Definitely second this one! My comment above was thinking you all need to try the real Annie’s one-not the shells! I don’t put milk, just vegan butter and it is amaze-balls.
you should do a vegan protein powder taste test!!! i’ve been trying to find a healthier protein powder that also tastes good, but i never know which one to buy
orgain plant protein is the BEST. you can get it at most grocery stores and they even sell a huge tub of the vanilla flavor at costco. just make sure you get the vegan one cause the same company makes whey ones too.
All four of my vegan kids hated the Annie's! We were so stoked to find it at Target and got a little overzealous, buying like 6 of them. Bad move. We love the Amy's frozen Rice Mac & Cheeze for sure! I only wish it came in a bigger size. We're a vegan fam of 6 and even a few boxes is just not enough as a side dish!
YESSSS! i couldnt agree more that is the best Mac & cheese aside from homemade but realistically who has time to sit around doing homemade. For people who are busy and on the go its so much easier to zap it while you cook up your main dish & toss a salad
@@Ashes1024 The sauce is so easy to make. You can nuke the potatoes, carrots, garlic, and onions with the veggie broth (or water) about 4 minutes. Throw it into the blender along with the nooch, acid, and spices and give it a good whirl (approx 1-2 minutes) Toss on pasta, veggies, rice, or even nachos. You could make your own freezer meals. Fill a freezer/microwave safe container with cooked macaroni on one side, some frozen veggies in the middle, and cheese sauce on the other side. This keeps the mac from getting soggy. Cover the containers tightly and freeze. When ready to use, place the container into the microwave and vent the lid. Microwave for 4 minutes on high. Stir the contents together and heat for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through. You might want to add 1-2 tablespoons of water to this, the sauce can thicken when frozen and reheated.
Great video & your friend was so funny it was great to watch! Have you guys done or thought of doing a more baked style mac&cheese review? Kite hill makes an AMAZING Vegan almond ricotta cheese & mixing that w/other Vegan cheeses for baked mac&cheese or cheesy potato/hashbrown casserole is delicious AF
Just made the Amy's Vegan Rice Mac & Cheese last night. It's my first time trying "Mac & Cheese". I didn't follow the directions. The first step is to microwave for 3 minutes and stir. It looked creamy and the pasta was perfect. So I stopped there. I was supposed to put it back in for 1-2 min. Let it sit for 1 min. I also added a touch of salt and nutritional yeast. Yummy! I would definitely buy it again. I have 3 others to try. You guys are the best! I love your friends too 💛
You can make a Roads End copy at home, it is super easy. I have figured out measurements for a recipe that taste almost identical. 1 and 1/3 cups of dry pasta of choice Dry powder 1 tablespoon of flour 1 tablespoon of nooch 1 teaspoon of arrowroot/corn starch 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder 1/8 teaspoon mustard powder 1/8 teaspoon tumeric 1/8 teaspoon Frank's red hot powder seasoning (optional) 2/3 cup of milk (I use cashew) 2 tablespoons of vegan butter 1 teaspoon of soy sauce (optional) Squirt of yellow mustard (optional) Whisk powder into cool milk, add butter if desired and bring to simmer until thickened. (Flour based sauces are as thick as they're going to be once they boil.) Add soy sauce and mustard if desired, stir in cooked pasta. Salt and pepper to taste
Guy on friends' food youtube, "ain't nobody got time to really cook". 😂 Great video you guys. Super helpful in knowing which products to try or avoid. 👍👍
i’ve always loved all of Amy’s products!! they’re so delicious and so hearty and filling ! i’m not vegan but i am a pescatarian and i love their frozen meals when i’m on a time crunch!
I love all of Amy's products ,too ! Since 2000 !!? I don't know how many I've eaten !!! Lol. Their vegan meatloaf & enchiladas are so~ good & teriyaki bowl !!! 🥣👍👍💜🎵🐉🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Blueberry?? WTF.. I think you had a bad package, because the Chao Mac and cheese is my absolute favorite vegan Mac and cheese!! It’s creamy, just the right amount of saltiness. I love to add a little pepper and dried basil, but it’s fine without anything added. Try it again, I think you got a bad one! I like the Amy’s one in a pinch (it’s available locally for me, whereas most of the others are not), but I think that one tastes too plasticky. And it’s too gooey for me. Thanks for doing this video though, it was fun!!
The Chao does have a plasticky aftertaste, but... I still like it, haha. I *hate* that flavor of the Annie’s one; their cheddar flavor vegan mac is much better (still sweet though).
Mary Robicheaux There is a sweet potato and pumpkin one that Annie’s has which is absolutely disgusting but they have another vegan one that doesn’t say sweet potato and pumpkin on it and it’s really good.
I appreciate the distinction between "vegan" and "healthy" in your videos. I had to give up cheese and red meat for dietary reasons (saturated fat and calories mostly), and many vegan options are actually worse for me than their dairy- and meat-based counterparts.
Just made vegan Mac n Cheese. Combined cashew sharp cheddar cheese, butternut squash, and cashews.....vegan margarine, garlic purée, onion powder , turmeric , salt n pepper Blended and OMG !!! Delicious Better than the Dairy version by 100 miles
Such a good video, I don't have as many friends going vegan, but I do get a lot of people going dairy free and this can be a staple I can send. Wish you would have done the Annie's that is cheddar flavor.
Loved this video! My partner and I just tried the Daiya mac the other night and I totally agree! Definitely eatable but excited to try other brands! Super funny y’all! Also I love ketchup on Mac too!!
I love the Modern Table one! The southwest one is especially good-I like to stir in corn and beans.👍 I didn’t care for that Annie’s one-they a different vegan MAC one that is waaay better. I’ve never had the Chao-I’ve wanted to, but I think I’ll give it a pass now!😂
Excellent video. My favourite vegan Mac and Cheese isn't from a pack. I always prefer home made over premade/processed versions. There's always something about home made that makes me enjoy it more. I haven't tasted a premade/ processed version that's as good as a home made version.
According to Amazon there is dairy in the modern table Mac n cheese. When you look at the ingredients it states contains milk. Maybe this is the old version and the new one they took out the dairy. Either way just wanted everyone to watch out and read labels. Ty for another great video guys. ✌🏼
Thank you so much for making this video! The hubs and I are super happy, we tried the Modern Table one and it rocks. Good job adding the non-vegan guy in there I think that helped a lot. You guys are the best!
I never eat mac and cheese plain. With the Amy's, I bake it, and then cover it with bread crumbs and sprinkle on Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend. And with the Daiya, I mix in some Pace Medium Picante sauce. Both are quite tasty!
I finally found the Annie’s one, but haven’t tried it yet. The Amy’s rice one that I find has Daiya cheese. The Road’s End if I’m correct, I tried like 4 years ago and hated it. The Chao one I actually oven cooked and didn’t like it. I would microwave next time if I ever bought it again. I liked the Sweet Earth Cauliflower mac, it wasn’t bad.
I LOVE these videos. They are always so thoroughly done and well produced. And they’re always top quality and so helpful for someone like me wanting to go vegan but not knowing which alternatives are good, ingredients to look out for, and what’s “healthy.” I would love to see these done in this series too -fake meats -burgers -tofu (or the different ways to make tofu but rated) -milks ❤️❤️❤️

