@alex b heya! The ESC that comes with the car is a 2 in 1 ESC/receiver combo. That means if you add a new receiver, you will have to add a new brushless ESC to operate the motor. You can rewire the combo unit, but it's a daunting task and much simpler to just replace the ESC entirely. A 2s/3s 35amp ESC will work just fine for around $20-25cad. Hope that helps!
@alex b unless you have a transmitter with a 3rd channel and a switch for all the functions, it's a complicated process. What you can do easier is have them on all the time. You need to crimp the ends with a JR connector and go directly to the ESC. The wire colours are off from what is considered normal. The black wire is positive so it goes in the center. Yellow = white and Red = halo. Those can be plugged on either side of the black. Hope that helps!
@alex b 💯%. I ran a 3s through it too, but your mileage may very. Going from 2s to 3s can be a gamble on any 2in1 combo.

Oh, those ESCs are terrible.!!!
I fitted one to a little ZD Racing DTK16 & it burned up on like the 3rd pack.
Shame because Surpass KK & Rocket motors are pretty sweet.!
I've got loads in sizes from about 2840 to 4292 & they do good work.!!!

Thx man, good to hear from you! Kinda using a mix of adobe suites and random apps. Haven’t found one I really like yet. Getting a new action cam today and hopefully a new pc this week to kick it up a notch

No sir, I've hit puddles and the ESC cuts out. I will say though that once you dry it out again with high heat, they come back to life. But I'd stay away from water if at all possible 👍
Dude existing ESC is 25 amp no heat sink and car comes slow discharge lithium ions .. wtf u think put big motor big high kv motor .. high kv draws way more amps then use lipo .. first thing car needs is oil shocks not big motor ...
