    How's the pay for flatbed (starting)

    • @JennifersTruckingAdventures
      @JennifersTruckingAdventures  Год назад +2

      I actually just uploaded the most detailed video about the pay on my channel. I deep dive into my last 12 months of pay and it is very informative! In short, the pay is sort of on the low end and could use some improvements! As a company, over the road, flatbedder, I started out making 48 cents per mile, and a year later I am at 58 cents per mile. Now as far as the miles I can get in a week, vary dramatically! If you get the opportunity, please check out that pay video and you will see exactly what I mean! Thank you so much for checking out my video and leaving a comment! I really do appreciate it!

    Next time you run into that situation try and see if there's a yard dog, They can just lift the trailer up without cranking and pull it out for you

    • @JennifersTruckingAdventures
      @JennifersTruckingAdventures  Год назад

      That would be amazing! When I picked up those trailers it was a Saturday and their yard dogs were off! Everyone was off except their security guard! That is an amazing idea though! Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me and comment! 🤓❤️💯

    I’d recommend lifting your landing gear about a few inches off the ground before doing your tug test that’s probably why your feet got wedged or pinched

    Dang is getting up that high on the load normal for flat bed? They have me going for orientation but that looks kinda scary going up that high? Do you do that just to strap it down?

    • @JennifersTruckingAdventures
      @JennifersTruckingAdventures  Год назад +2

      I climbed up there to secure the chains! Yes, it is perfectly normal to have to climb on top of loads! I'm just glad I didn't have to bring the tarps up with me! Flatbed is not for the weak! It is hard work but, I love it! Good Luck to you and your new job!

    Just got off the phone with a recruiter a minute ago, only thing they have out of Memphis right now is flatbed. How is it? Do you know what all they haul.

    • @JennifersTruckingAdventures
      @JennifersTruckingAdventures  Год назад +1

      I believe we haul a little bit of everything requiring a flatbed! That’s awesome you spoke to a recruiter! I love being a flatbed driver! It’s hard work but, worth it! Thank you so much for asking a question and commenting! I really do appreciate it!

    Hey Jennifer. I’m set for an orientation with Western Express on the 13th and wanted to know if you could give me any tips or things to look forward to in my first month. Im also going into the flatbed division so I’m hoping to get some tips and tricks on making sure my load is secured.

    • @JennifersTruckingAdventures
      @JennifersTruckingAdventures  Год назад

      I don’t know what your reasons are for choosing Western Express, but if you must go, Best advice, don’t complain just get it done so you can later move on! Don’t trust everything you hear, go slow, and do your own research! As far as your load securement goes, get a hold of the green FMCSA regulations book and read section 393.000 and on. It is like the flatbed bible!!! It will help a lot as the training goes quick! Best of luck to you and hopefully all goes great for you! Thank you for asking!

      I totally did start back in October last year, I quit Western Express, this was my first load, back at Western. I had a major pay issue that just didn’t sit right with me but, they made it right!

    I noticed at the 3:12 mark you were on "Off Duty".. You need to be in "Sleeper" if you stay in the truck. The DOT might harass you if they see you in some middle of nowhere area with no sleeper time.
