Joel Schumacher had a wonderful vision for the visual ascetic of Gotham, I love the impossible high rises and sky scraping railways. It makes Gotham feel so other worldly.
Fun fact when Tom Holland and Michael keton were filming fight scenes in spider man homecoming according to Tom he said that Micheal would always whisper I'm batman to him

There is a LOT of the animated series present in Forever and thank goodness right? Because i think most people would agree that the animated series is the best take on Batman
Here’s an interesting tidbit about this movie’s Batmobile, I believe it was designed by H.R. Giger, the legendary designer of the Xenomorhs in the Alien films.
One of my favorite Batman movies. Loved Val Kilmer as Batman and Tommy Lee Jones was excellent as two face. And the score in the movie always gives me chills
Val Kilmer was one of the best choices for Bruce Wayne ever and he really tries in this movie...but everything else is trash. It's like watching a gritty Batman stuck on the Adam West universe.
When done correctly, Tommy Lee Jones can do wacky and over the top. Legitimately his role as the Villain in Under Siege is one of his best performances.
Even tho I think Jim Carey isn’t exactly the actor to play the character of the riddler I freakin love him I grew up with his movies as a kid he’s just absolutely amazing to watch
Chris, it should be "Than" in the title. And Batman Forever is an absolute classic. I don't care what anyone says. One of the most nostalgic movies ever made. Val Kilmer is awesome. Jim Carrey is awesome. The score is awesome/ Everything about Batman Forever is awesome. Wish we could all go back to 1995 again
Ugh, my biggest issue with this movie is Tommy Lee Jones’ acting - so over the top - but I know he was just following directions. It would’ve been nice if he was more serious, and that would’ve been a good opposite to Jim Carey’s wackiness, but other than that, I can still have fun with this movie.
These reviews always got me watching these movies again lol *me thinking it's normal, cuz it's CRIS we're talking about for batman's sakes*😀 (FYI not a hate comment, LOVE ur vids.)
The Batman 89 comic has some interesting concepts that I really like, but as you read further into it, it gets into modern political issues which wouldn't have been stuffed into a 1995 Burton movie. That made me accept Batman Forever more. The Redbook fan edit is interesting. I think Burton should have gotten to make a movie with some creative help to reflect more the 1989 tone. What I remember about Batman Forever is a return of Batmania that Batman Returns lacked. Not my favorite, but its story on the franchise is interesting. The soundtrack was the best part....
@@Evan15 It heavily alludes to BLM like issues in Gotham City, and it is clear they are given a large mic in the content without critique of their own objectives and actions. Seeing Catwoman back is nice...we'll have to wait to get the real scoop when The Flash hits theaters...
3C, thank you for diving into the depth of Batman Forever, and showing the connection to the previous two films!! It is an underrated installment of the Batman franchise. Plus, all the nitpickers and haters needs to stop putting Batman Forever in the same range as Batman & Robin.
Some of the greatest cinematic shots from any of the Bat films are in Forever. Its difficult trying to keep a films integrity when the studio bosses have 'ideas' and the big money comes from merchandising.
This is controversial but Val Kilmer was my favorite live action Batman up until Christian Bale, even though I liked the Michael Keaton movies more I still preferred Val Kilmers interpretation of Bruce/Batman. Probably because he was actually Bruce more often. Also Jim Carey is the best.
Batman forever was the first Batman movie I ever saw. I fell in love with the character so much that I used to play with my brother as Batman and robin. I watched it over and over. Then we went to walmart and my dad bought me BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. And you can guess what happened next. Batman forever is a really underrated film and, in my opinion, it’s one of the best Batman movies in live action. I hope we can see the darker cut one day too.
Good review!! Batman Forever is my Favorite of all the Batman movies!!!!! I Love seeing Val Kilmer & Chris O'Donnell Shining in their Batman & Robin costumes!!!!!
I remember absolutely LOVING this movie as a kid. I even remember the parents taking me and my brother to see it in theaters when it came out. And for a 7 year old this shit was my Gone With The Wind! 😂
I will forever have a place in my heart for this movie. I seriously don’t understand why there’s hate for this film. It has better fighting choreography, better character development, they finally introduced Robin with a killer suit and the soundtrack was the best out of all Batman movies. I still get goosebumps watching Kiss From A Rose by Seal.
I love me some Batman Forever! I would love to see Chris O'Donnell come back some how for cameo of some sort as Robin/Nightwing and it would be fun to see Jim Carrey as well!
I was about 7 years old when this came out, it honestly was my favorite Batman movie, I liked how it had a slight dark vibe to it (I was scared of that giant bat), I enjoyed they gave Bruce a bit of mystery to deal with, made him show a bit of his problem solving and cognitive skills, it had Robin it it lol & I loved Jim Carey at the time!
I’m 22, I grew up watching this movie I know most of the lines by heart. I was simping over Drew Barrymore so much in that scene I didn’t notice Jim Carey just chilling standing in the background 🤣🤣
This film is a little colorful but I was sad when Billy dee Williams didn't come back to play Two Face and was replaced. I really wonder what his Two Face would have been like.
