  • It doesn't sound like there is a big trade market for Brandon Ingram right now. Jake Madison says that it could be in Ingram's best interest to take a team-friendly extension with the New Orleans Pelicans. Plus, the Pels signed center Daniel Theis, Jake breaks down what he brings to the team. And expect more tanking team, and thus more trades in the future.

Would love to keep Ingram at around 40mil a year. I know he thinks he deserves the max but the pelicans are so close to competing for a long time with him on board. Worse case let him play it out for one year. I'm hoping winning makes him happy and he stays. The theis signing makes so much sense on so many levels. Shot blocking, shooting, hustle, and movement without the ball. These are things our center should be doing. I've seen Miami roll the ball out with lebron and wade with birdman at center. We don't need a all star center, we just need what theis brings. I rather pay Ingram and roll theis and Messi at center. We have plenty of scoring already we just need our centers to play their roles. This is a very very good pickup so stop worrying about the center position and focus on resigning Ingram to a decent contract. There are not many teams that can roll out four 20ppg starters, we have a great chance to do this. No center available is worth Ingram's value. Unless you are getting a myles turner or markkanen. It's pointless to move Ingram for Jarret Allen or any center that can't shoot three ball. The perfect pelicans center is porzhingis but he is locked up. Again we have an opportunity to have a big four, I rather see that play out then getting a nonsense center like Allen.

@@GewSpeaks what Kool aid? Again I said we just need a center who hustles, gets rebounds, block a few shots and make some middies if he is open. We got one ball and four 20ppg scorers. No need to worry about the center position right now. You are asking for a center who is unaffordable at the moment. Let the season play out and see if anyone will dump their center after a slow start. Yes we won't have a big center but we also rolling out a team that will run on nitrous with a four headed monster

@@shirleydouglass4399 Yeah, I was thinking $40-50/2 years, or $20-25 a year. It seems that David Griffin is finding out what Dale Demps came to realize; It's easier to hold on to your starting Center when you're against the cap, than it is to find another starting Center to replace him.
If I'm understanding Jake correctly, and I think I am, there is very little trade market for Brandon Ingram that will bring back a starting caliber center. A trade of BI and his $36mil contract, has to match other contracts close to that amount. Problem is, there are extremely few NBA centers in the $33 - $39 mil range. Only two really, Ayton and Adabayo.
The other problem with Brandon's contract is that it ends this season. Not many teams are paying non-All-stars above that amount. But that's what BI is going to be expecting. Good news is that the Pels have another player in the same dollar range.
While Brandon is currently making $36mil this season, and looking for the highest bidder next season, CJ is making $33mil, and his contract goes DOWN to $30mil the following season.
Portland is a team that is in tank-mode, and it would be great PR to let CJ finish his career back where he started it, and raised his family.
    CJ for Ayton, done deal!

Just throwing this out there, but I could make a good case to Locked-On for Jake Madison to receive less money as a Locked-On Pelicans host. Yes he works hard and is one of the best in the Locked-On NBA circuit, but he does a lot of things that don't make me or some of his other fans happy. Yes he still has great skills and always gives 💯, and yes he is a super experienced vet despite his young age, but he just doesn't deliver the way I want him to deliver. But if he takes less money to continue being the host of Locked-On Pelicans, I could be on board with keeping him.

A team/player friendly contract is a two-year max. extension, last year player option but guaranteed for a minimum amount, like $1M. Win-win situation.
That way the Pelicans can trade him during the deadline and the team trading for him won't be in a risk of losing Ingram next summer. Plus his next team will have a 1,5 season to evaluate him and simply waive him if they don't like what they see.
On the other hand, Ingram will have the opportunity to prove himself and secure a potential 35% of the cap max. contract, starting at $55M.

Taking $40-$45 million vs potentially getting squeezed to a 1-2 yr deal at $25 million is a risk. 3. The new CBA has made trading hard. Teams that are above the 1st apron can't aggregate contracts to match a players contract. They need to match 1-on-1 (a player for a player) and there aren't a lot of teams that have a $36M. contract to trade.

He's caught in no man's land between max contract star players and role players. It's obvious from the lack of interest by teams like the Kings, Hawks and Cleveland that all had apparent holes for a scoring small forward that nobody views him as anything close to a max contract player. He would be more valuable if he was better shooting 3's and playing off the ball. I think he's a lesser but younger DeMar DeRozen, and DeRozen just got 3 years for $74 million. If I was the Pelicans I'd let Ingram play out his contract before I'd extend him at $35-$40 million a year. @@Don-md6wn It's not that there isn't interest for Ingram, it's the fact that the new CBA has made trading difficult, especially for teams that are above or close to the 1st apron. Ingram would had been traded by now, under the old CBA rules.
For exampe, under the old CBA, the Heat could have traded Herro for Ingram, straight up. Now, they need to get below the 1st apron which means they need to find a team to dump Rozier's contract. Of course the 3rd team would want assets, plus the assets to get Ingram, plus the fact that there aren't many teams to absorb Rozier's $25M. and that's why it's nearly impossible to get the trade done.

like how can this guy say we should extend Brandon ingram, at this point i cant watch this guy anymore, we don't have a starting center with no money to sign one, Brandon has to go for a center but the pelicans value Brandon more than he's worth and that's why a trade hasn't happened

Which center? Everyone keeps saying this but can't give a name. Allen from Cleveland is off the table. If we trade Ingram for any old starting caliber center then what was the point of letting Jonas leave?

Pelicans never said they were trying to trade him they said they would love Brandon too be here so stop 8:39 listen to the scenarios, but that’s all it is pelicans haven’t said shit

@@marcust-kq4cvIf they seriously want Allen, they should make an offer that the Cav cannot reject. For example, BI+3 first round pick for Allen and LeVert. In this case, the Pel get their center and the Cav won't lose even if BI gone after one season.

@@ocyik88 there is no such thing as a unrejectable trade. The Cavs just made the semis and may believe that their core 4 is championship quality, especially since 2 of them haven't reached their prime and the other 2 are in the beginnings of theirs. The Pels interest in Allen is well known. We don't know what has been offered

@@ocyik88 Obviously nobody in the NBA thinks BI is a max contract player, and it appears nobody wants Ingram for one season at $36 million because he doesn't space the floor and needs the ball in his hands. He's a lesser, younger, and less durable DeMar DeRozen, and DeRozen just got $74 million for 3 years as a UFA. A "team friendly" deal for the Pelicans shouldn't be more than that.

No one is lining up to give him a contract because Brandon has only average 57 games each season, he plays no defense, and he expects a max contract. Why would anyone give him what he wants when he's NOT reliable.....at all? Why?

    • @Don-md6wn
      @Don-md6wn 12 дней назад +1

He also needs the ball in his hands and has a mid range heavy offensive game, which doesn't fit with most teams that have their #1 wing or guard as the primary ball handler. He doesn't spread the floor which is what most teams are looking for.
