  • The inclusion of an EVF or electronic viewfinder on the 6KPro was a welcome one, but it's placement left a lot to be desired. Enter Tilta's Tiltaing accessories to help solve the ergonomic issue.

Does this make the Blackmagic 6KPro a viable camera to use on shoulder work? Does it make the EVF worth $495?! Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for the info. I know this is old, but as a new BMCC6K owner and evf owner, seeing the usefulness of the Tilta is not only helpful, but I wasn't thinking of it for a shoulder rig which is now making the old noodle go....hmmmm.....

Hey George great video :) Could you maybe try turning the evf bracket around 180 degress where the nato clamp attaches to the cage. then mount the evf extension on the side instead on the bottom. I know your shoulder pad is quite far back. mine is right underneath the camera. But it should be very easy to align with your eye and look more like a typical cinema camera evf.

The damn problem is, I love the EVF just attached to it's port on the camera when I'm traveling and don't have the camera rigged up.
So I own the EVF anyways, which makes getting ANOTHER EVF seem a bit redundant.

YO this is exactly how I feel about it right now, was about to sell it but I do love having it on those slim build days...

I rigged mine differently and it's much more adjustable. (Wish I could send you a pic)

Could you send it to me? Do you find this evf rig comfy/useful?

Looking an EVF for one of my P4Ks, any recommendations?

From that camera it’s gotta be something like the Gratical Eye or the latest from Portkeys. More universal type solutions. (Better in the long run!)

black electrical insulation tape fixes the eyecup issue. 60cm or 30cm cable?

    • @georgemichaelofficial

tape is a temporary fix, like to avoid it when possible. I have the longer cable, incase I rig it up on a shoulder setup as shown.

Is the bracket needed for the extension cable or could I use a nato rail?

    • @georgemichaelofficial

you could just use NATO, but mounting would be a little odd. Seems possible though.

You are making an informational video, so light it that way. You are underexposed and you are trying to feature an item that is predominantly black. The color tubes behind and minimal light from one side only is not consistent with what you are trying to highlight. Horses for courses. Having said that, thanks for the nice information.

It's always accounts that have never made a true RUclips video dropping these comments. You don't have a single video that isn't natural light.
This comment did nothing helpful as this video is 2 years old. I'd agree that I could light this brighter on the blacks if I wanted to..but I didn't want to then, so I didn't.
