Yeah, I also watched your comparison video with the Sire vs this Bass; very nice to here those two A/B'd together in one video, I really dug it, Thanks for that one as well 😄👊🏾
Hi Lincoln. Yes she still has the Sire but she is playing her P bass more at the moment -- it's only 7 pounds 13 ounces. From my perspective, I'd rather have the Fender but that is in large part because I grew up with Fenders. Both are really good basses.
Personally own eight four string Fenders. Five MIA ,three MIM Signatures. When it came time for a fiver . I was about to purchase that same Jazz bass . But decided to go to a Dingwall Combustion 3 5-string . Made more sense.... 34" B string just doesn't cut it .
@@izziOnBass The Sire MM Vintage 5 has 70s spacing: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MMV7VS4N--sire-marcus-miller-v7-vintage-swamp-ash-4-string-bass-guitar-natural The old Fender Marcus Miller 5 strings had 70s spacing if you can find one of those at a good price. I'm sure there are others too but those come to mind.
So how did you know which knobs did what? (Out of the box, without playing and noodling first.) Fender provides a manual (online only) which covers their guitars in general. There is no specific manual to this bass. As a novice to 5 string I really had to goof with this to find what was what. Fender was no help. Is this the kind of info that's only disseminated through reps to stores or something? [I just heard you say American Ultra and sure enough, there is a good manual for that model. They could have just copied it and put it on the Player Support page] Thanks for the vid.
Hi Bill, thanks for watching and for the comment and feedback. A lot of active basses use the layout that the Fender Player Plus uses -- volume, pan/balance, stacked bass/treble, mid, and if there is a switch it is usually active/passive. Fender should include an overlay, though, on the knobs that shows the controls, like they include on the American Ultras, because a lot of people are not going to know what the knobs do. This is how the American Ultra comes: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JBassAUMCB--fender-american-ultra-jazz-bass-cobra-blue-with-maple-fingerboard?mrkgadid=3319278802&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gdsa&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=studio&recording&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=39700064761333972&lid=39700064761333972&ds_s_kwgid=58700007221224519&device=c&network=g&matchtype&adpos&locationid=9012939&creative=530924157982&targetid=aud-971328289679%3Adsa-1358843191589&campaignid=13711448813&awsearchcpc=1&gclsrc=aw.ds&&rkg_id=0&campaigntype=dsa&campaign=aaDSA&adgroup=1669547166%3ADSA+-+Product+-+Bass&placement=google&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxoiQBhCRARIsAPsvo-xd5Dq6MXkRorDiSDc4NNxSppQLIvOuM53DFcZ_qfHhjZf9D6zWUasaArapEALw_wcB
This bass is suspect for the price it should be 799.00, I believe the fender deluxe was the exact bass so why the price boost not good fender ripping off the customers.
I like how it sounds like everything about this bass annoys him but he likes it at the same time haha
😂
I think this Bass sounds Great! I want one of these so bad, nice review, Thanks for posting.👊🏾
Thanks for watching 64jazz. The Player Plus is a cool series and the one I looked at was very nice!

@@64jazz Thank you!
I have never had any issue with “string twist” in a string through body bridge. No idea what you mean
Hi Hogan,,, does your daughter still have her V7??? Was it the better choice over the player Plus? Im trying to decide which to buy.. cheers

that B doesn't quite cut it for me...
Hy, what kind of tuners and bridge would you suggest for reduce the weigh of this beauty? thanks
I'm not sure what would retrofit without modification. Honestly I'd probably just leave it stock, it's a cool bass.
I really fancy one of those but im not sure about a 34" scale on a 5 string.
The B string sounds good on the Fender. Go try one through a good amp and see what you think!
Fyi 5th gen on the noiseless pickups...just ordered the tequila sunrise version. Nice video. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks Chris!
Sounds great. I have a Player series 4. Do you know if Player Plus is based 60s or 70s? TIA
Player and Player Plus use the 60s pickup spacing and alder bodies.

Sounds like you need a custom made bass guitar.
Or are you just doing a review?
Thats another thing for the price why the frets are rolled or filed for the price.

Very informative video. Definitely looking into buying one of these
Thanks. Very cool basses!
Pues el que lo siente muy pesado talvez esta débil que mejor toque guitarra de esas lijeras, ese bajo player es buenísimo
Dude, you can play!
Thanks so much for saying that and thanks for checking the video out!
Those pups are not silent. Very weak move by fender. I know, cause I owned one.
I hear you Robert. I much rather have passive single coils.
It’s a very very heavy bass that no need for it
Its looks short 😒
