The days when publishers actually cared about their classic game re-releases. With tons of extras, Achievements, online play on occasion. Man, hoping we get to see more of it nowadays. The only good example I can safely say is great with arcade games on home consoles (by that I mean Switch and PS4 only as Xbox and PC don't have anything but the NEO GEO games because of reasons?) is the Arcade Archives series by Hamster Corp. They're really solid, basically perfect in every way. Hell, they get obscure games out there and include settings most times that you wouldn't even know about, like making Pac-Man harder at the start, or including visuals that would have been cut off by the screen. Now here's to hoping more companies either do more good collections or that they join forces with Hamster to have the games released there (as well as letting them come to Xbox and PC). Sega haven't done anything for a bit for their arcade games, and Midway and the games they own (theirs, Atari Games and William's) haven't been given some love in a while. I'd happily get a port of Defender on my Switch even for $8.

Has a bunch of other games in the collection too, but those are the only XBLA games on the disc and the rest of the collection apparently doesn’t work on XB1.
If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s an awesome interview with the creator of the Daytona USA soundtrack where he tells how he came up with the idea for the famous Daytona intro song. It’s extremely informative and well done.
Looking forward to seeing more of this XBLA series. As someone who grew up with the 360, I really liked the Arcade and a lot of the titles exclusive to it have stuck out in my mind even if I didn't play a lot of them or only tried the demos for them. Plus, given that the only way I could get money was through things like birthdays, I would always comb through the entire store to decide on which games I'd get whenever I got a gift card for the Xbox store.
The Simpsons Arcade was delisted not just because of licencing, but it was also because Konami wanted the arcade fighter Skullgirls delisted entirely because of a falling out between them and Reverge Labs, who would later be Lab Zero Games before imploding due to the sexual allegations against Mike Z, one of the people who worked on Skullgirls alongside Alex Ahad.
Lab Zero technically has a successor called Future Club now, most of the staff are former Lab Zero employees that left after the allegations against Mike Z. Future Club still continues to do updates and support for Skullgirls to this day
Konami are truly evil people. A once great company drowned in greed. I will never forget Metal Gear Survive or the inferior Silent Hill HD Collection where they pulled an Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut on it.
An excellent collection. I have a lot of these, through physical collections on the 360. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Midway Arcade Origins (which weirdly, doesn't have Paperboy even though their last-gen releases did) and Namco Museum. Also have Sonic the Fighters, Daytona USA, Fighting Vipers, Virtua Fighter 2 and a few not covered here, like Soul Calibur and Afterburner Climax. I played that one at a local Sega Gameworks when it was still around, and while my chair don't move like in the arcade :), it's still a blast to play, especially on my 43". Eagerly awaiting your sequel!
At 18:00 From what I've heard, the Metal Slug 3 version for the original Xbox has no slow down, making it the hardest version of Metal Slug 3 because you don't get the advantage of slowdown to dodge enemy projectiles
Pretty good video, it sucks that Capcom's Aliens Vs Predator and Punisher arcade games were never ported/remastered for Xbox 360. Their still not included in the Capcom Arcade collections.
Frogger has a weird glitch where sometimes when you press to hop your character only hops halfway and so you can get run over by cars in both lanes. If you're on the log that means you fall between them into the water remember he can't swim.
Great video! I never see the line up of wide game selection get mentioned all too much here on RUclips, so I can't wait to see the other two videos when they come out!
Integer Scaling was the term you were looking for when it comes to sharp scaling. Knowing the consistent output (regardless of the LCDs output scaling) the console does should allow at least integer scaled output, though it even today isn't always a given for pixel-art games, retro or otherwise lol. For 240p originals (many console games) it's easier, tho with arcade ports it can get squirrely.
Great vid! One super noteworthy thing about Sonic the Fighters HD is that it has 3 extra characters compared to previous releases. Metal Sonic and Dr. Robotnik are now playable in multiplayer and the unfinished cut character, Honey, was finished and added for play in all modes.
Daytona USA and other Sega arcade racing games are my favorites. I really wish Sega wakes up and port them to modern consoles and PC in a proper way, instead of us fans having to resort to emulation, which is wonky at times.
I knew about the Konami arcade ports. I still play them today on my Xbox One, though I don't own all of them. I think they are the definitive way to play those arcade games because the enhanced graphics really improve the games.
Great video as always! I grabbed some of the Sega Model 2 releases last year just in case they end up taking them down and they are great! Since then I've migrated more to using my laptop as my retro game hub and have all the Model 2 and 3 games there. I think the Earthworm Jim HD release is a pretty interesting one as well as the Mortal Kombat Kollection as I don't think they've officially released the older MK games since then. Either way, great stuff!
The best console for shmup enthusiasts of all time. Here's some other arcade ports released on the platform worth mentioning that this video doesn't cover: Triggerheart Exelica, KOF Sky Stage, Raystorm HD, and Cave's Guwange.
