    I have been thinking here recently... Borg vs Flood, who wins?

    • @Blueknightsoul84
      @Blueknightsoul84 2 года назад +23

      The flood might be like species 8472. Depends if the borg could assimilate them.

    • @spartan078ben
      @spartan078ben 2 года назад +8

      The flood is like a completely organic version of Borg

    • @aethertech
      @aethertech 2 года назад +20

      I think in this case, the Flood wins. The borg excel at taking over sentient biomass, and technology. The flood is neither of those things that the borg like to deal with. And as another person points out - there exist biologicals that are resistant to the Borg (namely 8472.) The question is - is the flood? And I would say yes. Given both the Forerunnners, and Pre-History Technologically Ascendant humanity weren't able to deal with the flood with any known conventional methods. Only depriving the Flood of it's food source can slow it down.
      Additionally, we've seen the Flood is capable of 'infiltrating' and infecting technology. So...I think the Borg just loses this one.

    • @SymbioteMullet
      @SymbioteMullet 2 года назад +14

      The flood, hands down. The borg are mighty powerful, but can be beaten in open combat. The flood require galactic devestation to be defeated once they start snowballing.
      The flood can probably assimilate the borg more easily than the borg can assimilate the flood.

    Cube function Vs Sphere function
    My theory
    Spheres are long-range scout ships that search unexplored regions of space capturing and assimilating vessels to determine a species’ worthiness of assimilation. Once it has been determined that they are and their home planet has been discovered, a cube is sent to assimilate the homeworld.
    Cubes are dreadnought invasion-force ships that assimilate planets.

    I suppose it's unlikely to support a video because there aren't any pictures, but the Borg Sphere reminds me of the General Products Type 4 hull from Larry Niven's Known Space and Man-Kzin Wars serieses. The most important one of its type was the Long Shot.

      This being sci-fi, it would be easy to hand wave the explanation.
      "Oh, we've discovered that the borg incorporate a powerful defensive matrix into their cubes that their spheres don't have. It's called the Central Digit Projector, but the science team has taken to calling it 'The Middle Finger' for short.
      The middle finger projects a powerful shield slightly past its own edges, but unfortunately the design only works in the shape of a cube, so the borg make their ships in the shape of a cube as a result, with the middle finger formed around the outside"

    The Borg just nonchalantly using time travel is such a Pandoras Box off loopholes and crap. Like why don't they just send a sphere with the latest technology back in time 100 years to their own collective to boost its tech. Then just keep doing it over and over? It'd be like save scumming a 4x strategy game.
    Maybe the time cops would stop them? Didn't stop that sphere in First Contact.

    • @aralornwolf3140
      @aralornwolf3140 2 года назад +1

      That's the problem with time travel that most writers don't think about. It's also why time travel is almost strictly prohibited in writing.
      I watched a video about time travel methods a few years ago, all based on the consequences of said time travel.
      The type of time travel least likely to create problems is when time traveler goes back in time, an entire new time line begins and everything after their arrival completely changes their past. If a person goes forward in time, things change. When they go back to their past, they can, as long as they don't go past the moment they left for the future, yet their very return changes the future that they returned from. (Example: Marvel's End Game)
      The second version, is a single time line that has time travel take affect immediately... that there is no difference from going to the past nor the future, as all changes are taken into account and are changed retroactively throughout the timeline. (Example: Harry Potter, Back to the Future)
      The third version is that all changes in the timeline create a new time line, yet if one knows where the divergence is, they can travel between time lines. This "Fixes" the problems with second type, but it creates many other problems. (Example: Star Trek)
      Time paradoxes, and unforeseen continuity problems are magnified with the last two types compared to the first; but all are fraught with paradoxes.
      *Sigh* I butchered the video's explanation. I hope you understood what I attempted to communicate.
