i really rarely comment on any kind of YT videos, but your videos are just so informative, they´re so relaxing to watch, i could describe way more what i feel while watching it, but that doesn´t matter. it´s just so nice to see someone having such a heart for a game that deserves much more attention. keep up the good work, i´d love to see more videos of you.
Interesting to see that somebody has actually made some tests about that. Even before that i knew from few tries that legendaries are the best for dismantling but didn't know how much better they are compare to the rest of the items. There is one thing that i want to add. When you have access to high level areas (crusible + SR) you can farm high quality items but almost no materials. If you want to dismantle items you need dynamites. The easiest way to obtain dynamite is to craft it. To craft dynamite you need shards + scavenged plating (and one other component which is very common). Shards are easy to craft (3 crystals). If you go to warden lab for a 50 seconds or less you can farm at least 13 crystals (easy to do). Scavenged plating is also not hard to find if you are running dungeons and take your time to open every chest on the road. However all those actions take time which can be used to farm more legendaries instead of materials to craft dynamites to dismantle legendaries. Meanwhile you inventory space is a complete mess of different items which you think that you might use but they just rot in there... taking space... if you have any. Of course the option for trade is there but i feel that between gathering legendaies and then materials and sorting items i lose a lot of time. What i mean is that at some point you will have enough materials to craft things and you don't actually need a 1009240392 pieces of a particular rare material nor you will want to waste more time in farming materials to craft dynamite while you can just get a few more SR or Crucibles for more items. The situation is a bit different if you go and farm dungeons as you can obtain scavenged plating easier there and in one of them you can farm crystals too. Overall when i draw the line i spend more time crafting, breaking or sorting items then fighting monsters and sometimes i feel that i just want to sell all common legenaries in some of the in game vendors instead of doing all the other work.
The main reason I actually dismantle epics and legendaries is loss aversion: I know that, if I sell a purple or a blue that I have extra copies of, I dont get many more iron bits than from selling a green, and I lack enough storage capacity to keep all of them, so I dismantle them to avoid the feeling that Im losing an ancient heart or worse every time I take 3000 meager iron bits for selling a legendary. But if Im honest, if the storage system wasnt as much of an annoying clusterfuck I probably wouldnt dismantle, just store them up to gather dust just because of how annyoing it is to blow them up one by one and farm the dynamite for it. I spend a staggering ammount of time curating all of my rares and legendaries per class and wether or not I have too many copies of each; I know there is a mod for this, but running out of storage for items is so common I wish Crate faced it full force instead of letting an outside mod deal with it.
dude...you deserve so much more subscribers! great sense of humour, a lot of patience and passion for the game! love your attitude, keep on making this great content!
Moral: Only Dismantle if you have too much Shards/Dynamite, and only dismantle Legendarys. But this actually helps alot when you first start Hardcore. Every single Crafting Item you get for some useless Item you will never lose is better than the risk of dying while farming.
Thank you for effort and level of information put into your GD videos. I prefer dismantling legendaries rather than selling them though result is random its worth more than a few iron bits vendor offers.
@@MikeFic Can I ask you what do you think about loot from superbossses? (Mogdrogen Ravager Calagadra) and what is your favourite and most despised zone or quest? Have a nice day.

Always dismantle unneeded legendaries (epics you can sell). You get far more than just selling them. And if you have trouble getting enough dynamite - just plan a route that goes through places that always spawn dynamites/aether shards and you're set.
I think I'm going to make a video soon about hand farming dynamite versus crafting dynamite. Which is more lucrative? But I'm not sure yet. But I agree, if you got the dynamite then dismantling is the way to go.
@@MikeFic Im finding with high level characters its simpler just to hand craft it. Aether crystals are easy to farm and to turn into shards, and if you usually get enough scrap plate and fire gems to craft the dynamite you need.
I've recently got back into GD and got my character to the point where he can kill Lokarr on ultimate, and farm to wave 130 on Gladiator Crucible but ended up with so many duplicate epic and legendary items. I've used Grim Internals, but don't any more, but still use Item Assistant. I tend to keep two of each one handed weapon in case I want to to make a dual wield build with them but pretty much everything else I keep the most decent rolled epic and legendary and dismantle everything else.
Any level, permitted you have the items to transmute and money. But if you end up transmuting a level 75 legendary set you might end up replacing it at 94+ anyway with a mythical set just FYI. Also sorry for the late response.
I dismantle most of blues. Only 1 of each kind is stashed for twinks. At one point i did a notice while i was dismantling a bit over 100 blues in one session = around 30 rare materials. Thats worth it. Next patch will alter blues i read.
I dont. I sit at around 300 dynamites and aprox 12 mules full of epics and legendaries. I dont use addon or any kind of utility tool to store items. (seperate mule for rings, shoulders, belt..etc) I keep 2 of the best legs of each that i find, the rest i mostly vendor. Money is worth more than the mats i get from this. I rather just play the game more.
MikeFic Yeah, i know man. I've been playing both Titan Quest and Grim Dawn and i really like how a ton of loot is dropped every time. Also i like to see unique items equiped on the some random mobs that are about to drop them. Cool idea. But yeah, the value of the loot is not very high especially taking into account such utilities as Grim Stash (or TQ Vault in TQ). Just the fact that you can get any item for free without spending your time kills the motivation to farm. In all other aspects the game is brilliant though.
Partial components were removed from the game FYI as on patch 1.1.6. So the component yield should be much higher now.
Time to upload another video doing the exact same thing ;)

"why would anyone waste their time doing that,ok so i went ahead" i lost it by that point and burst out laughing.
For getting Epic items to dismantle:
You can craft some cheap ones at the blacksmith
my heart stops when i saw pandemic, thats that i aim to farm...
dismantle...
Haha sorry.
thanks for this, i will not dismantle anything unless im 100

hey your link to the Twitch channel doesn't work
Ty yeah the channel is twitch.tv/mikefic now
Sweet.. sweet.. Thunderfury reference.
Haha you noticed!
It can be fixed yeah. But i prefer selling them off at the forun for rare crafting materials or iron bits. As they can be sold more on the forum.
TL:DR
Just keep the legendaries, you'll usem them in an alt
For the amount of builds that there are you are bound to not use some of the items, and he did it with duplicates.
So what do you think, are we gonna have grim dawn2 sometime?

and a Partridge in a Pair tree!
you check the stuff in game that i dont have time to check myself

But I think now that you already get completed components it seems pretty Pog - (1.1.6.1)
Id totatlly dismantle darlet gnomewhaddasaying?

Dismantle items to craft pets and other items you need later on?
Sure. I would sell all yellow items though.
Ty you just saved me a ton of time lol
Only on my 2nd playthrough, but it seems obvious that dismantling is a waste of time
excelente video bro ;)
I don't do it much, because I don't think it's worth it. Ideally, epic and legendary items should always drop something rare and cool when dismantled.
Just scrap alone can produce decent starter gear
As long as epics doesnt give me substantially more iron bits, i go for dismantle.
Why not dismantle normal items - the white ones;p
Didn't even think to try that haha.
No offense but id rather trade them for something valuable than wasting dynamites
Doesn't look like it's worth it!
it takes too much dynamite to do it so I would say it's not worth it. :(
i just sell the junk lmao
That's good to
They should have made this game online. Farming doesn't make any sense here.
I like to farm FOR THE THRILL! But no I totally get it.