I used to eat the Roads End kind back in the olden days when I first became vegan. It was the only brand available. I never thought it tasted like cheese, but I did enjoy it.
when i saw the annie's creamy sauce one, i was like ew wrong one lol their cheddar style one is great, it tastes the most like KD to me and the amy's brand is also my fave
I was so disappointed with the Mac & Chao. Mine had cayenne in it which I didn't like. I added nooch to it and which made it tolerable. Your friend Tom was quite entertaining as well. He should be in all the taste test videos. ha ha
I agree that the Annie’s regular cheddar (not the sweet potato one) is the best boxed mac and cheese - I actually went back and checked the box because it tasted so much like the kind I remember eating as a kid. Definitely try it! (and report back!)
OMG YES!!!! Someone has the same opinion as me about the awesome duo of Mac and chezy and Ketchup. One thing to say. God blessed my ears PS. Greetings from Puerto Rico🖤
I seriously love that you have non vegans try these. I'm a non vegan leaning towards going more plant based with my diet and love to hear from a non vegan on taste and texture!
the amy's frozen mac is bomb but I'm surprised they didn't like the chao one, I used to get it all the time! something about frozen mac just hits different I guess lmao. but I definitely gotta try the modern table one someday if I can find it :O
You guys missed out on the Annie’s Cheddar flavored one. That’s like legit Kraft boxed Mac and cheese flavor. Amy’s used to be my go to but honestly it’s way overpriced. The Annie’s is my number one.
You guys should do a taste test comparing vegan frozen pizzas 😁
Great idea!!
Sweet Simple Vegan. Oh my! What Happened to ur hand???
Tendinitis-- Nothing too serious but it's just a result of straining it with photography and editing! :/
I would second the idea to review frozen pizza's. Hopefully Jasmine's hand gets better soon.
@@davidthescottishvegan Thank you! :)
Thank you for including a nonvegan. For mixed households it's very helpful to know what a nonvegan will find palatable too.
You guys have to try the Annie’s vegan cheddar mac and cheese (the one without sweet potato)! It’s the BEST vegan mac and cheese!!!
Oh dang!! We didn't see that one, we have to find it next time
Definitely second this one! My comment above was thinking you all need to try the real Annie’s one-not the shells! I don’t put milk, just vegan butter and it is amaze-balls.
Yeah I was gonna say, Annie’s has and actual “cheese” flavored one. The sweet potato one doesn’t say cheese anywhere it’s just “creamy Mac”
I was just about to comment that! That there is a cheddar Annies vegan mac. I love that one. It tastes very similar to the kraft mac I grew up eating.
That one is so gross lol
you should do a vegan protein powder taste test!!! i’ve been trying to find a healthier protein powder that also tastes good, but i never know which one to buy
elliehsu ooo yes!!! Good idea
Expensive taste test but id like to see that too.
My fav is the French vanilla purely inspired powder. You can get it on amazon. It does have stevia in it though.
Sunwarrior classic protein classic plus in chocolate is my favorite and has none of the bad stuff.
orgain plant protein is the BEST. you can get it at most grocery stores and they even sell a huge tub of the vanilla flavor at costco. just make sure you get the vegan one cause the same company makes whey ones too.
Slowly but surely switching to being plant based and I appreciate these kind of vids!!!
deanna sanchez aw yay awesome!!
"I'm only eating a bite or two" *tries to finish the bowl*
HAHAH
Haha I totally noticed that too.
Do more taste tests with Tom!! This was really fun :D
The Amy's one is my absolute favorite. So good.
Samantha Beaupre agreed!!
Agreed, especially with Franks hot sauce on top! Totally negates the Daiya taste 😁
@@emmybuns6964 the Amy's one doesn't have daiya in it?
Samantha Beaupre it is SO good, especially with some chunky salsa on top. Oh my
I eat it like every week!! It's so damn good!!
I add broccoli and “bacon” bits into the Daiya one and top it with breadcrumbs when I’m feeling fancy!👌🏽
Same! Toast the crumbs in a little vegan butter before sprinkling and youve got yourself a gourmet meal there haha
Broccoli 🥦& cheese go so well together ,so does vegan cheese !! 👍💜🎵🐉🥁🎤🎶💞
Amy's rice mac was my FAVE when I first became a vegan years ago. Still a favorite, but too expensive for everyday
Thumbs up loved this vid Tom was hilarious 😂 thanks for the recomendations
Jasmine your giggles are contagious. I couldn't stop smiling ☺.
Lupe Ortiz i know she’s so cute
Haha thank you I’m glad you laughed with us! 😂
I need a video like this for protein shakes and grilled cheese sandwiches

