Just got a modded 360 with 1992 games on it. I didn't know they had all these great Shooters. I just finished two that were on the list. Great so far. I thought my Dreamcast was king of the shooters. Thanks for the list.
I discovered your channel with the Saturn shmups video around the start of the month, and I have to say that these shmup lists have been brilliant to sit through. This has been the best one so far for me because I was somehow unaware of the existence of any X360 shmups other than Eschatos so this really felt like exploring uncharted territory. It also helps put M-Kai and Qute's decision to develop it exclusively for the system into context, as it had previously seemed to be incredibly random and unintelligible. I'm excited to see what lists you will do in the future!

I’ve really been enjoying your shmup lists. The amazing Sega Saturn and now this! Agreed with your #1 spot: Mushihimesama Futari (specifically the Black Label DLC) is my favorite shooter of all time. One criticism: I really think DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou and not DOJ should be number two on your list. Apparently 5pb just used Arika’s PS2 version and upscaled it for the 360 version of DOJ. As a result the game is kinda blurry and seems somewhat low effort. The extra’s are still cool and the controls are good, though. And I might be alone in thinking this, but DDP SDOJ is better than Resurrection. That’s just my preference, though. I’m still glad Resurrection made the list, I just think SDOJ should be higher than it. Oh! And I know the other comment was a joke, but Eschatos would have been a great inclusion, especially with the Judgement Silversword port. There’s so many amazing 360 shmups it’s tough to choose. Loved your list. Keep up the great work. I LOVE these shooter lists you’re doing. I hope you plan on doing more in the future. The PS1, PS2 and all the other consoles you mentioned in the intro!!

I looked into various alternative ways to play it again however I wasn't able to for this video. Even though I remember it being excellent, I never played it with a more critical eye so I didn't feel right about inserting it into the list. If I had a copy it probably would have ranked, but I can't say for sure until I get my hands on it again and break it down properly. I take pride in my lists and every single game I include is a game I've played enough to say its better (or worse) than its competition. There is absolutely some subjectivity there, but i try and make my rankings and reviews as objective as i can. Someday when I can get a hold of Saidaioujou again maybe I'll do a redux list or something lol. But yeah, the daioujou port is really half assed, but fundamentally the game is still amazing. And yes! There are plans to pretty much do one if these videos for every console that has at least 5 decent shmups on it. Sometime next year I have something special planned for two specific consoles that will be a VS/top 5 or 10 countdown. It'll be fairly ambitious so I don't know when it'll get posted, but I'll be working on it in the next few months or so.

I'm very picky with my shmups and my very favorite shmups are Mushi Hime Futari and Raden Fighters Aces (Jet). I will have to try Dai Ojou. Thank you for this awesome video! Espaludia didn't make it to the list huh. EspII I just bought on switch since my xbox 360 died.

But yeah, unless you track down a Japanese 360 playing them all on the 360 just isn't on option. I know you can mod the console, but I've never looked heavily into how practical this is.

It’s around 10 dollars each and honestly... I can’t recommend enough these two games... Impossible to stop play, once you have started. Glad to have most of them at my collection! 😊
Great channel, amazing you've only been doing this for less than a year. I just found you because I'm new to shmups and looking for where to start, I grabbed Zero Ranger on steam and got BTFO immediately but I guess that's how it goes in this genre lol.
Are Japanese Xbox 360s really that rare? I think I have one. I live in Taiwan, and I'm pretty sure the 360 I got here is NTSC-J. It's somewhat hacked such that it will play backup discs, but only if they're Japanese or Asian region. Even legit American 360 games won't boot. I usually buy Asian region games as they are usually in English with the option of Chinese subtitles, but I have a few Japanese games, some real and some backup, that also work just fine on my 360. Japanese games usually sell for cheaper in Taiwan since few people here can read/understand Japanese. Gen 7 games are really inexpensive here right now. My PS3 isn't hacked, but legit games often sell for around $10 or less. You can find 360s games for similar prices, though some less popular games with a cult following (many Shmups fall into this category) can get pricy, if you can even find them.
Having watched videos like these, singing the praises of the OG Xbox's shmups, I mentally extrapolated, incorrectly, 'well then the Xbox One should have just as many shmups. I'll buy that console'. Bzzzt! Wrong. Correct choice was PS4. Maybe one or two of these titles exist in the xbox shop. Bad for fighters too. BlazBlue is just Xbox Guilty Gear.
One thing worth mentioning is that the Xbox One & Series X are region free. An OG XB1 can be gotten for like $125 or less these days, which is probably a better solution for most people than anything else unless their 360 is already modded.
Not really, since most physical copies presented here are not backwards compatible, nor are they available for digital purchase (MuchiMuchi Pork as an example). They only work on the original 360, which is a damn shame…
I agree with your list except for one. DDP Dai-Ou-Jou is the worst one. The PS2 version loads faster. The developers had to apologize for how horrendous it was. The update to fix the issues still left the game broken on 360. Owning both versions I'm very disappointed in the 360 version

After I moved to Japan, I bought a 360 just for the shooters. Every shooter I've ever played on the console has been nothing short of bad ass.

Sadly only 4 titles from this list were released for PAL consoles.
