  • In this video, I go hiking along Derwent edge in the Peak District National Park. The weather was gorgeous so I pitch my tent for a spot of wild camping and relaxing. I decided not to talk in this video so all you were here are the sounds of hiking and camping. What they make all ASMR nowadays I hope you enjoy

What an epic video, I was mesmerized the whole time. Those rock formations were fantastic, the sunset was beautiful, the videography was sharp, for me it captured the essence of why we all go backpacking or wild camping as you call it on the other side of the pond. Good job Paul.

Though I love the narration, I would love more videos like this, Messner. This is somewhat closer to what camping must really be like for you, I imagine. I know this style ain't for everyone, but personally I hope you'll do more of these.

Well that was a bit different to the norm! Interesting & good to mix it up abit, but I think I’d miss Paul talking to us if every video was like this.
An observation on this style of tent. It looks like access was only to the one side. You might set it up to give good views at sunset in settled conditions, but if the weather turns nasty during the night, the wind and rain could be driving in from the side with the opening, which wouldn’t be so great, with the tent filling up like a parachute, rain getting everything wet inside, and making a morning brew a challenge. My tent has openings on either side and the vestibule on each side is two part so you can open up which ever quarter is not being hit directly by wind and rain. I think I prefer this design personally.

Agree. More so if cooking regularly in bad weather you're cooking downwind and a passing system moves which side that is. However I pack one meal no-cooking so can handle the change.

Nice spot, I nearly went up there last weekend. Instead I came off the Woodhead Pass and enjoyed a view towards the reservoir and the almost constant sound of the A628 way off in the distance - thankfully way off because I enjoyed a peaceful undisturbed sleep and not a soul about. There does seem to be many spots one can wild camp in the Peak District - I think next time I will head closer towards the reservoir and see if I can get up high to enjoy a view looking down, but at the same time try and get away from any road noise.

Paul have you ever thought about doing a video on CO2 levels inside tents and how it affects condensation? Take at look at the Aranet 4 CO2 monitor. It has Temperature and RH levels sensors too. Will blow your mind the levels of CO2 that can accumulate inside a tent and the effect it has on us. ATB Jason.
