For me, Kiss Land went from “this is weird” to “this is his best work” over many many listens. Many people that love Kiss Land had a similar experience.
kissland was the first album that got me into the weeknd, i forgot about it then when i came back to it i found out that it’s my favourite weeknd album
One of the most unbelievable albums ever. Every melody and line digs so deep into your brain overtime. I really recommend living with this album and keep listening! It's the biggest grower.
I own 5 copies of this album. I still remember the day it dropped it was almost 100 degrees in Chicago and I just sat at the beach and listened to it over and over. My girlfriend at the time hated me because I couldnt stop randomly singing "precious little diamond" 😅 Still my favorite album of all time
As a long time fan of The Weekend I appreciate that Molly is actually listening to the song . Every aspect . Not just listening to the song as face value but breaking down the concept of ea song and being able to go in depth about what exactly she likes about the song . Not only the lyrics but the sounds and appreciates the production and material w no bias. You have to have a real appreciation for music .
Kissland actually to be honest the best weeknd album including all emotions romance, lust, sad, happy, depression etc it will be good after many listens not like a single listen it grows on you with every listen you can try it
Kissland is truly such a special project. I'm actually happy that after getting signed he didn't straight up just switch up his sound but rather provided a continuation to the trilogy story while taking his sounds and production a level up.
The reason it felt the way it did in the beginning is because that the feeling he wanted to convey. He wrote this album while on tour in Japan. It being the first time he left Toronto. He wrote the town which is a metaphor for Toronto and giving it diamond rings or diamond albums. Which he has definitely done. He was uncertain and might I say afraid for leaving what was familiar. But as the album went in he started to realize it’s the same everywhere and began to show himself again. And ofc the end he returns to Toronto in Pretty and the end track telling us it’s pointless to fall in love given the life he now lives. Definitely takes more listens to appreciate this masterpiece.
Kiss Land is for me The Weeknd's best album and I think he won't be able to do better than this fantastic masterpiece. Whether in terms of the finesse of the writing, the spatiotemporal production, the avant-garde video clips in Japan, his incredible voice which reaches unheard notes.....At that moment The Weeknd was in a state of grace and Kiss Land is the kind of album that I could even listen to it again 50 years later and say that it hasn't aged because this album is so far ahead of its time. Professional is my favorite sound from this project and I easily count 3 or 4 Kissland songs being part of my top 10 of the best songs of The Weeknd's career, the consistency of sounds that Kissland flourishes is truly an experience of a parallel dimension in the discography of The Weeknd. Thank you for reacting to this magnificent album.
The way you cut songs is so good, doesnt sound like you skipped anything, great reaction and im sure it’ll grow on you because lyrically, this is probably his best album. Some poetry in there.
Fun fact: Kiss Land was the first single that was released for this album and also the first one after Trilogy. It was mind blowing on first listen but it also gave a wrong expectation for the album.
So i discovered the weeknd in 2014 and kissland in 2015 and since that time since the really first time i heard the album i fall in love with it i still don't understand why the ones who listen to the album at his realised time cuz it's just different from a lot of things
I hope you guys watched the Pretty music video. The video itself is cinematic and has a plot twist. I absolutely love his juxtaposition with his lyrics and what’s played out in the MV
So there’s a story behind the Machine Gun sample. Originally Portishead was credited, and his team approached them asking for permission. They said no so Abel and the team went back into the studio and re-recorded the drums on their own. That way, on a technicality, it wasn’t a sample but a rework. Strange stuff, don’t think we’ll ever hear the full version of what went down from either side. But from what has been revealed, it was a pretty heated situation.
The first time I listened to kiss land I DETESTED IT!! It actually put me off of Abel for almost a year, but now I feel like it's an all time top 10 album, and his best work till date, but in retrospect I think this is one such album where you'd have a different reaction and opinion about it when you listened to it as a teen or as a young adult,as opposed to when you listen to it as a full blown adult, and through every heartbreak, every despondent situation you face, would make you appreciate the album that much more. (Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers is one such album I think that goes on the same lines)
I always felt like After Hours is a more polished and refined Kiss Land. He has some similar production elements and lyrics but he gets to the point quicker and appeals more widely. Kiss land is still an amazing work of art. Kiss Land abandons song structure which i appreciate too
Yo, great reaction🔥🔥Also Molly is right because “love in the sky” did really feel short😂 I’m still awaiting a “Cole world, Sideline Story” Album reaction, so i hope that thats something yall would consider💯
Imo probably his 3rd or 4th best project, just behind After Hours and HOB. Really a toss up between Kiss Land, Star Boy, and EOS for that 3 spot. But imo his writing was at his best here. After Beauty Behind the Madness the verses and lyrics were a lot more simple and I don't think he's written stuff like this again, outside of spurts in After Hours. This is probably the most true "Weeknd" persona , or at least where he lays his roots, since a few albums later he mentions changing a bit. I really like his new albums just as much, but at least Dawn FM seemed a bit more over the top and in your face. I think Kiss Land kind of creepily sits in the back watching you.
Awesome reaction, especially for a super underrated album. I recommend listening to the wanderlust Pharrell remix in your own time if you haven't, completely different sound from the original and i honestly prefer it.
The Wanderlust remix with Pharrell from the deluxe edition is even better than the original. I remember Kiss Land getting polarizing reviews, especially after Beauty Behind the Madness catapulted him into super stardom. It's definitely much better in hindsight.
the weeknd is a huge cocteau twins fan and I can hear a lot of them in his music. what is your guys' fav cocteau twins song? mines is blue bell knoll or heaven or las vegas.
This is one of the greatest underrated albums of all time
Frr
@@invisibleradiantyeah glad that people are still reacting to this masterpiece

