ! I want to make more videos like this. You made my day.
The same area as the EZ off, There's usually an Abrasive dark red Sponge made for Porcelain.
I use dish washer powder, plug the drain, sprinkle cup of dish washer powder on the bottom of the tub/shower stall, boil water on the stove, pour the boiling water into the tub/shower, let the solution sit until the water cools, scrub lightly with nylon brush. White as snow. Then I have to add I never let my tub/show get that grungy to begin with so if yours is really dirty it may take two tries. Also stop using bar soap it's what's causing the soap scum buildup.
I have to use to bar soap other stuff doesnt make me feel clean lol
AWESOME, Thanks
Best thing ever, worked perfectly. Sprayed on blue can easy off, left sit for 1 hour. Wiped clean with magic eraser and rinsed with water. LOOKS LIKE NEW!!! SO HAPPY! ....And yes remember gloves and to ventilate well.
Thank you for the tip : )
It will take off coatings and enamel and if you use it often will wreak the shower
It was really helpful to see how the yellow one DOESN'T work - sorry it was extra work for you
Works GREAT!! TY!!!
After fumeless Easy Off oven cleaner setting for about 5 minutes and about 30 minutes of drill motor "Drill Brush" rotary scrubbing my black floor on tub and the rest of shower sparkles.
Not easy off however it's clean.
Where did you get the drill brush?
Use the green scrubbers. Works great!! Also be careful. I didnt realize I had gotten some oven cleaner on my arm and went to get something out of my freezer.........burned my skin pretty bad.
i used this product today and every thing looks so clean like brand new i was shocked !!
thanks for the heads up... :-)
I have stains like that which were under rust stains removed with Whink rust stain remover. I have no idea what gets that off.
Hey try the Lysol Power "TOILET BOWL CLEANER" specifically on those dark spots. Squirt the toilet bowl cleaner on those spots scrub that area with a scrubby then wait about 15 minutes and scrub and rinse that area. PLEASE NOTE: You may need to do this a second time depending on how deep and dark the stains are......GOOD LUCK!!
Leave it on overnight it will work
Does oven cleaner effect drains or chrome drains?
Clr works great I've used it at work
I have used easy off for several years to clean my tub. I went through a period when I was working a ton of over time and didn't have time to clean at home very much. Soooo the tub got pretty ugly and grimmy. I tried all the usual stuff and nothing worked. One day I thought "what the hell" and I tried Easy Off. I sprayed the tub really good, waited about 20 minutes and the grim wipped away perfectly easy. I washed it out and it looked brand new. I have an old cast iron tub glazed with porcelan I think. Another plus...Easy Off is cheaper than the speciality stuff.
The problem now is that we don't know if the end result was due to the blue cleaner OR the magic eraser. I would have liked to see what would have happened with same scrubber used.
Just use both as she did
I love you for this! Did repeat action get it even cleaner?
I am little confused: Is the use of all the products and time that makes the bathtub floor white or just the last sponge?
Just added that to my list 🤣 and another magic eraser or three...thank you so much
My mother uses oven cleaner to clean her antique white ceramic bathtub. Works great.
Can’t wait to go home and try this on my tub
My sister may she RIP used to clean her tub with Easy Off Blue can and her tub was super clean 👍👍
omg I just tried this and it works moved into a new house and the people who lived here before must have never cleaned the tub when I say its was beyond nasty I have tried everything and nothing worked I left it on for about an hour and when I started to wipe it the cleaner was turning brown yuk but it worked
This WORKS! Never has my stupid textured rental tub looked white. Not once in the 3+ years I have lived here. Tried everything. I used Dollar Tree oven cleaner, let it sit for 20 minutes, scrubbed with magic eraser. Miracle. Wear gloves, seriously.
Would you suggest using a magic eraser with it or would any brush do?
This is why U L😍VERY RUclips.
Thank you for sharing.
Is this for a fiberglass tub or a cast iron tub?
I am so going to try this
it also works
This wont sound right at all but IF your tub is like ours with cross hatch texture at the bottom and IF none of these other chem methods work for you (NONE did for ours) as a last ditch trial I tried a tiny spot using really COURSE sandpaper (like #50 as I recall!) My thinking the corse sand grains would fit in beween cross hatch texture ...I sanded lightly and guess what? Took ALL the stains off INSTANTLY and that was like a year ago ...no ill effects! NO downside! It WORKED for US on our brand fiberglass white tub! Your mileage may vary ....test on tiny spot FIRST is my recommendation ...reason I went for it? Cause if that did not work? I was gonna buy the tub paint anyway and would have to sand a little to get the paint to stick ....but? MAN! It like magic just instantly sanded away ENTIRE stain! Hey if this works please take the time to say so and what kind of tub you have! Might encourage someone else and save their butt too! Pay it forward you know!
This works did this years ago in a rental where the bath tub was filthy and stained
Now you stripped the fiberglass sealer off so it will restain very quickly so buy lots of oven cleaner....but good job very impressed with your never give up attitude.....
I believe that was a porcelain tub
After finishing the spray can can you recycle it in blue bin?.
I got two blue can of easy off on my tub it works I USED the green scrubber to scrub thee stain out...thank you ♥️😁
Thanks I was going to paint my shower 🤪 I will try today thanks again
I think if you left the oven cleaner on for another hour or two it would be completely gone
Danielle Marie yeah let hot water run long enough to get the tub hot, make sure the tub is dry, spray down the tub and use a hair dryer for about two minutes and scrub.
...GREAT WORK - AND - THANKS FOR POSTING - I'VE RECENTLY MOVED INTO A NEW APT. - AND - I'VE BEEN TRYING TO REMOVE THE OLD RUBBER MAT STAINS - I'VE USED RAZORS - COMET - BRILLO PADS ETC... - LEFT BY THE PREVIOUS TENANT... - I'M GOING TO TRY IT RIGHT NOW... - AND - PEOPLE ALL AEROSOLS HAVE AN ODOR - THOSE OF YOU WITH RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS - PLEASE BE CAREFUL/MINDFUL OF THEM... - AND - OPEN YOUR BATHROOM WINDOW - IF YOU HAVE ONE (1) ONLY A SUGGESTION - NO I AM NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR - JUST USING AEROSOLS IN A WELL VENTILATED ARE MIGHT HELP YOU/ALL BREATHE EASIER... - ALLEGEDLY
Thank you
I don't think it matters if you use the yellow or blue can, I think you need to leave it on for at least an hour maybe? I do know that the blue can does not get my oven clean at all...
What's the difference between the blue and the yellow can
Great job!...was this a porcelain tub?
I have a lot of iron in my water so the only thing that works for me is toilet bowl cleaner. Not sure what stains your removing but you could try it.
It works you got to let it sit for 30 mins and use a magic eraser you can use any kind of oven cleaner or brand the key is letting it sit 30 mins or so
I've seen Mr Clean Erasers, not try to purchase it yet,Seeing it used on RUclips, I'm going to buy it I've Bathtub cleaning issues.I miss my Baths. So wish me luck!!
I used Lysol green color on the tub & left for an hour & my full tub is messed with blue color. Can any one let me know how to rid of the blue color from the tub.
Peroxide works also!
I tried fume free easy off. It doesn’t work. But I used heavy duty to get years of grime off my boyfriends floors.
Did you shake the can for a foam
Mam all u have to do is get tub paint at home depot or tub gloss as in plumbing dept they should no👍
Actually, I find the obnoxious Easy Off in the yellow can works the best.
