The thing is, this is exactly how he looked in the G-League: bouncy, fast up and down the floor, a nice stroke out to the arc and some decent rim protection. I'm not going to overreact now, but I was sure he was a guy who could give 10-15 minutes a night in the NBA. I'm still sure about that. And we can hope for more. But I still think the Pels will do a late deal for another big...
Karlo's development has been pretty well up to this point and I think he should be in contention for the starting Center spot with Theis. Karlo is everything the Pels could want and need at the Center position.
I think so too. The outside NBA world will dog on us but CJ and BI off the bench still getting 30 minutes a night for both of them would be lethal. I just don't think CJ and especially BI would want to come off the bench

I think it was Charles Barkley who said he's never seen an athlete get better at something the less he does it! Karlo Matkovic has been with the Pelicans organization for a couple of years or so now. It is their job to develop him as a player. He can't get better and NBA ready if they don't let him play against NBA level competition. He's got the size, agility, foot work, and skills to at least help space the floor and make the easy shots that he will get. They don't need him to be a superstar. He just needs to pull defenders out, make open shots, play defense, & contribute.

Matkovik got athletism and passes well and has good shot selection. Now he just got to be able to hit 3s, get a 2 man game down with Z, and get his defensive timing down for us to be successful next season.
Karlo is what used to be referred to as a Draft and stash. Jokic was a draft and stash, not saying he will become Jokic at all but teams like getting young Euro guys in the second round, and bringing them over to develop. He checks the boxes for what they want in a big man for cheap. He has prototypical size 6-10
Matk moves well!! Hustles, good positioning, a bit of shooting and passing. What we want from him is energy and aggression off the ball. Setting picks, boxing out, help D. Hoping his floor is a bigger Larry Nance for the Pels
Jordan Hawkins is a off ball player he plays better with the Stars he plays better when you can spread the floor there's nobody that can dominate the paint that can kick out to him in summer league Zion takes a lot of pressure off of Jordan Hawkins and gives him those wide open attempts they don't do that in summer league they have no one
@@RVictory777 they trying to transform his game into a facilitating guard but that's never been his game he's always been a Ray Allen type guard he's mainly a catching shoot Klay Thompson type guard for you to see the best Jordan Hawkins you have to have a dominating penetrating player and this summer league team don't have that because nobody is getting wide open shots these players are getting smothered in summer league
He certainly isn't a point guard. He doesn't look confident off the dribble at all. I think the Pelicans should know his roll going forward - catch and shoot and hope he can play better defense. But forget playing the point and running the offense for now. . Now I understand why he was speculated to be included in trade talks.
Karlo has improved every year since we drafted him. He has done a lot overseas and I think he can win the starting spot in camp. I think he will still be playing around 20-25 min a night. For signing guys I think we will just sign Reeves to the 2nd round exceptions. Either the 3 year at 1.7 or 4 year starting at 2. A vet min will be around $3M. I don’t see us signing a guy like Walker as he will want guaranteed playing time which will take min away from Hawk.
A thing with signing Lonnie Walker is that Coach Green gets stuck on vets instead of developing young talent. Green would probably give those minutes to Lonnie instead of developing Hawkins

In Hayes defense he did have 3 coaches in as many years let’s not forget griffin has to be consistent with the players in what are they learning every year we either have a new offense last year it was coach borega matkovic could be good but let him learn a system and develop