I recently got a 2 player fightstick & emulator and The Simpsons arcade game is by far my gf and my favorite game to play together. such a classic and so easy to pick up and play so matter who you are but you quickly see yourself progress and get farther and farther with less and less credits. there’s definitely a scene for arcade emulation but i feel like it deserves so much more shine with the amazing technology we have to run it now and how well these games hold up after all this time
A solid introduction. I would have included newer arcade titles like Afterburner Climax since they're rare in the wild, or faithful but dramatically enhanced arcade ports like King of Fighters UM... And I'm curious about that Raiden collection. But you never made any claims to be covering everything. I'm not sure how many videos it would even take to cover everything.
I would like for you to take a look at the Delisted... hub? Game Room, on 360. It mainly had atari games, but it basically allowed you to take the games you bought through it, and place them in your own personal arcade. Highscores were uploaded and all kinds of fun stuff. I remember having fun with that when I was younger.
I'm really excited to check that out, I've only heard of it recently. I was looking for a way to play Atari 2600 games on my 360, since there's no dedicated emulator for it.
15:00 - "Rebel Taxi's pretty cool" I was looking at my phone when he said that and it caught me offguard and I did a stupid laugh. Great humor as always.
The background for TMNT is actually part of the promo art made for the 2007 movie. I own a crappy platformer tie-in for PC that came bundled with a magasine and I strongly remember these images with the tribal patterns being used in-game and possibly during installation.
Having played all the namco, midway, and williams games you listed pre 2012, I don't think the 99 lives thing is something that came with the original download of the games. I think that might be a feature added with homebrew.
Relived that I bought all X-MEN arcade, TMNT1989, Simpsons, and Contra back when they released. I also have Double Dragon arcade that was de-listed long before any of these.
Some Arcade games i’d like to include which were removed are Ultimate MK3, Marvel Vs Capcom Origins, MvC2 and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD. To this day there is still no way to legitimately play them on modern consoles.
I refuse to retire my 360 because of all of the great games I have installed on it, some of which you simply can't get any more. Mostly some of the games from the indi marketplace that doesn't exist in any way any more, I always tried to find the good ones in a sea of trash and I managed to find a decent collection of good obscure games on there. Other than that I do have the original version of Scott Pilgrim which is slightly less special now that it's been re-released but I still think it's cool that I have the original. Also those ports of Doom and Doom 2 that were replaced with the modern ports we have today.
So sad that a lot of these have been unlisted. I've recently been playing Asteroids on PS1 that's been a lot of fun. The crazy graphical effects on the 360 with Evolved make me happy as a fan of the Geometry Wars series. Lots of good stuff here!
You can still kill the pterodactyls in later revisions of Joust, but it's extremely difficult, requiring a pixel-perfect collision with the mouth. The bug in the original release was that you could stand on the middle platform and pterodactyls would fly straight into your lance, allowing players to farm unlimited points (and lives) if the last remaining normal enemy had been captured by a lava troll.
I still really need to get around to having a hacked Xbox 360, so I could install these delisted games Edit: Also, I'm pretty happy that Sega still hasn't delisted Sonic The Fighters, so I bought it on Xbox 360 the other day. Legitimately one of the best ways to play it because of the added features, legitimately better than MAME in some ways
Haha that Time Pilot comment made me laugh given I play that one a lot. Had a Konami Arcade Collection for the GBA, played that one often. When I saw it available on Switch on Arcade Archives I got it.
You missed the D+D collection from capcom. 2 classic arcade conversions. And Pinball arcade had almost 50 tables before Farsight lost the Williams licence.
Wait.....The Simpsons Arcade and XMEN arcade was released on XBLA??!!! How did I miss that??? I got the TNMT arcade game. So I was aware of Konami's offerings to some degree. I clearly don't recall them releasing those titles! I would of been all over those! And now I can't buy them because they're delisted and not available in any modern compilations.... BUMMER!
The stand alone XBLA version of Sonic 3 it is impossible to play early stages as any super character because they removed the save file select screen they also removed the pressing start in 2 player on Gunstar heroes which took half the other players live to revive them feature.
Happy to say I have all these delisted on my modded 360. Yes it sucks everything’s on a time limit, such is life. I’m sure emulators will take over once the hardwares gone. I’ve been playing on it more than my series X. Audio on the Tron arcade port is pretty off and bad sounding though it plays fine. Nevermind you caught that.
It seems you've misunderstood. The arcade stick is a DPAD with buttons, essentially. The Pinball Arcade isn't incompatible on purpose, it doesn't work like that. I've mentioned which games the stick doesn't work for in regards to MAME machine planning, a dedicated stick setup can't play this one without a 360 controller.
shout-out to capcom arcade cabinet! ever since the next generation of systems afterward launched, I'd really been hoping capcom would revisit the concept with a new collection. thankfully since then they've given us two jam-packed Arcade Stadium releases which I'm pretty sure covers about everything originally included in CAC plus several more games like some choice cuts from the darkstalkers series!
I know why the Midway/Williams games are delisted because the Midway Arcade Collection had these games on there except Tron because that is a licensed game from Disney.