I agree!! It needs to come in a family size haha.
Marie Johnson wouldn't it be cheaper to make a home made version for a family of 6?
Try the Annie’s vegan cheddar version (without sweet potato & pumpkin)! It’s the best I’ve ever tried
YESSSS! i couldnt agree more that is the best Mac & cheese aside from homemade but realistically who has time to sit around doing homemade. For people who are busy and on the go its so much easier to zap it while you cook up your main dish & toss a salad

1 and 1/3 cups of dry pasta of choice
Dry powder
1 tablespoon of flour
1 tablespoon of nooch
1 teaspoon of arrowroot/corn starch
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
1/8 teaspoon mustard powder
1/8 teaspoon tumeric

Whisk powder into cool milk, add butter if desired and bring to simmer until thickened. (Flour based sauces are as thick as they're going to be once they boil.) Add soy sauce and mustard if desired, stir in cooked pasta. Salt and pepper to taste
the Annies box one has a Cheddar flavor style, that one is SOOO much better
Amy’s was my favorite for a long time, but I recently tried the Chao and loved it. I think it’s the creaminess that won me over!
I actually really liked the Chao mac and cheese when I tried it😂🤷🏻♀️ I may’ve gotten a different version though
yeah me too!
same!
Yea I loved it !
Mine tasted like sweet plastic, maybe I got a bad batch lol
I love it too. It’s someone get at least once a month

the daiya one with vegan butter and some almond milk is great imo.

I think Vegan Zombie sad the new iteration of Amy’’s frozen mac n cheese uses Daiya. Excellent and helpful video...thanks!
Annie's makes a cheddar flavor vegan mac and it's pretty tasty - better than the pumpkin and sweet potato one!
I really like this guy!! Bring him on more often
Try the Annie’s vegan Mac that isn’t flavored with sweet potatoes. It’s the best boxed that I have found!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have been hit with a wicked Mac n cheeze craving and have had no luck satisfying it.
