Pamir Pilgrimage - Frozen ice, frozen roads, and first ascents in Central Asia

- Rising over 15,000 ft, the Pamir Highway is the second-highest highway in the world. In January 2020, three geniuses set out to drive it in a fragile Russian van in the dead of winter.
Their goal was to discover unclimbed ice somewhere along the 2,900 miles of winding frozen road. Did they succeed? Perhaps. But one thing is for sure, the trip didn't go as planned.
Directed by Jack Cramer
Footage by Drew Smith and Jackson Marvell

I've been several time in Southern Kyrgyzstan and went along the Highway in May. Got snowed in on the border with Tajikistan on May 31st... Never, ever thought somebody would go out there in winter and just go ice climbing. Mad effort guys!
Man thank you so much for making this and sharing it, what a great watch!

Those guys are so lucky, like really! to see that part of the World and it's people. Proper blessed
You're absolutely right. There were sooo many times during this trip when we felt like the luckiest guys on earth. The worst shit I deal with in the USA is nothing compared to what the kind people in these countries deal with on a daily basis.
Ooo looked like a mega trip, climbed for a long time since young now 41 but still not tried ice climbing. Well interesting nice one glad your all sorted 👌

There is lots of ice in ALA Archa, many other places. I think the guys went on the wrong side of Pamir:))
lol true dirt bag life. a van, a rope, a rack and the back on your back. Keep the content coming
Amazing video!! I wonder how four people slept in that van.
Love ice climbing
So intense....
Scary climbs
Next time u wanna climb some great ice wall, do visit to Nubra valley , Ladakh , India . Cheers !!
sorry, but the last picture wasn´t done on ak-baital pass. the name of this place is kyzyl-art. for some of you it may sounds know-it-all-like, but mixing up places and names isn´t what you would like to see if it concerns places in your area. so please try to stay with the hard facts. even if they are 1000 ft lower. besides this - great film!
You're absolutely right. We're idiots and we failed to take a photo at the real Ak-Baital pass. We also didn't realize our mistake until months later after this video had been made.
I can understand why you wouldn't appreciate seeing confusion like this about places you know well. I sincerely apologize.
Музон- супер!
Todavía es posible la aventura...una maravilla poder escalar en hielo en paisajes remotos, donde nadie ha estado antes🤙
Snow leopard ? Looks like a bear print !
Frozen ice? is there more than one type?
Sounds like a Jeep 😁
Great watch, cool as fuck
the car has no deformation zones...deformation zone are your legs
“The Bukhanka was a piece of shit”.
Ahhahahaha of course
#chaco
Why rent that piece of shit when there are plenty of Toyota 4x4 available there?
Super👍
dope video guys, looks fun. Too scary for me though lol. How dangerous is ice climbing?