For me, it's a middle of the road sequel. It does have genuine good stuff but they are many stuff that holds it back. For years, it was considered the most underrated Batman movie of the series but in retrospect, it's far from even that. Batman Forever had the right ingredients but it's like someone pissed in the recipe. It misses the mark on it's tone than Batman & Robin because it's so inconsistent tone wise, It doesn't know if it wants to be kiddy or gritty due to the battle of the studio meddling the production and Schumacher wanting it one way or another. And it misses the mark on the villains completely. Gone are the emotionally compelling villains and instead replaced with generic as hell kids movie villains and they are the bread and butter of Batman's stories. Bruce's psychological issues is good and further develops his character that Keaton's sorta lacked but you can't treat this a average MCU film where you have a good hero but the villain sucks, the villain has to be as great in a Batman movie otherwise you lack any tension or engage the audience, just with flashy eye-candy to destract your children for an hour. Batman Forever isn't a bad though, it's just disappointing and that hurts a lot more than if it was just a bad movie like Batman and Robin; to see the potential put to waste.
Super underrated! It's a visually beautiful movie. Val Kilmer is fantastic as Bruce, and he really looks the part. And don't get me started on the score! Fantastic music!
I've seen seen every live action Batman film in a theater since 1989, and I remember the summer of 95 very well. Everyone around me was excited to have a new Batman movie. And all if going into it knowing we were finally going to get Robin, and Riddler and Two-Face...it was very very exciting. I still have my McDonald's Batman Forever glass mug. Could have done with out the bat nips and the shots of bat-ass, but I still love this movie.
I absolutely love Batman Forever and hate when people say differently. I love Chris O'Donnell as Robin. Thought he was so cool. And Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones are in this movie? Come on! So much fun! Michael Keaton will always be my favorite Batman but I do enjoy this movie a lot. It's fun.
Val Kilmer is the most underrated batman /Bruce Wayne. This was the first time in live actin that they drove into the psychology of batman which is generally overlooked due to the campy nature of the villians in this movie. In retrospect this movie is awesome
Chris I'm with you all the way on this one. I know a lot of Bat fans were pissed off at this one but it had so many great things going on, that gets overlooked. The young me was so hyped at that ending scene with Batman and Robin running off into the camera. Fantastic.
This was one of the first movies I saw in theatre as a kid and I watched it again this week. Hasn’t aged well. Val Kilmer seems like he’s in different movie as he plays it serious while The villains and Chase are in comedy mode. With the quality of the cast I believe they could have done a much better movie if the studio wanted to.
This was my first Batman movie in theaters. I love it and always will. Not ashamed to say I actually like this batmobile more than the 89. Not to say that I don’t like 89, I just really think they did a better job at making the car more bat-like.
This movie gave Bruce Wayne an arc better than the Burton movies. Aside from the camp, what Joel tried to do with Batman was great, delving into his psych. Also Val Kilmer is severly underrated in the role. WB should release the schumacher cut.
I don’t care what anyone says, but I believe Val Kilmer was the best Bruce Wayne. Batman Forever is underrated and only gets as much abuse because of its successor; Batman & Robin. I would love a Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever.
I feel like they should’ve made that Robin “Jason Todd “ it would’ve fit so perfectly with the persona that was given by the character… HE HAD A RED MOTORCYCLE HELMET, I MEAN COME ON 🤣🤷🏾♂️
After the popular and serious Christopher Nolan Batman films were released, it always seemed to me that it was very "uncool" to like a campier Batman film like Batman Forever, and Joel Schumacher's next entry Batman and Robin didn't help it's reputation either. Yet a majority of people seem to forget/are unaware that it did very well at the box office back in 1995, and Batman creator Bob Kane even cited Val Kilmer's performance as his favourite interpretation of the character.
This movie reminds me of being 8 yrs old again I remember watching this on video tape in my room before bed must have been once a week atleast! So colourful and fun. I haven’t watched it since I’m not sure if it’ll ruin that nostalgic feeling for me.
The biggest flaw with this movie is that they made both Two Face and the Riddler act like knock off Jokers. The batnipples and casting a WAY too old to play the role Chris O'Donnel didn't help. When Bruce takes him in its like, the dudes 25.
This is the Batman film where reviews are divided. Nostalgia and Jim Carrey are what carries it to a mostly positive review as well as Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne. But I still acknowledge the cheese and the toy marketing which is funny 😁 I saw what Joel Schumacher did with that overhead shot of Nicole Kidman in bed, the blanket really shows the contours and curves 😄 👀
I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was exactly who this was aimed at and I had sooo many toys from this, so their attempt to sell merch definitely worked with me when this and B&R first hit. One thing I’m surprised you didn’t talk about was the new score. While I don’t think it’s as iconic as Danny Elfmans theme the new one for this was pretty great i always thought. Definitely an underrated one after all this time.
This was my favorite film of the 4 early on. My HONEST thoughts, I'm almost ashamed to enjoy it because of the new era and quality of DC/Marvel media. Your review helps me feel less ashamed lol. I'll be watching the three with my son soon!
