@@FinnThePanther Well hopefully I'll go to FWA someday with my family(the ones who are okay with furries). And are you still planning on going to Further Confusion 2025? I'm just asking if you are or not.
@@FinnThePanther hopefully we can see more improvements to different conventions in the future and hopefully we can grow this community back to loving and supporting one another
Man, what a con to start off on! 15,021 attendees there is crazy. It was overwhelming for a first-timer like me, but I had a great time meeting new people and suiting! I can't wait for next year. It's gonna be even bigger! 🌱
This year's FWA was my first ever fur con and I saw you on the sky bridge! Didn't stop to say hi, didn't want to be /that/ guy, but it was so cool to see you in the fluff.
Food alone is why I always pressure my friends to give this con a try. Yeah elevators are god awful but there’s ways around it that you can make it work. They are listening and trying. They aren’t perfect but the fact I don’t have to walk the streets to get somewhere is a GODSEND
Ah oOo the big cat remained elusive to me at my first furry con (not that I was actively hunting for you) I didn't find you so I just wanted to messege here and say thank you ^-^ You are one of the youtubers that got rid of some of my anxiousness on giving my first con a try and I can happily say I LOVED IT oOo! And have already bought my reg to fwa next year ^-^
I actually passed by you twice during the con and really wanted to say hey, but I figured you were probably busy and on your way. It was nice seeing you, though! My FWA experience this year was... Well, it was okay, at best. The elevator situation was awful in almost any of the hotels, the atmosphere was just busier and the logistics of going back and forth to suit up gave me so much less time to just be a horse. So like, I dunno, I'm happy for the con and everyone who enjoyed it, but I'm hoping next year will be better.
FWA was my second ever furry con (and the only one I can realistically go to rn due to costs) and I had such a great time. I'm very excited to see it grow, especially as a Georgia native.
I saw you at FWA but didn't want to interrupt because you were talking to someone. 😊 FWA has the advantage of being able to grow since there are lots of other hotels nearby, and the hotels are used to really big cons because of Dragon Con. I worry that AC won't be able to expand since downtown Pgh is so comparatively small.
Awesome video! Yep, FWA was the con to go to this year. I flew down from Boston to Hatsfeild Jackson. Originally Delkab Peachtree cause I was supposed to be renting a small plane to fly there. But my plane had some mechanical problem and that didn't pan out. So I flew into the main airport. The Hub is So awesome. It was such an honor to have seen you in person! Love your suit. Love this video. Keep up the awesome job.
Tavi, How about 3450 when I came to my first FWA in 2016 for Camp Furry Weekend! It’s amazing to be part of the increasing numbers each year but I’m smiling
I'm fully convinced to attend FWA at some point. I had suggested that due to the hotel space being so crowded and the subsequent elevator issues, I had suggested moving FWA to an actual convention center (specifically the Georgia World Congress Center). But after watching your vid, Finn, you've convinced me that the con's space right there in downtown, with its easy access to food spots and other attractions, should remain.
While at FWA I still went outside and walked down a few blocks to eat at Blossom Tree. Those sweet potatoes were magical. 100/10 would eat again. However, the amount of homeless people hanging out at the park not far from the convention center was kinda unnerving. I would take caution venturing out during the dark hours. Also... plan on parking in the hotel's parking garage or an established parking garage. There was a parking lot that a few furries parked at near the convention center that had every car window smashed into. So for safety, park at the hotel even if it'll cost you. But it's like this at any major event location. Especially at downtown locations. Feels like camping in bear country. Keep valuables with you and not in your car. I carpool so there is only one vehicle to worry about. ( Also... if you go to Atlanta... I suggest visiting the Coke factory! You get to drink soda from all over the world! )
It was my very first year tabling at any artist alley! The community was so WONDERFUL to me! I had such a great time, even though I couldnt leave my booth for long!! FWA was great ;o;;
FWA was my first furry con last year and my absolute favorite so I knew I had to go this year. But yeah it was so interesting how much it grew! The insights in this video were very interesting though because I've been considering going to MFF and AC, and now I know a bit more for comparison. For me with FWA, both years, I barely even go to any panels and I still have a fantastic time. There's so much to see, and I do love the Marriott's layout. I hope to go next year, but I do hope the elevator situation is better.
