- Enheduanna is often described as the world's first poet - but who was she, really, and what do we know for certain? Dr. Sophus Helle joins Megan to talk about this enigmatic figure from history! Dr. Helle has a PhD in Comparative Literature from Aarhus University and an MA in Assyriology from the University of Copenhagen, and is an expert in Gilgamesh and Enheduanna. His website can be found here: sophushelle.com/
So cool!! I've added the upcoming book to my Christmas list :D
What a wonderfully informative and entertaining discussion! Hope to see Sophus again soon.
What an interesting discussion. Great to see such enthusiasm. Thanks.
It is a real pleasure to see people who enjoy their work and understand their topic. Also, Megan, I have been enjoying your podcasts with Dr. Ehrman. ❤❤
I just saw the exhibit on Enheduanna at the Morgan Library in New York. It was fascinating.
I think she did write them.
She'd already been elevated to her position in society, and something tells me that daddy of Akkad would've had the Akkadian Simon Cowell on hand to big up Enheduanna at the very least.
Can you imagine how high he'd wear his kilt?!
Can you find your dark Goddess in the Moonlight? She lives, she breathes, she receives, she gives and gives and gives.
Is research being conducted on the musical elements of Enheduanna's hymns? Rhythms? Sound effects? Melodic notation?
As far as I'm aware, there are no copies of the hymns with music or melodic notations.
Enheduanna’s hair? Are you telling me that there’s a chance we can one day have an Enheduanna clone? 😃
That's precisely what I was suggesting, but as the plot of a scifi story, not an actual research project XD
