Is it me or does censorship usually accomplish the exact opposite of toning down a horrible scene? Being eaten alive by bugs for 24 hours and dying at last sounds much better than being mentally tortured with amnesia and imagery forever. Quite literally a never ending nightmare.
Exactly. In terms of how graphic it is the original is worse but imo being trapped in the shadow realm and enduring an eternity of isolation and mental torture is a far worse fate.
Although tbf it doesn’t seem so bad at first with the tropical island and what not haha

Ikr? I love the concept of the Virtual World and all but it would have had much better flow if Noah kidnapped them all after the Battle City tournament was over while they went home on the blimp. (That way, Marik, Ishizu, and Odion could have all gone home a different route directly to Egypt from the island instead of being captured on the blimp along with everyone else.)
Fuck it. I'm reaching to Mai valentine before that creepy fucker Yami Marik ever does. I'm removing myself and Mai and Bakura from shadow games and two of my clones would take their places instead.
I'd give Mai valentine and Bakura a good start and I'd take them to Griffith and Bathurst and Port Macquarie to give us a fresh start. Clone #79 can be put in that hourglass not Mai or me!

It seems was. I felt for poor Mai valentine and Bakura.
Of all people who’s life Marik has ruined, Mai has been the effected the most. She probably still hates him even after he reformed. Considering all the things she did to her, not to mention nearly killing Joey, I find it hightly unlikely Mai would ever forgive Marik. In fact, he is the closet thing to an archenemy to her.
I'll never forgive Yami Marik for what he did to Mai and I'd grab her before he ever used his rod on her and I'd put clone#79 in her place instead.
I'd put Amber clone#79 in her place in the shadow realm instead and I'd take bakura and Mai with me because I fuckin hate Marik for what he did to poor Mai. I'd hate Yami Marik for what he did to poor Mai and I'd take Bakura and Mai to port Macquarie with me so they will not go to the shadow realm.

Dartz may take over the world, but it's really simply cuz they are all desperate to get away from Yami Marik. Running from Yami Marik, is probably what made Thanos inevitable in the other millions of timelines as well. That is just how terrifying Marik really is.
So basically there was a time line where Thanos had to duel Marick. He probably used the reality stone as the heart of the cards to produce any card he needed.

Mai joined the Battle City tournament for the friendly game and to be the best, but in the finals, the random selection number selected her to face Yami Marik who won the shadow game and trapped her mind in the hourglass. Even though Mai was rescued, she was traumatized by that event and of course that caused her to join Doma in season 4. It wouldn't happen if random selection number chose her to face someone else but Yami Marik.
Would be interesting to see her duel against Ishizu or Kaiba, but in the end she would lose because of Millennium necklace or Obelisk the Tormentor respectively.
I'd put someone else with Yami Marik instead of her and I'd take Mai valentine away to Port Macquarie.
How about the random number choosing Mai to face someone else instead of Yami Marik that'd be better for Mai and Bakura and me.

Good moments even though Mi in Quicksand scenes were so few and far between. I have memories of Princess Jasmine being trapped inside an hourglass and sand is all over her like what happened to Mi.
Though this also brings me to one of the reasons why out of all the different genre's of Japanese Animation that I did not like Shounen Anime, the conflict takes too many episodes to resolve.
For example the fight between Goku and Freeza. Took 26 episodes too long.
So for the peril of Mi inside the hourglass, took too long to get though and it was like ages before we saw any sign of her.
Great scenes but so little with too much filler in between.
So maybe when I make my own Anime series, I would love to have almost every episode have its quicksand scene or peril scene for each episode.

If you read the manga, you won't have to worry about filler, and things are MUCH darker.

This duel made me so mad. Why would they add that stupid plot line that you had to say a chant to summon Ra. None of the other Egyptian god cards required one and making that the reason why Mai lost was stupid.
Marik literally got out dueled in all 3 of his duels and only advanced bc of the chat and that Joey passed out.
I remember this scene but I also remember Marik telling her that “you won’t have anything to eat or drink for the rest of eternity”
I also remember when Pegasus drank wine and it was said in the DUB instead of fruit juice.
