  • I replace the yellowed passenger headlight on my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan in this video. It's not a tough job even though you do have to remove the bumper. The order ofnoperations would be the same for the driver side just FYI.
This headlight also fits 2011-2017 Dodge Grand Caravans and 2008-2016 Chrysler Town and Country.
This replacement headlight needed no modification for any of the stock bulbs to fit! I recommend this product!

Great video! Had experience with another type of vehicle where I had to drop the bumper also. Watching Shawn perform this gives me good confidence to tackle this myself. Thanks!

Do not change the unit too quickly if you have condensation in the headlight assembly for a Dodge Caravan, Town and Country, and perhaps other vehicles. First, check the four vent holes. There are two in the back of each unit. A "U' shaped tiny tube is connected to a 1/2" X 1/2" inch long male connection. Remove the tube and check the vent hole in each male connection. The vent hole is only about 1/8" wide, so make sure you fit the correct size tool. In my case, I used a pick to clean all four holes. After I cleaned the holes, my light assemblies started eliminating condensation in real-time with the headlights on!
Also, after-market auto suppliers have kits to help you clean up headlight assemblies that have become dull and unclear. Years ago, I bought a kit that helped polish up my son's lights and made them clear for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new light assembly.
Note: If your car's light assembly has a puddle in the bottom of the fixture, you will most likely have to remove, fix, or replace it.
It took me about three hours to figure this out. I hope this helps other people save time and money.

I found it easier to just do a good cleaning of the yellowed lens than to take the bumper cover off. However, if you have cracks in the lens, this is a nice video for when you really do need to change that headlight housing. Thanks!!

@Mickster Mouseter would you believe I'd already done a headlight restore on that headlight before? It looked good for a couple years then went yellow again. Hopefully this new headlight will last another 10 years before getting too bad! Thanks for checking in and for the comment!

@Shawn Martin are there 4 total bulb for the assembly? Great video but one part I would have liked to see is the bulb replacement. Thanks for doing the video 👍🏻

@Eric Johnson around 9:30 I show where all 4 bulbs were located in the old headlight housing. Hope that helps! You're welcome!

Yeah seems like a big job until you get started. Was surprised how little hardware there is holding all that facia on and of course on any older vehicle, half of the plastic connectors are already broken.
One more thing to note. On my new headlights the light diffuser on the main beam is actually made with a ball joint at the base to allow it to be adjusted. Mine were actually crazy cockeyed and i didnt notice until just before i reattached the bumper, DOH! Wish there was a way to attach a photo showing this.

@tmoy1 that's a nice feature you can make adjustments, and yeah those plastic clips get brittle over time. When I worked in a body shop as a dismantler part time in college we always had new clips on hand before starting the job! Thanks for the comment!

@@EricJJ yes. Places like Autozone have packs of body clips, and Amazon does as well.

Do the headlights require adjustments after to level off? One light beam
    seems higher than the other.

    • @ShawnMartinNCBIRDMAN
      @ShawnMartinNCBIRDMAN  2 года назад

@Stevensly I put the adjustment back to the place it was on the stock headlight as I showed in rhe video then drove up to our garage door at night and looked at the level and they were spot on and evenly spaced. I didn't make any adjustments but there is an adjustment in the amount of slop there is in the front holes as I show in the video. Hope that helps!

@@ShawnMartinNCBIRDMAN Thanks, Shawn, it looks like i'll have to take the bumper off again to access the 3 bolts holding the headlight :-(

@@stevensly mam I think I noticed that when I did the video and made sure they were in the same grooves as the previous headlight before putting the bumper back on.

This is a ridiculous I didn't know I had to do body work to get the headlights replaced the only thing I don't need to do is respray the entire van

@Dayne B it's not as bad as a lot of other vehicles. Most are building them where you have to take the bumper off to pull headlights now. Thanks for the comment.
