If you are getting into the larger volumes, please save your money and buy box sets as they are by far the CHEAPEST in the long run. Don't pick up a few at a time unless you enjoy wasting money.
My strat every year has been to save up $100 a year ($50 for the Summer and $50 for Winter) and spending it on Crunchy Roll manga shop (previously Right Stuf) during their Summer & Winter sales to get $50 worth of manga at really discounted rates and to get the free shipping on each order.
I physically go out and get manga with my 30/60/90 rule. I pay $40/year to be a barnes and noble premium member and for every 10th purchase over $5 you get $10 store credit that stacks and everything is 10% off. So for me its a perfect deal.
Any series that has a box set that’s how you should buy it, it’s far cheaper, especially for series that have over 25 volumes. Always buy the box sets, like if you buy One Piece in singles it’ll cost you over $1,000, you can get the entire series for a little over $400 if you shop around for the box sets, I do often see them on sale.
I recommend the box sets for bulk series As for how much cheaper it is. Chainsaw man was 100 plus at local stores and Amazon sold it like $54 for 11 books. I just started collecting like 5 or 6 months ago and I would bulk buy at the local Barnes and noble every week and it got so overwhelming on just having a stack of manga and no time to read.. i agree with you on buying a few manga at a time. That's what I'm doing for now on unless a box set come out
Box set are the way to go especially if they are on sale but for the series that dont have box set i usually budget for so i can gather my favorite series
imma get all the Komi-San manga since it was the first manga i started reading in 2017, just waiting for a 40% on the net store that I buy my manga form! but great video for tips. Love from Norway!
Nice vid! I'm actually working on collecting the individual volumes of One Piece. I started my collection when I was in elementary school, so getting the individual volumes instead of the omnibus is important to me. I've been collecting other series along the way, so these tips were helpful for me getting my budgeting together. Keep up the good work!
That’s a terrible way to collect One Piece, it’s going to cost you double the amount, buy the box sets, it’s much cheaper. I have it complete, I just bought the 4 box sets.
Thank you for the comment! 😊 I do too with certain series like black clover but i made this video because its nice to budget out your haul so can save for bills or even more manga down line
Yep! I plan to get three volumes each for cardcaptor sakura clear card. I already have volumes 1, 2, 3 so my next purchase will be 4, 5, 6. Ialready bought a manga this month so got to wait a bit! I personally like getting omnibus' so that works for me too.
I love Fire Punch. I don't hear enough about it. I don't care for the ending it came out of nowhere to me, but all the others were great. People should definitely recommend it more. I love your tips. I think another tip is to compare prices if you have the patience to wait for an order to arrive. Like with books a million they have good manga sells online but not in store, so I'll place an order online and just pick it up I go to the store to make sure they have it, pick the books up myself and pay for it online and the worker doesn't have to do anything. I compare prices from Amazon, Crunchy Roll, Books a Million and Barnes and Noble
I agree with comparing prices for me i am a premium barnes and noble member and i get around 10% every purchase and every 10 books i buy i get $10 store credit and it stacks up pretty quickly lol and its only for $40/year and honestly thats the best deal to have and i recommend that too to save money.
I only buy what I like. I’m actually pretty new to graphic novels but so far I got Hellsing deluxe set, Akira boxset, Blame 1&2, Batman American comics omnibus, and I just got the full Dragon ball and DBZ box sets I’m waiting for!
If you don't care about having brand new volumes buying used from ebay, thrift stores, or facebook market place can save money. A lot of the times "used" is basically new but might have a scuff or two that aren't noticeable from 1 foot away and would have happened to the new volume over time anyway. Also be on the lookout for deals from bookstores / anime stores. Black friday isn't the only sale.
I was new to collecting only stared 1 year ago i have junji ito tomie uzamaki and longer human I have Vinland saga 13 books hellsing blade of the immortal vagabond death note black edition all Naruto box sets Tokyo Goul box set 1 and 2 and the monster editions the monster editions were so hard to obtain AOT colossal editions and neon genisis akira box set and Gantz and bleach all 3 boxsets and Jojo out to part 6 book 1 and so much more but I must say let’s just say its like Pokémon gotta catch them all😂😂
@@itzjustcj 😂😂 i saved so much money for them but I must say I couldn’t see myself collecting one piece but I see that Gantz is getting an deluxe edition so I’ll wait for them
Good recs and tips I'd like to add if your wanting to read a longer series but you got a tight budget try reading them from your public library it's how I started reading manga and when it comes to buying manga I try to only buy the first volume if I enjoy it I'll get the next volume
Highly recommend its my favorite new gen but if you watch the anime the animation isnt the best and asta yelling in the beginning only last 5 episodes but the manga is amazing and every chapter is a banger in my opinion 🔥🔥
@@itzjustcj alright will have to check it out mangas I've been enjoying recently are chainsaw man, yakaza reincarnation planing on trying level 1 demon lord & one room hero, land of the lustrous, spy x family (recently started the anime been enjoying it)
Thank you! and I had recommend Alice in Borderland cause other than chainsaw man and dandadan Alice was the one manga I couldn't put down even if i tried lol and your doing a great job buying 3 volumes at a time for one piece just keep taking it slow and you will catch up in no time!
@@itzjustcj I know what you mean about Alice in Borderland I had seen the show and started the reading the manga because of it, I ended up staying up all night reading it. Now I'm trying to find the physical copies
I think for me I want a definitive collection that I don’t mind re-reading multiple times. The rest I would read online and save money. My ideal collection would be 12 Shonen Manga series and 12 Non-Shonen. Shonen Dragon Ball/ Z / Super Bleach One Piece Naruto One Punch Man My Hero Academia Death Note Hunter X Hunter Black Clover Yu Yu Hakusho Jujutsu Kaisen Demon Slayer Non- Shonen Berserk Vinland Saga Vagabond I am a Hero Tri-Gun Full Metal Alchemist Junji Ito Dorohedoro Gantz Initial D Akira Battle Angel Alita
First off thats a stacked manga list right there 100% approve 👌🏾 Secondly the series i really enjoyed reading online i like to have physically because it hits differently when its in book form in my opinion but to save as much money as possible reading online is the best option
that's a nice tip I will use but tweaked a bit because where I live mangas are around 7-8€. But I think you should try to talk louder, put pages off the manga you recommend to show the art style or other stuff. And be more energetic on camera. I think that could improve the quality of your videos :D
Thank you! Im not too good with convergence and i didn't want to give out the wrong information in this video 😅 but i very much appreciate the advice and i will do my best 😁
If you can read italian then i dont see a problem but if its in english (or your prefered language) Then there is no problem with that either. Only if its damage thats where. The troubles lie lol
I dont blind pick as much either. I usually read the manga online to stay up to date and if i really like it i will pick up the physical copy to re read it. But i love when a manga series that i enjoy gets an anime.
Why do you do that? What does it matter if it has an anime? Are you saying you only read manga that you can’t watch the anime? I actually do the opposite, I only watch an anime after I’ve bought and read the manga. Reading the manga is always better than the anime.
The manga is longer but the live action shortened a few things both seasons but it wasnt anything too major they just focused on the mc more than the world in the live action and a 3rd season is coming out so idk if they will go off the manga til it comes out 😅
If you are getting into the larger volumes, please save your money and buy box sets as they are by far the CHEAPEST in the long run. Don't pick up a few at a time unless you enjoy wasting money.

most of the time 3 in 1s are the best deals for larger series

the box sets are your friend
Recently I've slowly been attempting to collect all of One Piece so I take about $20-$30 dollars from each paycheck and picking up 3 volumes.
Go with the box sets. Like €100-€150 for 23 volumes
