  • From reminiscing on old places to “jigging,” #225Day has been growing in popularity on social media platforms like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Inspired by the community’s pride in the city, local organizer Myra Richardson brought the hashtag to life with a new festival in Downtown Baton Rouge: 225 Fest. Get ready to celebrate on February 25th!
Established by musician, promoter, and entrepreneur Buddy Stewart, Buddy’s Rock Shop is the home of classic vinyl records. The family-owned record store still holds many of Baton Rouge’s musical memories. The shop has also been the host of many celebrities: comedians Mike Epps and George Jefferson, 90’s R&B singers Montell Jordan and Jon B, and many more. Find out why this more than 40-year-old business is still crucial to the culture of Baton Rouge.
#225Day has been a social media conversation for years. One local organizer saw that digital conversation as an opportunity to showcase Baton Rouge culture. Myra Richardson, owner and CEO of Red Torch Consulting, jumped on the opportunity to celebrate the 25th of February and founded 225 Fest. Find out what to expect for this new Louisiana festival in 2023!
Love, 225 is going green and hanging out in the kitchen of Veganish Vibes. After Naquellar “Nikki” Martin Thompson was diagnosed with breast cancer she changed her diet and lifestyle by creating plant-based cuisine with a Creole twist.
In 2022 she opened a new meat-free restaurant on 4608 Bennington Ave to bring more healthy Cajun options to Baton Rouge.
From shrimp po’boys to crab cakes, Veganish Vibes’ entire menu is mouth-watering with plenty of plant-based, dairy & egg-free options.
For In The Mix WBRZ Meteorologist Marisa Nuzzo, Owner of Empire Wings Vic Smith, 225 Fest Founder Myra Richardson, and Love, 225 Host Brandi B. Harris are having a conversation about the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop and festival season in Louisiana. See what connects this diverse group and how we share a love for Baton Rouge
P.S. You’re going to love it!