That's exactly what i felt, i took me a year to realize that this is his best work!

True I cried to Tears in the rain at the concert
kissland was the first album that got me into the weeknd, i forgot about it then when i came back to it i found out that it’s my favourite weeknd album
This couldn’t be truer!!!
Your edits and transitions are so clean and subtle that it doesn’t interrupt the flow of each track. I like that a lot. ❤
facts always perfect timing
Yo i was noticing that! Surprised more people aren’t commenting about that
The transition from Adaptation to Love in the Sky is truly amazing. Such a theatrical experience. My favourite Weeknd album for sure.
deserve more subscribers.
the quality is great. camera, vibe, chill space, voice, comments, etc..
My Favourite Weeknd album, sadly really overlooked but definetly the best sound of his on an full length project.
I don’t know, I like it too but to me beauty behind the madness is his most overlooked project
One of the most unbelievable albums ever. Every melody and line digs so deep into your brain overtime. I really recommend living with this album and keep listening! It's the biggest grower.
My favorite Weeknd album, first one I heard. The Town brings back so many memories.
the bridge on tears in the rain almost made me cry the first time i heard it 😢
Great video. My favorite album of all time right here.
The Weeknd’s most underrated album by far imo. Love the haunting, cinematic production & vibe all throughout
Kanye did sample Machine Gun by Portishead on the song FIELD TRIP on his latest album. You guys are spot on!
One of the greatest and underrated masterpieces by the GOAT!!!!! I love the reaction
I own 5 copies of this album. I still remember the day it dropped it was almost 100 degrees in Chicago and I just sat at the beach and listened to it over and over. My girlfriend at the time hated me because I couldnt stop randomly singing "precious little diamond" 😅 Still my favorite album of all time
You need to do after hours and dawn fm too before the new album drops to get the full experience of this new trilogy.
Exactly
Your girl's reaction is exactly what the weekend wanted lmao
you know an album is legendary when it has its own fanbase within the fanbase
Kiss Land is like you are in a twilight zone on the second half.
my favourite Weeknd project of all time! It's amazing! Thank you.
13:32 this part right.. the multiple voice layers is just everything
The intro to The Town is alluring and very intoxicating.
Kissland is his best album (after hours is close) and Tears In the Rain is his best songs..
Adaptation and Belong to the world are in his top 10 imo
SHE HAS NO RECOLLLLLECTION OF THE LIFE SHE WITHOUT ME
Adaptation is goated

This album was the start of my XO journey. Would be the first tour I saw him live. Was too amazing
The way you cut songs is so good, doesnt sound like you skipped anything, great reaction and im sure it’ll grow on you because lyrically, this is probably his best album. Some poetry in there.
*One of the greatest cinematic pieces of music ever created*
This is undoubtedly his most profoundly written album
Best The Weeknd Project
Just found this channel maybe 5 hours ago. Glad to be a part of the Weeknd journey.
They’re pretty dope. Welcome to a dope community!!
This album doesn’t get talked about enough. My favorite project from Abel
Fun fact: Kiss Land was the first single that was released for this album and also the first one after Trilogy. It was mind blowing on first listen but it also gave a wrong expectation for the album.

I hope you guys watched the Pretty music video. The video itself is cinematic and has a plot twist. I absolutely love his juxtaposition with his lyrics and what’s played out in the MV
halloween was a perfect time to cover this one! cool reaction!
This is in his top 3 work
The xylophone sound you hear in “Tears in the Rain” is an homage to Toto’s “Africa” which fits the title
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH

Second greatest album ever. Best RnB album ever.

BEST ALBUM EVER MADE
This album grew on me quite a bit!
Also "Tears in the Rain" has to be a Blade Runner reference.
God I love this album so much.

A good keyword to describe this album is “industrial” sounding
Awesome reaction, especially for a super underrated album. I recommend listening to the wanderlust Pharrell remix in your own time if you haven't, completely different sound from the original and i honestly prefer it.
Can't wait for Dawn FM and After Hours
Dawn FM is a 2.0 Kissland, my favourites are Wanderlust,Kissland and Tears in the rain
