Hey @quantum, you might be able to block the updates by blocking the Samsung IP addresses at the router. I forget what the numbers are but I saw them on Reddit, blocked all the updates and ads they send!
Happened to me and never was on wifi. Was told from a comment that it was from my galaxy s24 ultra putting it on the TV. No clue what happened but im not happy either
OG here, on the S95b they had a separate Over the Air update option that you had to disable along with the network and auto update settings not sure if the same options exist on the S90d or not?
@ I think I have the original panel. I got mine for Black Friday of last year. After a recent update I have noticed diminished quality. It ABL is significantly more aggressive.
@@TheGhostofMississippiinteresting. I’ve been away from home and disconnected my TV from power. Since these videos are coming out about updates I’m assuming the update was this week? I’m guessing my tv hasn’t updated yet but that’s crazy if you’re really noticing diminished quality on the original s90c panel.
Updates are annoying in everything not just TVs. I have always felt that the quality drops on most products after updates. Last year I had the Sony 900 E and after the update it burnt out, which was annoying because I was still happy with it picture quality granted now I have a Sony X90L which is far superior, but I could’ve held on for a couple more years.
Was it worth getting into debt for the sake of owning 3 QD-OLEDs? You might buy a 4th one next year when the 2025 line up launches if it impresses you enough
I agree with many of the comments here. This fix has absolutely perfected this game. I never thought about using FSR 3 frame gen. Should have thought of that. Sharpness at 9 is perfect!
THANK YOU! I have the Samsung 690c and it is updated to 1200, still looks incredible! I went offline weeks ago because you mentioned "Scamsung nerfs older TV's before next year's model releases. I told my wife that about cellphones years ago. Just seemed like rampant slowdown and glitches for no reason. Thanks for the honesty, confirmed what I'd been thinking! Still have Samsung tech all over my house though! 🥴
I was about to buy a 90D. Now I'm put off entirely looking at what the update did to the depth of image. If I could gaurantee the firmware version what version would be the last acceptable version?
We recently got a S90D thatis on firmware 1201 and just disconnected from our wifi. I know when Samsung updates their phones they have tons of notes clarifying what has been changed. Since we use a 4k Firestick Max do the updates even matter to us? Thanks
My TV S90C was on 1310 which I liked and it auto updated to 1430 and it changed the UI and everything and I hate it so from that day I disconnected my TV from the internet and now no more updates I would have liked to have stayed on 1310 that was the smoothest one for me and it looked better in my opinion but lesson learnt
Thanks for sharing your concerns for those of us who just want a nice TV but not the hassle of online registrations and sharing personal financial information to get access to the advertised features. I purchased a Frame TV and it went back because of the registration hassle. Now hearing of a potential security concern I will never buy Samsung. I wonder how deep that rabbit hole must be.
Got the S90D offline on firmware 1120. How drastic is the difference? Are they 2 different televisions at this point? Would your new settings video still apply? Would consider restarting the membership
Honestly, the default should be to NEVER connect your TV to the internet from the moment you purchase it unless there something extremely broken that can be fixed with an update. Seriously if your TV is not bothering you in any way, there is no point. Use game consoles or media consoles for your watching 100% of the time. The TVs no matter how good or "smart" are always so slow and laggy even on TVs that are 3k to 5k in price.
Yup. Same thing happened on my Qm7 from TCL. 2024 model. Had auto updates turned off. Soon as I turned the TV off and on again.... "Please wait while we upgrade the software". This is a problem.
Wonder if you could have success getting the board replaced with the IEEE PROM chip in it? the prom chip holds your sets programming on it. That should be where your fw updates are stored I believe from what I’ve looked at…
I have the S95D 65” for you recommendations in picture quality and your settings for better image, (are very good), I still in 1201 software Tv, and I disconnect the WiFi in the TV, thanks for the advice, saludos desde Mexico.
@@yinahernandez3252 I'd never buy Samsung go for the tcl qled c655k they have different size tvs, never had any problems with my updates.. Great picture
The forced updates has been a thing since the s95b. Imagine paying a new Samsung TV that you cannot enjoy as a smart TV with its built in functionality.
I bought my Samsung s90d 65in on Black Friday 2024. I still haven't opened the box yet. I won't be connect my TV to the internet at all. I live in the USA in California by the way.
Yup, I’ve heard that using another device like you did makes the info flow faster than using the set direct. Faster communication and not using up memory to slow things down at the sets level…
no no. look at Luis Rossman. He has the most expensive LG and the same thing happens. All electronics need a snapshot to be able to go back to the past update is the user wish. All of them are doing it so it can be the industry standard so people cant go somewhere else.

Time for a classaction lawsuit!!
Not even being found guilty of embezzlement could stop samsung's ceo. What could a class action possible do😮💨
Hey @quantum, you might be able to block the updates by blocking the Samsung IP addresses at the router. I forget what the numbers are but I saw them on Reddit, blocked all the updates and ads they send!
They need to be sued in court.
This why I use a Nvidia Shield instead of the built in apps.
You're right, the Shield is a good way to bypass the Samsung update issues.
I use my Fire Stick for that! Best way to keep your fw in a decent level where the tv works
This is the way!
I wonder what else is really "on" while turned "off" microphones and cameras
This
I guess I’ll pay the extra money for Sony from now on or just go to Mini LED TCL
What is the issue of the new update?
Samsung is consistently nerfing their TVs
Samsung: "Merry Christmas! We nerfed your tv!"
Thanks bro! I'm still on 1201 and just deleted my network from the settings.
You had me scared, mines didn’t update yet. Going to take all the precautions now!
Glad to help you out brother. You're not gonna regret it!
@@Quantum_TV That’s such a dirty practice with Samsung. It’s no coincidence that this is happening right before the new models are announced.