I actually don't mind Chris O'Donnell as Robin but the issue comes with the age. The dude looks early twenties which kinda changes his dynamic with Batman. If he's a kid, he'd process grief differently, not saying he wouldn't still be sad as an adult but as a child to have everything ripped away from you is much more devastating. Plus if he's an adult, it makes it little weird that Bruce is like "Hey come live with me"
I love this movie. Batman/Bruce doing some detective work, Robin being a badass/butthead... The scenery, the fight scenes, the plot about inner turmoil and regret mixed with the corruption of power. The little jokes, and the zany Riddler and Two-face antics were just so great. it's not perfect, but its a great Batman movie about family and responsibility.
I love this movie, probably the first movie I ever fell in love with as a young kid. I really like how the set pieces, characters, and events are surreal making it more akin to a comic book coming to life which I think Joel Schumacher nails.
Lee Jones: "One man was born a hero, his brother a coward. Babies starve, politicians grow fat. Holy men are martyred, and junkies grow legion. Why? Why, why, why, why, why? Luck! Blind, stupid, simple, doo-dah, clueless LUCK!"
As a big Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys) fan, I loved this film. And Drew Barrymore’s bad girl mini cameo was a fun touch too. While Jim Carrey is terrific at what he’s done in most of his films, in far too many, this one included, from start to finish he is same Jim Carrey way too over the top persona. Does it work here? A little perhaps but then, for most of the film, he’s more doing himself than Edward.
I think the reason Gotham appears brighter and more colourful in Batman Forver is due to the events of the previous movie. Perhaps the city council made a concerted effort to introduce a more cosmopolitan angle to Gotham and make the city appear more alluring and prosperous in order to improve its image.
The biggest mistake they made with 2 face is when he keeps flipping the coin wanting to kill Bruce Wayne. It made it seem like flipping the coin wasn't important if he's gonna do what he wants.
I adore this movie. Maybe because I saw it in the cinema before Batman & Robin existed. This film just has so much energy and a surprising amount of depth. Loved your review!
Great video Chris!!!! These first three Batman movies are always something special because everytime you watch them you find something new that excites you about that Batman movie. Now Batman and Robin on the other hand is not necessarily like that..... Thanks bro!!
I hate to say but Batman forever is the only Batman movie where it felt like he was in a comic and could fight a giant robotic dinosaur or deal with a 4th dimensional being
As a successor to Batman '66, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are fantastic legacy flicks. I dont consider them apart of the Burton films. But both are near and dear to my heart...

This movie reminds me of being 8 yrs old again I remember watching this on video tape in my room before bed must have been once a week atleast! So colourful and fun. I haven’t watched it since I’m not sure if it’ll ruin that nostalgic feeling for me.
Loved this movie growing up as a kid was my favorite out of the 4 and still have a soft spot for it to this day
I miss the part with audio😅
I grew up watching Batman, Batman Return, and Batman forever. Love all three. They each brought something different and I enjoy that till this day
The biggest flaw with this movie is that they made both Two Face and the Riddler act like knock off Jokers.
But I still acknowledge the cheese and the toy marketing which is funny 😁
I saw what Joel Schumacher did with that overhead shot of Nicole Kidman in bed, the blanket really shows the contours and curves 😄 👀
The toy marketing was in Batman & Robin.
This is the best Batman flick of all time.
I think Jim Carey has a really underrated performance in this. Just me?
Plus if he's an adult, it makes it little weird that Bruce is like "Hey come live with me"
I’ve always loved this movie!!
Hey 3cfilms your audio is broken 💔
I can’t wait to see Paul Dano’s Riddler
Keep the bat videos coming bro loving all of them
3 things made Batman Forever cool to me 1) the theme 2) Jim Carrey (love his version of riddler) 3) the Seal song lol
My favorite Batman movie of all time. I’m born in 1991 🥶
I think the reason Gotham appears brighter and more colourful in Batman Forver is due to the events of the previous movie. Perhaps the city council made a concerted effort to introduce a more cosmopolitan angle to Gotham and make the city appear more alluring and prosperous in order to improve its image.
I agree with you about it being possible to have Robin be 12 or 13. Look how Chloe Grace Moretz was in Kick Ass as Hit Girl
The film aesthetic is great because its like they took the look of Batman Beyond (wasn't created yet) and applied it to the look of older Gotham.
The highlight of this Batman movie is kiss by a rose by seal
I mean that is very true
Great video Chris!!!! These first three Batman movies are always something special because everytime you watch them you find something new that excites you about that Batman movie. Now Batman and Robin on the other hand is not necessarily like that.....
Thanks bro!!
(Spoilers) Mini Riddlers in The Batman kept the legacy of goons dressed as their bosses alive.
That was the longest day and a half I was waiting for this one. Thanks bud
I hate to say but Batman forever is the only Batman movie where it felt like he was in a comic and could fight a giant robotic dinosaur or deal with a 4th dimensional being
Val Kilmer captures the tortured and taciturn side of Bruce Wayne much better than Keaton did, at least in my opinion.
I love this batmobile
You're a beast chris love it keep it up the running red lights joke is hilarious
As a successor to Batman '66, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are fantastic legacy flicks. I dont consider them apart of the Burton films. But both are near and dear to my heart...
