Shoutout to that Driver helping you out. That's what it should be like out here.
I drove a sleeper for 9months🥴I’m so glad I’m in a day cab now… YOU DID GREAT THOUGH 🙌🏾
That guy was a great help spotting you lol
He was. Right please, right time
You did very well… I remember my first load was going into Montreal downtown in Quebec, I had minimal training and the dock was on a very busy street. Nobody was there 😢 to give me a hand. I struggled for over 30 min but miraculously I did it..I almost quite just because those guys decided to send me there with a week of training
Western is wild. They sent me into NYC to Staten Island on my first week too.
It gets better if you stick around and become one of the better drivers you’ll get better and better loads after a few months.
You did good.
For some reason I like ny load now. Appreciate the comment
Staten Island ain’t bad. You picked up paper?
When you are in New York State, the bridge height signs are measured from the hub so you have to add about a foot, unless it says “actual height“
I asked the boss why 3 yrs when companies like Schneider Swift Western Express require none and send rookies to these difficult places. He said, "Because they have the insurance to cover accidents. Small companies like this don't. You hit something and the insurance goes up and I'm hurting. Schneider and Swift can afford it with the money they have. Small companies like mine doesn't have that. So we need drivers who don't get into wrecks."
Make sense what the boss said
Always work the night shift. Especially when heading to NYC.
Lol my first load I had to blindside from the street
Even for box trucks,NYCis challenging, especially in Manhattan where parking is limited.
its funny, the interaction you have with the tech is one of my favorite things about trucking
You’re doing great dude, keep it up!
Appreciate it
Great job, keep it up.
Appreciate it
I’m leaving Columbus Oh tomorrow for Nashville TN to begin my orientation with western express Wish me luck guys
That's hilarious. Within 2 seconds after the episode 1 screen I knew exactly where that was.
Like his video editing and first person camera view makes it entertaining to watch
Same here. My first western load was on the east coast too. Ohio to new Hampshire, my very next one was in Maine and from there i went to brooklyn. All in my first week
It’s good and bad that they give us those type of loads, they are unsafe, but you learn more.
Speaking from experience living in nj most bridges are a foot higher than the posted sign, Not all but some. If it’s a yellow sign it might be ok to go under but all red ones are a no go
The beginning of the video had me weak..
GPS please get me back home safely 😂😂😂😂😂
😂
Hey u lookin good driver I'm thinking of comin over there a train ina few months u be straight lookin good
That jetro is a nightmare for a new driver.. I believe that’s the one in queens
❤❤❤LOVE TO THE OTHER FELLOW TRUCKER...BACKING IS MY BIGGEST CONCERN
The type of people we need in this industry
Bro I had to sub bc you funny af. 😂 but good job backing. I might be your coworker soon.
To be a new driver, You're very brave accepting a new york load. I decline all loads that send me there lol. I would've been on the phone with dispatch so fast
There are those times where you have to ask for help and believe me we have all been there. Backing is no joke especially in spots like this.
This is craaazy! How you doing brother? You did good, the more repetition, the more you will get better.
For your first load you did ok
Smart call...Im not backing up no truck at night.
I hopefully start with western express. They said I have to wait for my physical license to come in the mail...I can't use my temp driving license they printed off at the DMV
I waited until I was confident backing, then backed into truck stops. In the meanwhile, I was parking at rest areas or easy parking spots
Did you notice that there were semi trucks passing you on the left where the bridge was supposedly lower than 13'6"? I have always heard that bridges in New York have heights that are actually taller than what the signs posted on them says. My brother drove a truck for forty years and he always told me that.
Yes, in some areas of ny, its 1 - 2 feet more than what the sign indicates, but never trust it
@@Yawiskey Well, I do understand that.
It’s measured from the lowest point on the edges
All jetros are nightmares!!
Hello, Do western express students have to do a test out when you finish your training such as air brakes test an naming all the part of truck /trailer ?