All of my favorite game i still have on my 360 !!!
Another masterpiece video! Kinda nice and funny to see when you hear Serious Sam soundtrack in these types of videos, lol.
5:16 EARLY CHILDHOOD!?
So sad that a lot of these have been unlisted. I've recently been playing Asteroids on PS1 that's been a lot of fun. The crazy graphical effects on the 360 with Evolved make me happy as a fan of the Geometry Wars series. Lots of good stuff here!
"TMNT 98"
I know what you meant but I still gotta mess with you. Great video as always.
Oops, yeah that's my bad.
Joust also was delisted for years and came back to the service years after.
Oh man, I have fond memories of Switchball and especially Marble Blast Ultra.
Was not expecting the Rebel Taxi shoutout.
I like how serious Sam 2 music fits to anything, but ss itself
I still remember the day castle crashers came out on xbla...I skipped school that day to play online with friend's lmao
I still really need to get around to having a hacked Xbox 360, so I could install these delisted games
Edit: Also, I'm pretty happy that Sega still hasn't delisted Sonic The Fighters, so I bought it on Xbox 360 the other day.
WOOOO YEAH BABY THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR
You missed the D+D collection from capcom. 2 classic arcade conversions. And Pinball arcade had almost 50 tables before Farsight lost the Williams licence.
Does anyone else hear him say "Rebel Taxi" when first talking about Crazy Taxi?
Do you have a copy of Snoopy: Flying Ace?
I'm one of the two hardcome fans of Time Pilot, it's cool.
Bad news, Daytona USA is getting delisted
i'm cryin' but i'm glad i got it last year when i did
Wait.....The Simpsons Arcade and XMEN arcade was released on XBLA??!!! How did I miss that???
I got the TNMT arcade game. So I was aware of Konami's offerings to some degree. I clearly don't recall them releasing those titles! I would of been all over those!
And now I can't buy them because they're delisted and not available in any modern compilations.... BUMMER!
The stand alone XBLA version of Sonic 3 it is impossible to play early stages as any super character because they removed the save file select screen they also removed the pressing start in 2 player on Gunstar heroes which took half the other players live to revive them feature.
that homer pic is terrifying also for reference the xbox 360 marketplace is still online via a computer browser unlike the ps3 store.
LMAO now I know that Framerater watches Rebel Taxi
Good to have you back ♥️
I see, had no idea one could get away with that
Yea I just got an ad for the “cowabunga” collection. That’s why they are delisted
Outrun 2! I know it's gone, but needs a mention.
Next time. 😀 To be honest I didn't even know that existed until now, but I do have OutRun Online Arcade installed.
@@FrameRater Ahaha, that's what I meant, I forget the proper names, need to dig out the 360!
If there is a part 2 would you talk about jetpack Refuelled?
There should be several parts, is that a regular XBLA game or related to arcades? If the former, not for some time.
@@FrameRater It's a remake of Ultimate Play The Game's Jetpac

🤣🤣
because kid, pinball machine were here way before video games arcade so yea, kinda love those funny moments 😅
I regret missing out on several delisted, but none quite so much as Double Dragon.
Xbox Live Arcade is the best thing in gaming IMO
Astropop is actually really good I highly recommend it
shout-out to capcom arcade cabinet! ever since the next generation of systems afterward launched, I'd really been hoping capcom would revisit the concept with a new collection. thankfully since then they've given us two jam-packed Arcade Stadium releases which I'm pretty sure covers about everything originally included in CAC plus several more games like some choice cuts from the darkstalkers series!
Tron Arcade was not a twin stick shooter. It had one joystick and a dial controller
Interesting, haven't played the original. Regarding the XBLA port, it's controlled with dual sticks.
I know why the Midway/Williams games are delisted because the Midway Arcade Collection had these games on there except Tron because that is a licensed game from Disney.
Surprised the delisted XBLA port of the Capcom Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game didn't get a mention-
Amazing video btw, tho!
I suppose I could look at it in the next round, but I know nothing about Jojo.
5:16
nice
You ask why the default image is strech its because of 4/3 tv a lot of people where still using tube tv when the 360 came around !!!
So was I, but I've recently tried Galaga XBLA on my CRT and it has the same ratio + wallpaper. Don't see why Tapper couldn't do the same.
While I can agree that Timepilot isn't a giant classic I do think its VERY underatted
looks intresting lots of favorite games here
Best video idea, this is exactly what I needed!
at 20:47 is that the NES version of 1942?
I believe it's the arcade original. 🙂
After watching your vid, I really want a Digital Eclipse and Back Bone T-shirt
Hmmm...I was unaware of a TMNT arcade game that came out in '98.
The X men game has a widescreen mode that doesn't stretches the image.
I'm still waiting for that tarboy game to come out on XBLA
Oh that Tron emulation was baaadddd
I keep my 360 hooked up to play X-Men and Simpsons arcade.
Most of the Sega vintage classic branded games like altered beast are available to purchase on Xbox one and series X.
