Thanks Colin A most enjoyable day and to get a weee fish was a bonus the river this autumn has never really settled in October and the rain yeas tardy and to day will have put the river up again. I was going to try and get out tomorrow but I think it may be too high. Cheers Iain. 🥃
I hope that next season is a good one for you Paddy. I have another four weeks of enjoyment to go ..... tight lines for your comming season Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Jon. I love to fish at Cardrona in the Autumn the colours of the landscape change daily and a wee fish is a bonus . I loved your rendition of Blackbird . Milo my cat sat and watched on my knee and started hauling when you stopped . Pass on my birthday wishes Cheers Iain 🥃
Thanks Andrew it takes a bit of time for me to edit the videos and I do appreciate your comment . it was great to see the wee fish shoot off the it was returned. Cheers Iain. 🥃
The river has dropped a bit now and we could do with a lift Bob I am hoping that Sundays rain will help. and then I may have to watch my step again Cheers Iain. 🥃
Iain , ah I loved the rain bit nothing better if your dry ! Your videos keep me going ! I’ll fish Cardrona next year if it the last thing I do ! Keep the videos coming !
I am glad that my efforts in editing give you pleasure Tony . I have still got to catch up with a few more trips and I hope that they keep you going also. Cheers Iain. 🥃
That was a good one and maybe there should have been a few more showing; but that's fishing! I must try and get up there next year,, have not been for a while.
It's strange Mr Mazo that some days that I have been fishing fish splash all over the place I think that this year they must be camera shy I can recommend the trip to Cardrona Cheers Iain. 🥃
@@IainSB it sure is. Maybe you might try to make a fly with a little red in it. I have seen a couple of clips of someone who is quite successful with a red dominated fly. For on days that the fishies are a little picky. Cheers and good health to you Iain!
The fishing isn't that expensive at £68 per day I know that the time you have travel expenses and accommodation it all adds up . add to that a treat for your wife because you love her and it then becomes a lottery win good luck on the lottery and remember me. 😉. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hello from British Columbia. As you followed the fish downstream the wading looked a bit precarious along the bank. It looked like it dropped off deep. Glad you didn't take a tumble and nicely done with the landing.
I have fished on the beat for a lot of years Dave and been fortunate only to trip in that pool once . I had to chase my rod down the pool as I dropped it trying to save myself from injury. These days I go at a slower pace and that helps me stay on my feet it was good to see the fish go off at speed when it was returned Cheers Iain. 🥃
The season goes on until the end of November Norman. years ago we used to get runs ov big silver fish the last two weeks of the season but clean fish are few and far between got to keep trying for them Cheers Iain 🥃
I have fished at Cardrona for a lot of years Tam I caught my first salmon from the Dirtpot a fish of 18lb no wonder I keep going back. The beat has been good to me over the years with some fantastic catches and big fish. Cheers Iain.
What setup do you have, your line seems to go out with ease? Maybe its more to do with your casting than line lol but thought I would ask as looking to try a different line for next season. Thanks
Hi Stevie The line I am using is a Rio Scandi Short Muti tip (using the floating Tip). the rod is rated for a 7. but the line is a 8 weight and it loads the rod well. I also have a 5ft sinking polly tip just to get the fly down a bit these lines work well with shorter rods and its a switch rod I am using I also the same set up on my 12 ft rod . I hope that helps Cheers Iain. 🥃
another good videos Ian, that fish fought well. I know the water has been low for a lot of the time so fish were scarce but it does appear there are more sea trout & grilse than multi wintered fish these days. Do you agree ?
Thanks Cameron The catches this years during the spring and summer had anglers a bit doom and gloom but it is good to see the numbers in the pools in the upper beats splashing about . I do think that there are as many seatrout as usual and I have seen a good quantity of large fish splash some are in excess of 20lb but never managed to get hold of one . hopefully I will get to shake hands with a big fish before the end of the season Cheers Iain. 🥃
Rain again Ian ! But without it no fish. Patience and good casting technique pays of!! The Tweed looks like a true Salmon River. Any idea where the main spawning beds are? How far up do the fish go? Cheers
fish spawn throughout the river I have seen fish spawn from August in the lower beats and the good water levels we get in the Autumn the fish go up the small burns at the source of the tweed . The. Buddy burn had a fish counter on it years ago and I believe that in one 24 hour stretch over 100 fish went past. the Biggar burn and the Lyne water see a lot of fish spawn. Cheers Iain 🥃
Top angler Iain, effortless casting as always, your efforts paid off.
another great day on the river Paul. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video again. Lovely wee fish Iain. Well done. Water looks fantastic.

That fish fought like a monster!! No stocked fish fights like that I’ll tell ya,,,
It great to get a wee fish like that Robert and have it fight so hard and then scream back into the depths