No
Bro I started Western Express too 2 years ago and had that same stop 😅😅😅😅😅
Crazy right?
I'm in Newark right now , pretty much the same lol. U really earn stripes driving in this region of America 👍
100%
Newark compared to New York you can’t even compare that Newark has the ironbound section which that isn’t bad way more space than trying to go to Brooklyn or queens
@@on_ya_skaduly4734 I disagree everything around there is a nightmare. I've been going up there over 10yrs.
Now you see why most mom and pop companies (small company with maybe 10 or less drivers) require at least 3 yrs experience. I got on one here in TN local but I m still driving sleeper birth because they only have 4 day cabs. One of the drivers told me, "small companies like this is where you sharpen your skills." He was right because this video is what I do at least 4 times a week.
What company? I’m in Murfreesboro
I was doing NYC my first 90 days with US Express, truly sink or swim lol
Does Western Express tell you everything you need to know about the truck? I went to 160 driving academy and they only showed us when we need to know to pass the state test. I dont know how the dump air bags, slide tandems, scales, fill up fuel, etc.
They I only taught us outside/In-can inspection, tug test, backing maneuvers, and road test at 160 driving academy.
Depends on the trainer, some teach well, some don’t, in my case, I learned 60% of the stuff in the commercial trucking industry on my own, making mistakes. Do research, watch videos, plan the trips
This is very false either you weren’t paying attention there because all the guys at 160 take their time to explain everything the only problem with them is they don’t have patience when it comes to people coming in to drive manual but on my first week we dumped bags learned how to slide tandems and all honestly there you have to want it and from my experience people who say things like this didn’t pay attention in school because they literally teach you all things you said they don’t lol
@@on_ya_skaduly4734 Not true. There literally are schools who don't teach certain things to new drivers. They just want that money. Do you actually think every school is out to actually help these guys????
Your steering wheel being off-center like that most likely that truck was in some type of accident or some guy hit a curb doing like 30 or 40 miles an hour but it’s very possible that the trucks alignment can be perfect but it’s the steering wheel is off-center, so you’ll just have to get used to holding the steering wheel the way it is
Could be possible that the previous owner had an accident but, it needs to be fixed. If i get pulled over and they inspect me and see that, I could be sited
I did new york my first two two nightmare
My first solo was throw new year hell my first year was just north east
how long have you been driving for? i would say no to those loads not worth the risk to your license. probability of accidents there are far higher.
How is It working for the company I was thinking to apply with them. Great videos by the ways too.
Its alright, just for the experience. Low pay and poor equipment maintenance
Bro are you a lease purchase driver or company? I’m on month 2 with western myself. Want to lease a truck bad
Signs on bridges are wrong. Every lane is fine right there. New York City measures from the curb up. Back in the day they had a lot of snow and gave you a foot grace period. (NOT EVERY BRIDGE) but most are a foot short from what it really is
I worked for them for about a couple months the shop doesn’t listen to whatever we tell them and the DM don’t gaf about the employees especially when we need help good luck
Main reason why I left
I have 18 yrs experience i wona give back u did good turn wide it's 53 feet ok not 50
Need to be very careful in New York City. 8 years going in a long nose Pete379 extended hood. Don’t underestimate anything. Bronx is the easiest just so you know. Wait til you go to Brooklyn or Staten island
Im going to start next month and its worth it for western express flatbed?.
I’m not sure about flatbed but I heard they can make more than dry van
I know you’re super new. When you’re right next to another trailer, don’t back all the way in. Drop your gear just above the ground before you back all the way in, then release lines, fifth wheel and then drop your bags and pull out. Don’t make it hard on yourself.
Is that college point ? In the beginning of the video ?
It is
@@Yawiskey
Eso está cabron
Always remember GOAL (GET OUT AND LOOK) get in the habit of doing that to stay accident free if you ever want to move on to a better paying company
That’s the place , I ended up hitting the post on the fire hydrant across the street. And nobody to spot me ……
You can’t see it, I had a fellow driver spotting
How's the pay average..about to start soon like to know if its worth it
nope, and you will have no rights
@@Yawiskey no rights? Please explain
How do you like it at western express?
