Hi Jane What another fab vlog ..as always .. will try this recipe soon ...hope you are well...keep smiling, be happy ...love and best wishes Andrea and Martin Smith xxx
@@hedgecomber you’re very welcome. I gave the recipe a try with a couple personal tweaks. Swapped butter for coconut oil as I’m dairy free and the dates for blueberries because I forgot to buy dates😂 turned out fantastic for my first baking attempt since primary school cookery. This will really help put a dent in my evening over-snacking! Thank you so much for such a simple but tasty recipe, I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of your channel. 💚💚
OMG!!! I tried these out for my brother who is trying to eat healthy and omg i was so shocked they were so good! you can even tell they dont have sugar in them! thank you so much for sharing this recipe xxx
Good for you! Chop away on your wood counter top. Clean it down and even give it a sanding one in a while to get scratches out. People may frown but this rustic method is refreshing.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us all. I’ve got ripe bananas and I’m going to make some of these flapjacks. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too. Please stay safe and well too
I am really looking forward to trying this recipe; I have been looking for a 'healthy flapjack' recipe for years! I am so glad I found your website, thanks!
Hey Faye! Sorry you got rubbery flapjacks 😱 So, I'm thinking that it may be the banana that is giving you the rubbery vibe. Because we 'healthied' things up and took out ALL the added sugar & golden syrup, and then halved the butter, the texture is different than regular sweet, sticky, buttery flapjacks. However, if you are after that sweet, buttery kind of flapjack then this might be a better recipe for you (this is a KILLER recipe, just check out all those comments!) hedgecombers.com/the-best-flapjack-recipe-in-the-whole-wide-world-ever/ Hope that helps you on your way to flapjack nirvana Faye ❤
I'll bet those are tasty and all the ingredients I love. But honestly, I'm from eastern Canada and they aren't what we call flapjacks. They would be more like a version of date squares maybe, lol. Can't wait to try them.
@@hedgecomber No not what we call a pancake. A flapjack would be made out of yeast bread dough and dry fried on a cast iron stovetop. Bannock would be a baking powder dough dry-fried over an open fire. Dry-fried is no oil or butter is used in either for frying. Usually it is a rather slow cook. A pancake would be a sweet baking powder dough.
@@hedgecomber I make the all regularly and can give you quantities but I imagine you make them but call them something different. They are just recipes from the old folk. It is the cooking that makes them different, I guess.
Hmmmm, anything that will soften to a mush, and sweeten. How about apricots? Not the tough, chewy dry ones, but the soft lightly dried kind. You might have to mash them with a little hot water first? Oh, or mango? I bet mango would taste amazing **runs to kitchen... 😄
My bestie was totally freaked out by the banana mashing method I prefer. Are you?! 🤔🤣
Uhhhh yes! lololol But as my dear Granny would say, "Among them be it!"
@@GimmeADream 🤣🤣🤣 You can use a fork to mash GAD, promise I won't judge 🤣🤣🤣
@@hedgecomber I wouldn''t have thought not to use a fork, hahahahaha
@@GimmeADream Hahaha, you know you HAVE to make this recipe, and you HAVE to squidge it through your hands. Please, try it. It's weirdly satisfying 😂
@@hedgecomber hahahahaha You have made my day! GAD

They look good I'm going to make them 😁
Yes! My work here is done 😄
Very nice, they are on the list to try.. Where was the walk location Jane, looked stunning.. 😎
Good point, I forgot to mention it. It's called Golitha Falls, right on the very southern edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.
So, so beautiful 😊
They look very tasty. I miss Golitha Falls :(
Aww, next time you're down let's go for a wander 😊
how long can you keep them for?

What spices do you use ? And how many grams of oats ? ❤
Great but no information on amounts? How much oats etc, what degree for the oven?
The recipe is listed in the description box. Tap ‘more’ and then ‘more’ again in the drop down information.
what oats are used as i've just tried to make some and they have turend very squidgy/ rubbery. thanks

Yep, this is the English/European version of a flapjack. A flapjack to you guys is a pancake, right?

Yeah we like them :0)
They certainly didn't last long!
can you use different fruits
What's mixed spice? Sorry if that's a dumb question. 🙂
It’s sometimes called allspice, which consists of cinnamon, glove, nutmeg, pimento etc, they use in xmas cake
She does not say how long you have to put them in the oven for!😢
She said around 20 mins
Your 11 month baby can eat it if you make it glutten free oats and if you have him or her on solid foods.
Madam you have character. Very entertaining to listen to. I hardly ever hear the word ‘stodge’ these days. Nigella stand aside.
What about a video on homemade protein bars, oh c**p I meant to say Farm Tour video. :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Squares need to be twice as big!!!😂
Can my 11 month old eat this
Can I replace the dates with anything, can't stand the taste. xD

@@hedgecomber Mango is an excellent idea!
@@seth2854 Please let me know if it works out!
I used apple instead of dates it worked quite well. but I absolutely love the original recipe
Just made these and dissapointed. They are not the same texture as flapjack. They are more soft and rubbery.
I must admit we still loved them!
Use Rapeseed oil instead of butter.
The words you use make me feel sick 😷