I can tell you why FWA is so big? FWA is THE BEST CON PERIOD!! My eighth FWA since 2016 has been always been better than the prior year. This Bear will ALWAYS BE ATTENDING FWA. Of Joe Bear’s top three cons to attend, FWA, FC and BLFC and only choose one - it would be FWA. I might join staff for FWA and FC as well starting in 2025
I'm surprised to hear there aren't that many direct flights to Pittsburgh International Airport -- in my day, it was a hub for USAir (and still is for American Airlines) so it seemed like all the lines on their flight maps converged there. I'm told that it was expanded a lot since the last time I spent significant time there (in the 90s), including the addition of a small mall.
PIT is definitely still a midsize airport with a strong AA presence still there. But when compared to ORD and ATL, the options are a bit more limited, especially flying nonstop
@@FinnThePanther In addition, PIT is completely outclassed by ORD and ATL in non-stop international flights. US airlines only have non-stop flights to the Caribbean for the US tourist trade and only two non-US airlines, Air Canada and British Airways, serve it.
I once thought that furry would be a fad that would fade away down to a small core. It is still growing strong. New furs all the time. I have fursuited at 20 cons including MFF many times and they got too big for me. I much prefer a small con. Now I live in Alaska so have a couple of comic and anime cons such as Sensai con that we fursuiters can fursuit at in Anchorage.
Are you Max Corey, the artist? If that's the case, I haven't seen you online since 1997 or 1998. I am still blown away by your magnificent drawing of the Brahman Bull.
I really want to go to FWA but I would need to decide between FWA and MFF. I'll need to see how much it'll be but I definitely want to give it a try sometime
I will say that I have a bit of insider info, the reason why lines and such were very bad towards the Hilton was because FWA was caught off guard when the Hyatt triple booked the hotel. Not only was FWA happening, but a junior chess tournament and a Christian summit was happening at the same time! From what I have heard the Hyatt person who did this was fired and it won't happen again. This will make it easier for next year such as putting dealers den in the Hyatt like in 2023. I personally liked the game room in the Hilton more than in the Marriot. And reg this year was super fast and not snaking it's way though the entirety of the Marriot like last year.
This context is super appreciated, I was also wondering why there seemed to be other conventions happening at the Hyatt when I was walking around there!
i think in the next couple of years, all of the cons are going to see a huge jump in attendees. the active members of the furry community are rising quickly, for better or worse. things are going to change rapidly, and the furry community will never be the same as it once was. there is no point in being afraid of the negative impacts though. there will always be a negative stigma, we can prepare for it, but if we fear it, it will be our downfall. we will over prepare for it and start looking at every little thing as negative. we just have to accept that as a whole, people do dumb things. a lack of hygiene will make people sick, drugs and alcohol will influence other people to do things that they normally wouldnt do, and while people will try to help others, sometimes the best help you can be is to get someone who actually has the proper knowledge to assist in whatever situation has come up, because while you will not get in trouble for not succeeding in helping during a medical emergency, if theres someone better qualified, it could prove to be more successful
I wonder if Furrydelphia will grow. It is a con in the middle of a major city that is easy to get to from the airport. Yet the con only gets 2,500 people. I suppose being a month after AC and being in the same state as AC effects things.
So sad I missed it I had no idea it was even happening!!!!! ;-; I would’ve asked my mom.. I probably wouldn’t have been able to go but I would have loved to.. I hope everyone had a amazing time though
i didn't personally like the setup of fwa as much as ac or mff. it isn't as open, so getting to the main area and even being in it, was too cramped and tight. i think 15k was too much for the space.
Hey i know you probably wont see this but i use to be a anti furry untill i saw your furry for 30 video and for some reason i wanted to be a furry idk why but all i can say is thank you
Since when please, does the raw attendance figure make a Furry convention the "biggest"? "Attendees" per se includes the non-costumed general public. So, just how many fursuit participants were there at FWA 2024? Anthrocon 2023 had a purported world record of over 3,100 fursuiters, and there will likely be even more for AC 2024.

I actually thought they handled the crowds better as the convention went on!

I went to FWA it the hopes it was just slighty bigger than 10k like last year and not a 50% increase in attendance to 15k x3 still a great con

Fair enough, though there are conventions at the same location that host over 50,000 people, so it's all about how the space is utilized!

The first letter of the full name of furry conventions usually gets shortened to its initials. So AnthroCon -> AC, Furry Weekend Atlanta -> FWA, etc.
