Nice, Dude! Now you have 2 functioning Night Vision units that you got for a steal and they didn't even require replacement parts or anything! I wish I had the knowledge and skills you have, then I could get broke stuff too for a song and repair it! Heck I could have repairs a lot of items that died for no apparent reason when I owned them! Being able to repair the R/C Van my Dad bought me a long time ago would have been so spectacular! I loved that thing. it was so cool and a rare item too, there were only a few of them in Canada at the time, and it stopped working only minutes after beginning to use it, took it back only to find out that there were only a few units in the entire country and they are were sold and they "couldn't be repaired" which means they didn't know what was wrong with it. but that was a long time ago. Technology back then was far bulkier and more susceptible to breaking than it is today. What was required for that Van to operate could all fit into a small circuit now. the components were huge back then! LOL This was the early 80s when it happened. so yeah, a lot of advancement has happened since then.
Thanks 👍I repaired another one a few videos back, and ended up picking up two Bresser units for £10 each which look new (haven't looked at them yet). Shame about your little van. Super cool fix, lucky a easy issue of no power. Really clever 'nudge' to extend reach, wonder if plastic bottle piece used behind contact would work as well, tho, glue won't move. As to 'Fingers & Pointy things', No comment, pointy things will tell you. haha Love the Critters, Cheers!
I'm midway watching and I was thinking of adding a piece of aluminium foil folded up a couple of times into the battery compartment. I sometimes do that. Not sure if alufoil has any electrical resistance though.
Hello!!! do you think would be possible to DIY upgrade to this kind of binoculars by adding a Video Output?. Maybe hdmi or analog, doesn't matter. What do you think about? Thank you in advance,
Poking fingers with a sharp object is something you realize when you feel it, over and over again 😁. The same goes for burning fingers with the soldering iron🤣.
try having the iron fall off the workbench and instinctively catching it as it drops - by the hot end, in the palm (not a wise move) It took months for the marks to fade
@@miscbits6399 Hope you can laugh about it now. When I was a kid, I was facinated by melting solder. I took a "big" iron and started melting. The molten solder rolled off the table right on my foot where my socks kept it in place. That's how I learnt my first curse words 😁.

Hi, I do at times it depends on the items, but as you can imagine I get quite a number of requests! You can drop me an email at the channel's name at out look dot com.
The luck of the Irish! I hope it doesn't prevail during their game with Scotland! I would have built up a dry blob of hot glue behind that first battery component, so that, when you jammed it in, it was pushed forward by the rubber "bung". Well done again!
Nice easy fixes. You rely on your meter probes - in some situations with your life - so it's best not to use them as tyre levers ;-). The first set you looked at had obviously been apart from the outset - even without the improperly fitted front visor, the rubber plugs covering the two screws would have left the factory flush with the surface - not pushed to the bottom of the holes. As an aside, using Duracell batteries is a bit worrying from someone purporting to be a "techie". They are sold using misleading advertising, they are not as good power wise as many other (cheaper) brands, and possibly worst of all is that they're prone to leak, thus damaging equipment that other brands wouldn't. Duracell are banned in my household...
Thanks Will, I always thought Duracell were OK, not heard of power wise. I've seen devices with cheap batteries in them such as Kodak which are more like empty tubes weight wise, and leak as soon as you look at them.
@@BuyitFixit By "Power wise" I meant capacity 🙂. Apart from being comparatively poorly rated for capacity, the leakage issue stops me from using or recommending them. (Not even commented on their price!)

@Ethan_is_me I thought that's what you meant but I wasn't 100% it's all part of the same unit. It was a plastic lens and a rubber shroud, not sure if it's something you'd be able to get separately.
I am curious did someone inadvertently swap parts around as a repair attempt, and in doing so completely botched the two up ? I am asking because I would think the recording one would require a lot more energy, ergo the extra battery capacity.
It could be that one has a more powerful IR emitter as that the rest of the circuit would be pretty much the same apart from a few buttons and a SD slot.
