Love, 225: Episode 2 (full)- 225 Fest, Empire Wings, Forever a Dreamer, Henry Watson & Law Lucas

Grown out of social media appreciation for the city of Baton Rouge, February 25th has officially been named “225 Day.” In true Louisiana fashion, the Capital City hosted 225 Fest to mark the occasion with more than 14,000 people filling the streets of downtown. Local organizer, Myra Richardson, says this was only the beginning for 225 Fest.
From fitness to local shopping, entrepreneur Chisolou Isiadinso is hosting Women’s Wellness Day during Women’s History Month offering women a chance to connect with each other. She explains that her goal is to encourage busy moms, professionals, and entrepreneurs to come together and relax. All the proceeds go to supporting children and their families at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Bird is the word on this segment of Love, 225 as we head to Empire Wings. Owner, Vic Smith, says it all started as post-party meals in 2012. That’s all before he spent his last dollar, investing in the first restaurant on Scenic Highway near Southern University. Now, he has a mini-”empire” with three locations on Scenic Highway, Burbank Drive, and a new drive-thru location at 2698 Sherwood Forest Blvd. The menu has plenty to offer from wings tossed in a variety of sauces to the “VJ” fries, which are named after his son, covered in barbecue sauce and ranch.
With more than 40 years of experience, Henry Watson is a master artist who creates his masterpieces out of recycled Cypress wood. From Livonia, Louisiana, he takes pieces of Cypress wood from former cabins and buildings that have interesting origin stories, and he carves and paints scenes of Louisiana life. With super distinct features and details, his artwork has been purchased by people all over the world.
Entrepreneur Chisolou Isiadinso, Owner of Blazing Cajun Kitchen in Plaquemine and Rapper Laurick Bosley, and Love, 225 Host Brandi B. Harris are having a conversation about International Women’s Day, the start of crawfish season in south Louisiana, and snowballs. The segment ends with Rapper Law Lucas giving us a special performance of his song, “H.U.S.T.L.E.R” on Love, 225.
