@@andrewenglish3810the left most lane is a passing lane not a "cruise whatever I feel like lane". If you wish to drive 90 there is no problem with that just do it in the right lane so that people can pass you safely. Once people understand the very basics of highway etiquette we will have way less accidents.

If you dont know how to drive, the speed limit will not matter anyway. Please have the left lane as passing lane and not for slow drivers.

Should be 120 km/h, instead of 110.
It should really be 80km/h not 100 or 120km/h in the city limits.

I do 110 on the 401 and I pass no one and I keep getting passed.
100% if uts 90kms they will do 110kms now if its 110kms they will do 130kms and still get a ticket and still crash all over the place but it will just be more frequent

Long overdue. The QEW speed limit from Hamilton to Niagara Falls has been 110km for years - no problems. It’s not speed that causes problems, it’s speed differential (the difference between the fastest and slowest driver speed). Work on slow/bad drivers!

Left lane = FAST lane(going over)
Right lane = Slow lane, (doing the limit or under.)
Until left lane hogging starts getting heavily enforced, nothing is going to change.
Left lane is not a fast lane but a passing lane. Even if there is not a single person in sight you still should move over to the right as per highway code. The issue is not speed, but a lack of basic road knowledge by most drivers. Once we all are on board with the correct driving habits we could one day have autobahn like highways.
Through law, you are only allowed to do the maximum in the left lane, you can't go over the speed limit.

Anyone that doesn't like it, should realize that 110kmh equal ls 68mph. New York State highway speed limit is 65MPH.

This week I was visiting Winnipeg and Edmonton where I saw 110 on the highway. You know what I didn't see? Speeding and aggressive driving like I do in Ontario. It's like night and day.... Everyone follows the rules in the prairies.
I drive really slow in the ultra fast lane, while people behind me are going insane.
Limit semi trucks on highway rush hours, and you dont have to worry about speed or traffic. Trucks dont need a speed limiter. 😂

Last thing Canadian roads need is a faster speed limit. People already drive 20kms over the speed limit and theres accidents left right and center now they will drive an extra 10or20kms more. Whatever the limit is people add on 20kms atleast so have fun

I've been driving on the 401 often and we never get up to 100km. I don't know whos able to drive that fast with constant gridlock due to construction so I don't see this as changing anything. And we got news of more construction in the 401 until 2025 end of year. This city is a joke
110 KM is giving the wrong message to many idiot drivers who were driving at 120+ before the increase to do 135+ after the increase...
The MTO and OPP need to focus on educating and encouraging drivers to develop better driving behavior and be more courteous to other drivers...

Something tells me that maybe they shouldn't allow it on the 401, too many accidents as it is. But whatever, half the time the 401 is a parking lot anyways so good luck even doing 80 on it.

If speed limits are going to raised over 100 k then better be more prepared for more stunt driving charges! For those who the speed limit should be 120 , there are too many that have issues changing lanes at 100 k merging on to the highway well below the minimal speed limit! With amount of volume of vehicles, trucks , and wanna be race car driver plus motorcycle jockeys weaving in and out lanes and traffic let's hope it none of them being rushed to a hospital! Or a woman or male constable knocking on any of their doors informing them that will not coming home EVER!

Still too slow. Most of the developed world is 120 to 140. In Germany, it's autobahn network is mostly all limitless. And we have some of the most widest and straight roads on the planet making it even more infuriating. It's a revenue generator.

Even at night there are people on the highway, less people but still people nonetheless. Even if there was not anyone around just drive at a reasonable speed. Driving really fast increases your chances of an accident which can injure you or end your life. Also what if someone who thought the cost was clear hits you on the highway when their stunt driving going really fast, how would you feel?

Do not generalize Canadians as passive about ridiculousness. Road safety is important. Going forty kilometers over the upcoming speed limit of 110 would be road racing/stunt driving whatever. 110+40=150, 150 kilometers. Most people do not go that fast and for those few that do chances are you are racing or stunt driving which puts other drivers at risk of great bodily harm or death when an accident occurs. Newtons third law of motion states that for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction.
A 110km/h speed limit is fine but pleeeease restrict tractor trailers to the far right lane and eliminate the snail races when they "pass" each other.

Speed limits are just cash grabs, good drivers just drive the speed that makes sense. This is just a common sense change because nobody really drives 100 km/h (traffic permitting) except for the ones who shouldn't have a license. They could have posted 120 km/h limits and the flow of traffic wouldn't change at all. This just moves the ticket structure so the police stop hassling people just trying to get to work or go home in a safe manner.
