I mean His Lyrics is Still Dark tbh it's just hidden because if the Synthpop. He never changed. Just evolved his sound. I can even consider Faith as his Darkest Song it's just so fucked up
Again, it would make so much sense, if you listen to the Trilogy in order (starts with Track: High For This ). You just have to listen to the first 10 Tracks of Trilogy (equals the first Mixtape, which is called House of Balloons). Do not miss this opportunity :/ Track 11-20 equals the 2nd Mixtape (Thursday); Track 21-30 equals the 3rd Mixtape (Echoes of Silence)
@@MetalGuyReacts Plesee react to his first mixtape House Of Balloons followed by Thursday and Echos Of Silence 3 mixtapes in all total of 10 songs each mixtape. It's Weeknd SZN XOTWOD
Man, this song brings back memories. I remember listening to this when it first dropped ages ago. Fell in love with it almost immediately. Such a good song!
The Weeknd's shtick when he first came into the spotlight was the super heavy, blunt and simplistic lyricism packed into the songs. Trilogy, his first three mixtapes, really shows the dark side of a young man dealing with a lot of really messed up lifestyle choices and vices. It's sort of a journey beginning with the highs of a fast lifestyle, and ending with the inevitable lows. The whole project is an amazing listen front to back. I would love to see your reaction to it! EDIT: He was only 20 years old during the making of House of Balloons (mixtape #1), and 21 for the rest of Trilogy. Important to remember when listening to the intense subject matter.
Wicked games is The Weeknd's best song in my opinion,by far. I first listened to it in 2018 and it still gives me shivers to this day. I think he's the most talented singer/songwriter from his generation. It's no wonder he's the artist that first got me interested in the R&B genre,as I grew up mostly listening to metal music as well. Cheers!
I'm late to the party but I have to mention the shadow silhouette is indirect reference to a 1922 film Nasferatu. A silent horror film about Dracula. Also used in another vampire film starring Gary oldman and Keanu reeves.
House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls, Twenty eight, the birds pt.1 & 2, montreal, kiss land, the list goes on youve gotta listen to them all man hes a genius
Michael Jackson is a huge inspiration of the Weeknd. I'd be interested to see your reaction to some rock inspired MJ songs like Give in to Me or Dirty Diana! love your channel
After watching like 10 of your The Weeknd reaction videos, i gotta say, welcome to the xo fam. Every Weeknd song is a masterpiece on its own, and albums tell a cohesive story about him and the character he is creating. All of the albums are worth listening to. If you haven’t yet, check out his album Kiss Land, maybe react to Belong to the World, if you haven’t yet? Oh and definitely check his Superbowl performance! It was phenomenal!
If you have the time I would highly recommend you listening to his first three mix tapes that are combined together to form "Trilogy." There is an earlier EP before this but for starters Trilogy is probably the best place to start and progress through each record in order after that.
“High for this” and “what you need” would be very good to check out for songs that are like “wicked games”. Also “twenty eight” would be another great track to listen to. Great reaction and interpretation too!
I’m really enjoying your reactions to The Weeknd! You def have to listen to the Trilogy in its entirety. It will blow your mind the things he was singing about between the ages of 19-21 because that’s how young he was during those 3 mixtapes. As well how musically creative and In tuned he was, Trilogy created its own sub genre called Dark R&B and changed the R&B genre as we know it today. Keep it up man 🙌🏽
songs of this album that are like this are, The Fall, House of Balloons/Glass table Girls, Lonely Star, Coming Down, Here Comes the Sun, Initiation, Heaven or Las Vegas, High for this, Life of the party, Same old Song, Next, Montreal, The birds part 1 and 2, Valerie, D.D and practically any other song on the album
Just like others said already, it would be very appreciated if you do the Mixtapes and Songs in order. Just like every other project of him. Thanks, love ur reactions!
