Hey, that was a very good lesson…not too deep but gives thoughtful insight to let you go explore, because in the end isn’t that what it is all about? Let’s just simply say…it was inspiring.
Much appreciated :)
Leon, you are the person who inspired and literally pushed me to have a 6-string guitar in a Drop C tuning, cause I mainly play 7-strings in drop A. But I got myself Edwards John Sykes and it just smashes me in my face every happy time I hit the strings... Best. Fun. Ever. Thanks for your work and content! I do appreciate it very much.
They're great guitars! That must rip hard in Drop c
Same here. My EBMM Axis stays in Drop C because of Leon :)
Seriously. I never even considered having a guitar in drop c and now it’s like damn, I really need this in my life.
I'd known about picking up the sus, min and major on the D string but i hadnt thought of adding in a droneing high string to go with, definitely going to be trying that out
Thanks mate.. that 3rd idea is great, I'll be trying that tomorrow. Have to say your commitment to get out a vid everyday is incredible! Much appreciated.. take care
so helpful hope to see some more drop d ideas. I always love drop d but struggle to incorporate it into anything more sophisticated. these tips will be great to try thx
Thanks for the lesson. Im in a band now that's using drop d exclusively and i need ideas like this to bring to practice. Much appreciated
Happy to help!
Really cool man, i love drop D and you gave me a whole bunch of ideas plus i am a huge Ty Tabor fan. Good one mate thank you!
Great tips brother. So fun to rock out in drop d.
Been in a Drop D rut lately, and this is the perfect antidote. Much thanks.
Let the riffs flow!
Well done Brother! Great way to inspire others to explore and experiment! Thanks for All You Share and Care Leon! Be Well All!
Thanks Leon! That was class.
Nice ideas love it! Thx a lot! Love the approach of just givin an idea :)
Can’t wait to try these! Thank you sir!
Hope you enjoy mate
thanks for the video, I have played around with dropD and C# for a while now, You gave me some great Ideas. I was already starting to work on some new riffs as you said to do so in the video!
Great to hear!
Nice one Leon cheers 👍🎸👍
Excellent video! 👍
Amazing! Thank you
I never thought Drop D can be used with other chords. Thanks for the inspiration!
Excellent video. Lots of good ideas! 💪💪💪
Glad you enjoyed!
Excellent video sir! 👍🏻
Thank you kindly!
thank you so much Leon for this Lesson...
My pleasure!
I play in DrD and you have an awesome tone. I play an StLesPaul running through the GT1000 and onto my AC30. 4CM method. Dude! Thanks man!
Do you do Patches for multi effects?
Some great ideas here, thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thumbs up for the Ty Tabor shoutout!!
Good pointers as well!!
THANK YOU! FINALLY someone explains chords in drop tuning. Also what was that other G chord towards the end???
Now I need listen to gretchen goes to nebraska. Haven't listened to it in a few years. I remember when it first came out and seeing them live. It was amazing.
YES!!!! Enjoy
Sounds brilliant to me 😸
Ty Tabor is the man.
THIS
Number 2 for sure, those extended drop chords make up like 90% of my riffs. Picked it up from Evergrey, started checking out Kings X and I'm thinking that's probably where they got it.. Hooked for sure 🤘
Yeah!!!
Cool Leon.
Dropping the top and bottom strings and tuning G up to A can yield some cool stuff besides uncomfortable string tension mismatching.
Ooooh I love some mismatched tension, just coz!
Awesome. to the drawing board
I've always avoided Drop D because cause standard tuning kept me pretty busy ..., but this is SO cool I have to give it a try !
Let me know how you like it!
killer!!!
Trying that example at 4:14 on my drop C# tuneD Tremonti. Using the Pitch Block to bump it up a half step to match you, but I think the Virtual Capo is getting confused on that chord because it's doing this really wonky wavering. Almost seems like that dissonance between the C and B note is freaking it out.
Hi Leon, love drop D tuning, just wondered if you have ever tried or got a guitar with the drop d like EVH D Tuna? I know its pretty quick to do any way but I like the idea.
I do but I lost the drop tuna bit on my Wolfgang! I have a hipshot drop D tuning peg on my Jazz Bass which works great
30 years ago my band had a song in dropped D where I basically played a D octave drone with a wah pedal. The bass player then played a descending riff over that. One of our friends couldn't figure out what I was playing until he practiced with us and was amazed when he found out I was basically playing one chord through almost the entire song.
Wah makes everything better!
@@LeonTodd to be honest, it was my take on The Kiss by the Cure. That was the song that convinced me to buy a wah pedal.
I'm a stone cold sucker for drop D with a drone. If I have a song it doesn't happen in at least once, I was probably sick that week. :D
I write music for my voice, and I've messed with drop D and some other tunings over the years, but they haven't really inspired me with the grooves and arrangements I came up with for more than just in the moment. I have a higher range and mainline roots in hard and progressive rock though and have developed over many years my style. Experimentation is the path to more and new music though, so one of these days.....
Tasty! 😎🤙🏼
I can’t decide top do drop d or drop c any suggestions?
Great 5 min session!!
The open G added in the drop D sounds reminiscent of Danzig’s can’t speak”.
If you haven’t heard that obscure Danzig song - give it a listen.
Let me know what ya think!
Love and peace
Hadn't heard that one, just checked it out. That's very much the vibe!
Dude, what is that? 0:53 Is that the effects you're using, that sounds awesome but not very impressive on an acoustic xD
What to play in Drop D...
1. Play Ratt's "Lay it down"
2. Play Stone Temple Pilots' "Piece of Pie" and "Down"
3. Play Audioslave's "Show me how to live"
4. Play Velvet Revolver's "Slither"
5. Keep playing the aforementioned.
Don’t forget Bulls on Parade-RATM
@@mickbuffalo Haha... Sorry I missed it. I may add Soundgarden's "Jesus Christ Pose" and Foo Fighters' "Everlong"
Hahaha I very enarly mentioned Lay It Down as essential, but I figured you all knew that one already :p
@@LeonTodd Hahaha... yeah. You've clearly assumed it very well.
@@martinignaciodefeo9235 oh i forgot Killing in the name too! When you stop and think there’s so many great songs in drop d. When I was a kid I always wondered why led zep songs were hard to figure out as Jimmy page uses it a lot.
Hey an English Jay Weinberg
