I think they did learn a lesson though - better to wait until it's ready and take some heat for it vs release it ASAP before the bugs are worked out. But yeah, pre-ordering is risky business.

I have the SSF kit on my machine and it is great with stock tables, not so much with OTG currently. I haven't had a chance to try with the new update, but I am hopeful something can be done because when it works it seriously does improve the feeling of authenticity. Addams Family after a quick round post update seems to be playing more like the Pinball FX version; faster, less floaty, and the flipper lag definitely feels improved. Only playing Pinball FX, FX3 and M on OTG so far and this 4k table blows away the old ALP! Even at 60hz everything is incredible!

I love the Legends pinball 4K, but really mostly because it is a great platform for VPX. The new screens are a big improvement. They did improve the lag on Adamms family. Unfortunately I never really loved that game. I am still waiting for the table packs.
Yeah, that's my dirty secret - I'm not a super fan of ADDAMS FAMILY. Don't get me wrong, I understand why some people love it, and why it's in a lot of people's top 10, but it is more of a "real good" title for me. I'm WAY more excited to see how some of those older Gottlieb tables play.

I'm an oldster, so my favorite tables tend to be from the 70's and 80's, although I also love many of the great Bally/Williams tables of the 90's like Medieval Madness, Attack From Mars, Monster Bash, etc. Many more modern tables have too much to do for my taste. Give me some targets, some ramps, a spinner and nice long ball runs.
What's funny is that the best modern tables essentially replicate earlier gen tables but have deeper modes. So many awesome tables have yet to be done outside of VPX - CENTAUR, ALIEN STAR, T2, FLASH GORDON, FLASH, FATHOM - come to mind. I love me some spinners - speaking of which, we to see METEOR too!

That's absolutely true. But some of these games truly stand the test of time; will be played (in some form) for generations to come. A1up - if they are going to stay relevant - is going to have add games to their cabs; rely less on pure nostalgia and a bit more on play value. They need to feed that right balance.
Us older guys that actually lived (and played) through the golden age of arcades may be a dwindling demographic, but we are at least at the time in our lives when we have a little disposable income! But your point is well taken, and I don't know what they can do to change it.
They need to change the cab to the HS-5 form factor but they won’t. It could be vaporware like the AvP leak they cancelled after the negative feedback. Right now they are leaking stuff just to gauge reaction to whether or not to move forward. Their marketing team really has no clue right now and has cold feet.
I'm guessing it was a real mistake, because Disney with involved it's a real bad look (ie - not something that strikes me as Disney being OK with as a tactic, either for marketing or research). I'm guessing we'll know in 9-10 days as we enter into March, but either way it's an indication of just how slow things are right now from A1up.

Saw the AtGames 4k presentation deck that only showed a handful of Zen tables (Star Trek x2, Twilight Zone, and Godzilla/Kong) that will get a release calendar in March. I really was expecting more from the Zen partnership. Dying to drop money for some Star Wars and Marvel tables. What hope do you have for these tables hitting for the 4k in 2024?
You gotta remember that Zen has to adjust/re-program everyone of those tables to get them work right on the ALP 4K - neither Zen or AG wants another ADDAMS FAMILY-type misstep. I wonder about ever getting STAR WARS or MARVEL-themed tables, as it appears that A1up is still making both (while ATTACK FROM MARS went on a fire sale at BestBuy). In other words, we might get the tables for download, but maybe not the physical pins - but that is a complete guess.
Very good Lon - short & sweet! I won't say that I don't pre-order, but I don't it very often. I will say this - I don't think we'll see that pin that cheap for a long time to come, so if those early adopters can stay patient, I think they will end up with a very good deal.

I don't often pre-order, but I did this time because of the price. For the pre-order price the LP 4K is a very good value. And it works well for a pre-order of gen 1 of a device.

Hey JDV, I doubt this will happen. Disney owns the IP I think, and with Disney just dropping news about their NEW series with the same day, like you said. If anything, I think it may have been a proposal design. But otherwise, vaporware is my vote.
One reason why it may be real is that it had a listed price ($499). I don't think the other vapor-ware cabs (like AvP) had a price listed on the sheet. But if it isn't announced, it's a catastrophically bad sign for A1up - it means big box stores rejected their Disney-related product; one linked to a new (and likely successful) show.
Anyone have a chance to test these new firmware upgrades out? Have any interest at all in the rumored X-Men '97 cab?
It's still taking Atgames forever to get these tables out. We all really did a very premature pre-order.