'Adaptation' is a bit similar- so simple, yet so genius, and this transition at the end ! god I love this ,my favourite from the kiss land album definitely
hey man! just been binging ur videos big time! love the channel and breakdowns. The weeknd (abel) is my all time favourite artist so this is awesome to see! just a heads up of his old music - a lot of it can be quite dark and he liked to explore this side of himself and sort of 'expose' it so he can see the mistakes he's making. Its a common theme across all his music about his past but just know that he does like to explore the darkness which is exactly the reason he grew so much because of how unique it is! Abel's a good guy, he's just had troubled pasts and delves into his character in his music.
Wow love your break downs dude just subscribed! I’m a HUGE fan of The Weeknd , you oughta check out a lot of his music from the kissland album (the under rated album) My particular favorites are pretty, tears In the rain, professional and the town. From various albums, I recommend faith, in the night and party monster! Good luck dude, hope to see this channel blow up!
This song is related to the illuminati as well. He says many things that gives it away but the obvious ones were the "Bring your body baby I can bring you fame" which means if you sell your body to the devil he will bring you fame and everything you ever wish for. Also the "Take you down another level, get you dancing with the devil" as soon as you sign the deal with him. just gives you chills thinking about that one FUCK
I love you reaction of the weeknd! He's such a gorgeous artist but, i don't know why, he's not known very well like Michael Jackson or Bruno Mars, so these video can help the people ti Discovery this Legend of the 10s
Tbh in a sense the Weeknds old stuff can easily be converted into he’s y metal.. it practically hits all the same notes and has a similar arrangement.. even his singing isn’t far off there literally was a band that turned a few of his songs to metal covers and they still slapped.. this is how I realised
Hey bro awesome reaction. What I am about to tell you is probably one of the best suggestions you'll hear. So do a reaction to The Weeknd's whole discography. Not only will it increase your subs, your channel views, but you will get hear some top quality music that you will absolutely love. Trust me bro, do it and you'll see how great of an artist The Weeknd truly is. Also instead of doing reaction for one song only, go through the album in one video, it'll be better for you and the viewers.
At this point, if you enjoy his music. Just react to it all 😁, ive seen channels like yours grow when they start reacting to the weeknd. The weeknds music is the top for me. His lyrics are mostly about his relationships with women and drugs, wich i have nothing against 😅 I feel so connected to his music! House of balloons/gtg is arguably his best song, i know many agree 😁 One more thing, during his early days he sampled all kinds of great songs
Really loving your weeknd reactions so glad I found your channel the way you look through the lyrics and try to understand what he's trying to tell us is great more reactor's just judge the voice or the way the singer looks 🙄 are very superficial and at the end just say "Subscribe" there's barely any dissection of the music lyrics video the art pls listen to Valerie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ there's parts he sounds like Michael and it's another song that hits you in the gut
You need to react to disturbed’s version of the sound of silence official video and live performance on Conan. Love them as a metal band and love David draimans voice and if you haven’t heard disturbed (guessing you have as your called metal guy reacts 😏), should review down with the sickness or ten thousand fists
I've listened to Wicked Games thousands of times over 10 years and it still never fails to give me goosebumps. My favourite song of all time.
love his older more dark stuff, much different feeling than the synthpop. The Hills is a must listen.
I mean His Lyrics is Still Dark tbh it's just hidden because if the Synthpop. He never changed. Just evolved his sound.

This is the song that got me into The Weeknd. Heard it on the radio and became a fan instantly.

You wouldn't believe that he was homeless when these songs came out
I heard.. it explains the rawness of these songs. Came from a dark place, so happy he’s getting the exposure and fame he deserves now.
I can believe it, a lot of artists are in dire straits financially in the beginning
How excatly did he make music while being homeless tho??
@@Viper0400 he was working with his friends in highschool?
i don't think so, he was sharing his house in toronto with his friends, that's why the album was called 'House Of Baloons'
“The knowing” that’s all I have to say. If you want insightful and emotional that’s the one.
yes.
Yeah man.
“Gone” is dope too