It’s alright so far, it’s not as negative as people describe it, pay is low yes, and Some drivers have had bad experiences with Western Exp, but not me, just understand how they operate like every company
I would have been missed about the flat tire.. it should have been fixed already
What camera are you using?
Sony x3000
@@Yawiskey that’s the same camera that u used when you were showing you backing?
@@glockchicken8695 yes
@@Yawiskeyat 10:46
I live an work in NYC an I work for western the loads get better an nyc ain that bad queens Costco is the worst to do
Any interstate 287, 95 , ignore them dumb fuckin signs just follow the truck traffic.
Side note the George Washington bridge is the most expensive bridge in America. And also one of the shortest
LOL
Get a truck gps. Do not rely on the Western Express gps. And the rims are supposed be round, no exceptions
Why I do not want to drive in states I never been
I wanna start a career in trucking so they do training.
What are the trucks governed at?
66mph
66 mph goes up to 73mph cruise control
@@Zeetrucking88 73 on cruise? No they don't.
Go can get 62-63 on peddle, 66 on cruise
@@Zeetrucking88 😂 western express truck only go 73 when you do down a hill with a 40k load.
Western express is known to fuck new drivers with impossible loads
im doing team driving moms and me will the put us on a home route to south Carolina my home after training I don't wanna be in nyc at all
That 12'6 sign is not accurate. I am from the Bronx, that is the Cross Bronx Expy. I've seen trucks and I myself have gone under it plenty of times in my truck.
Western express trucks have a camera that read the signs, if it’s less then 13’6 it will immediately decrease the speed to 2 Mph in most cases, even though it’s high enough
They send rookie drivers to nyc because the drivers rhat have been there longer tell em no lol. Good luck at western, get your experience and get out
Lmao they gave u the jankiest first load 😂
🔴 JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY HOPE
Yes HE is!! Amen, praise JESUS! 🙏🙌
This is why drivers shouldn't apply to western express. Driving in and out of New York City is nightmare. Taking I-95 is something I would wish on my worst enemy. The dispatcher was in the wrong for giving you a trailer with a flat tire! If you got pulled over by DOT, you career would've been over.
They sent him to get that because he was new and they changed it before he left the lot lol
300,000 ain't shit for a semi bro that's actually low miles for a semi
And watch out for Poland Spring Maine they will over load you at night 😅😅😅😅😅😅
They already did by 50 pounds, i had to throw out 60 pounds worth of lifting weight
Omfg you ain’t lying they are slow asf and I got there 5 hours before and still wind up leaving late and it was a snow storm
Theres worse spots than this lol hes not lying
Ur trainer didnt train u properly 1st u never do a d+h before getting out and checking trl 4 any and all damage take pics to protect urself is sealed and seal matches paperwork and if u think my hometown of nyc is tuff wait rill u go to chicago !🚛🇺🇸
They gave me a truck with doo doo and pee in it
Shouldn’t have taken it
does wester express do hair follicle drug test ? ?
Just urine
What is the big deal about hair follicle test if I may ask?
@@Solitude633 nothing it’s just a more efficient test , it goes back 90 days
Why are you a drug addict are you afraid you got something to hide you won't have nothing to worry about if you're clean whatever kind of test they do 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🤪🤪🤪🤪
REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST BEFORE ITS TOO LATE 🔴,
Brother u r not perfect driver, plz practice for reverse.
Bro I just found out if you quit befor 6 months you have to pay 2500$ for there bullshit training because you broke a contract a contract most people don’t read or see that crazy
😂😂😂 that’s how they get you and that’s why you have to ask first if there is any contract and read the papers ofc
Damn even for a refresher driver?!!
I didn’t know until orientation day, two more months, and I am Houdini
